  1. I’m going to need to know ahead of time if this one’s going 17. What’s that? Use the box score as a reference? Ok then.
  2. That might have been a strike. Ump sure it didn’t bounce into the zone?
  3. I didn’t think there was any kind of Yankee fan but a big Yankee fan.
  4. Isn’t he still walking about ten batters an inning? The Twins might score a couple if they don’t swing.
  5. If you lose your bat on strike three it should count as two outs.
  6. By Dick’s logic, Parker has instantly become the Twins least reliable reliever. It was a good run for him.
  7. You mean you don’t go by the most interesting label? Yeah, you’re doing it wrong.
  8. Also that joke goes over anyone’s head who’s not watching FSN.
  9. Parker’s 5 straight scoreless outings = Twins most reliable reliever- sources confirm.
  10. Wow, and I’ve been down on the Twins infield defense lately. What do I know?!
  11. Judge didn’t sneak out of it, he folded like the chump he is!
  12. Yeah, that's frustrating. But if the Twins were in that spot, I'd want them to squeeze every ounce of prospect out of the Nationals too.
  13. Yeah, some guys get away with running mostly two pitches, Patrick Corbin for instance was someone I was not in favor of last offseason, but that was mostly due to what I perceived as an over-reliance on the slider which I thought was a big injury red flag. However, I was about as big of a Lance Lynn detractor as there was from day one, lack of off speed pitches being the only reason. If Boyd had a history of success like Ray or Sale, maybe I'd have some faith, but his only bright spot is two months of modest success, he's been pretty terrible his entire career outside of April and May of this year. Who would he even bump from the rotation? Martin Perez has even been better than Boyd has been since June. He's in his fifth year now, and he hasn't done anything remotely similar in his career, to what those other pitchers listed have done.
  14. Well BrooksBaseball mostly. His first three years in the league he threw his curve and change combined about 30-40% of the time. Last year that figure went down to about 20% and this year it's down to 10%. And looking at the results for both of those pitches on both BrooksBaseball and Fangraphs, it seems likely that he's nearly stopped using them because they aren't any good.
  15. I'm hopeful the rest of the league comes back down from cloud 9 regarding this guy; I really don't want the Tigers to swindle another team for a boatload of prospects. Unless it's Cleveland. To be fair though, as much as I don't like Boyd because of his lack of any usable off speed pitch, if/when in a year or so from now his new two-pitch-mix blows up in his face and has cratered his value, I'd love for the Twins to swoop in and grab him at a low point and stick him in the pen. Lots of similarities to Andrew Miller, Zack Britton and Glen Perkins.
  16. I think you'll find that those of us applauding the win going to Thorpe are doing so because it's uncommon, though the right thing to do in our mind. I don't recall your other examples explicitly, but if they're as you state them, we probably would have applauded giving the win to the pitcher who did most of the heavy lifting in those cases as well.
  17. Not sure if that's enough, but maybe. I know enough posters have soured on him and will likely disagree, but I think Fernando Romero is pitcher that a lot of other teams would love to buy low on. I mean if the shoe was on the other foot, many of us would probably be interested in say,Touki Toussaint. You just need to get someone to whisper "Tyler Glasnow" in the other GM's ear while while you're making the offer.
  18. I've yet to see that happen. I assume those butt hurt Tweeters were just watching on TV and not at the game, because it's been scientifically proven that 94.3% of New Yorkers have never been further from their home than New Jersey, and that's only when they got lost and realized they couldn't make a U Turn in the Lincoln Tunnel.
  19. Well Kudos to Duffey for a job well done, but considering the situation, I think if someone was going to make an argument against WPA, this would probably be an ideal example of it not being perfect.
  20. Duffey's effectiveness would only be considered if the starting pitcher went five innings and would have qualified for the win. If the starting pitcher didn't go five innings then the win goes to which pitcher in the official scorer's judgment, was the most effective. Which is usually defaults to the guy who pitched immediately after the starter.
  21. I only got to watch the second inning, in which Perez could not have looked more dominant. He was painting the corners and pulling the strings perfectly on so many off speed pitches. I was surprised tracking the game on my phone that he was having so much trouble with the zone in every other inning.
