  1. Funny that even if they didn't care about the player, they certainly cared about the interceptions. They reap what they sow I guess.
  2. Well maybe this isn't so far-fetched considering MLBTR is saying the Rockies and Marlins have discussed a move involving Brendan Rodgers and Cabrera. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/12/marlins-rockies-talked-about-trade-involving-edward-cabrera-brendan-rodgers.html Arraez alone still wouldn't get Cabrera, but maybe the other pieces would be less than expected. Rodgers is a better fielder, and can probably still play SS if needed, but offensively they're similar and have the same number of control years. The one bonus Arraez has, is that he doesn't come with that leery feeling you get when removing a hitter from Coors Field.
  3. I'm not sure what the argument here is. It's acknowledged that the Twins have traded prospects for decent pitching, but they aren't trading it for decent controllable pitching. Is this just supposed to be the plan every year? If they can't sign the free agents, don't they at some point have to trade for pitching that will be here longer than two years?
  4. Even if others disagree WHERE he slots in, it's pretty indisputable WHEN he slots in. If the Twins are truly looking at trades because Gray, Mahle and Meada are free agents after next year, why are they looking at trading assets for a guy who'll be a free agent the following year? I mean, is this really the dance we want to do every off season? Trade major assets for a guy with two years of control? Even if it costs more, the more judicious use of assets would be to trade for a guy you don't have to worry about for three, four or even more years.
  5. Would a rebuilding team have any interest in Kepler? I'm also fairly turned off by the trade calculator. After all, why trade Kepler when they could just trade Thielbar, who's got twice his value, instead?
  6. I wanted nothing to do with either of those two. The Twins don't need, and should not be looking for guys who pitch behind Gray and Ryan. The only starters they should be looking at are guys for the front of the rotation or boring guys they can stick in St. Paul in case of an emergency.
  7. And as terrible as it is to say, I'd think hiding a concussion would get easier for the player with more practice. Tua needs to just start saying "I'm not OK". Surely there's some folks in the organization who are old school and would like him to keep his mouth shut, but those people have zero recourse if a player speaks up for himself here in 2022.
  8. But Flexen wouldn’t even be the number five starter. He wouldn’t be ahead of Ober, Mahle or Maeda, and I’d put him behind the upside guys Varland and SWR too.
  9. I would trade Arraez twice for Gilbert.
  10. Hopefully it’s number three. However, if for some reason the Mets deal falls through and the Twins STILL insist on further evaluation. and/or renegotiation, I’d hope they replace their doctors, because there’d be no other conclusion then they somehow missed what the other teams’ doctors found.
  11. But the team doctors should have still been aware of the issue right? And the Twins offer should have already been with this issue squarely in mind?
  12. If they do it at a discount, they’d have to fire their team doctors right? They’d basically be saying that last year the Twins doctors were incapable of detecting what the Giants and Mets doctors did.
  13. I don’t know, a bunch of laterals seems like a good idea. That rarely backfires.
  14. ***Disclaimer- nutty conspiracy theory post alert**** Is it possible, the other big market clubs with entrenched owners reached out to Cohen and said he had to knock this crap off? That they all had a good thing going and his actions may end up provoking unwanted changes? Like greater broadcast revenue sharing?
  15. Everyone treated the deal like a one year deal, but it was three. And with the new injury concern news, those two extra years for 70M made the deal more of a reality than we thought.
  16. While I lean toward a charade over naïveté, why did they put forth three separate initial offers of different lengths? Why the effort if it was all a show? Additionally, why did they push for a face-to-face meeting at the winter meetings unless they really wanted him? But then at the meeting they only upped their initial offer by 5M? That honestly seems disingenuous. And if we would have had a poll in October asking if the Twins could sign CC or 10 for 285M, I’d guess it would have been a near unanimous “No”. Even the amature arm-chair fans knew that wasn’t enough. I don’t know, either explanation is a bad look in my book.
  17. He’s too slow to process and indecisive. Reminds me of Christian Ponder. Some QBs improve at the processing part, but I don’t think the indecisiveness ever gets better.
  18. Trading for pitchers in AAA certainly isn’t as asset efficient, but the success rate should be exponentially higher than drafting guys 4+ years from the majors.
  19. You're talking about the wealthy correct? Tax payer funded stadiums, obscene tax breaks and getting everything hand delivered to their doorstep on a silver platter? Or are you saying the entitlement and handouts should ONLY be reserved for the wealthy?
  20. The only double standard I see is in your post. I can't imagine anyone here who doesn't want Bauer, would want Watson on their team either. There's a Vikings thread in "Other Sports" forum. Go search through that and see how Watson was thought of around here. And perhaps you conveniently missed them, but the Browns fans have held protests regarding Watson all season long.
  21. Yeah, good for him, it was looking like he'd probably miss out on his big free agent deal. I thought he'd get a year, maybe two if he took a discount or made it a team option.
  22. Agree, aside from the starting pitchers, the vets being proposed as trades, would also be proposed as trades on a team that won the World Series the year prior.
  23. I wouldn't trade Polanco or Gray. Polanco because I think you'd be selling low and you can get more for him later. Also, he's still fairly young. I wouldn't trade Gray because he's likely to be worth a QO in the off season and SWR is the only other starting option after the players listed. I like the Ryan/Ober/Varland/Winder/SWR group, but that's basically it. With Mahle that's six and six isn't enough. The team doesn't have quite enough young bullets to waste shooting off Gray right now. But otherwise, I'm on board trading the rest and I wouldn't even call it a rebuild. The young guys are already just as good if not better than the guys being traded away.
