  1. He's reverted to his norms for sure. And teams seemed to be way overpaying for veteran players this year.
  2. Except Miami to Havana is about the distance of Minneapolis to Moorhead, so I kind of dropped the ball on that joke.
  3. Dude has three stolen bases this year. You really want to take that threat off the base paths!?!?
  4. They claim the international waters between Key Largo and Havana too.
  5. So payroll adjusted, the Twins should probably be rolling with about a 8M payroll.
  6. Ready for the geography lesson sir.
  7. Except they're not. Again, the Minnesota market is the 15th biggest. That's average.
  8. Like Buffalo and Kanas City? I don't think you get out enough.
  9. Man, we used to have a celebrity death pool here. Not sure what happened to that. Austin Marin was a 1st round pick and he was still in junior high if I remember correctly.
  10. It's the 15th largest market in the country. Should there only be 14 teams?
  11. I don't hate, but I was never a big believer. I'm with Greg Maddux.
  12. I've been to Buffalo. It's closer to Des Moines than it is to Minneapolis.
  13. Pretty sure La Velle E Neal got exiled to Ely for asking if the Twins had any intention of re-signing Carlos Correa.
  14. Those cities are way bigger. Then Minnesota is the next bigger.
  15. That sounded facetious, but I think there's something to that. Aside from the owner though, the fans and even more so the media are ruthless on the owners, front office and players in those markets while ours largely gets a pass to adhere to the Minnesota Nice atmosphere. While we don't advocate for it here at Twins Daily, torches and pitchforks are likely quite motivating.
  16. I was stoked to watch the Vikings beat the Bills in Buffalo. But now I feel dirty knowing is was due to playing the smaller market.
  17. The players aren't from Minnesota though, so it's got to be an external force that creates the disparity. Even when the Minnesota squad actually has the better team, they still have problems.
  18. It's not like the Twins players are from Owatana and Mets players are from Brooklyn. I've long thought it was the local Midwest fly over country attitude of 'aw shucks, we're just happy to be here' that loses out to the cut throat, 'we're going to murder your dog if you don't win' pressure the big market teams face.
  19. Plenty of guys in the SEC couldn't translate that to the majors. With no power, Martin always had a razor thin margin of error.
  20. I heard Bally was awarded the playoff games so most of us won't have to worry about seeing it this year.
  21. Alas, I think KC and Cleveland are both posers, so there's a reasonable chance you'll be seeing that playoff game. Or did you mean Dobnak specifically? Yeah, that would make it worse.
  22. Probably what the Mets are saying too......
