    Shocker, the journeymen vets are at the bottom. I don't trust relievers, but at least as far as this team goes, the ones with familiarity with the organization and likely more importantly, the ones that the organization is familiar with tend to be the best ones. It might take a year or two, but if you already know when, where and how to use a guy, it's got to be a huge advantage.

    Seems like the kind of momentum destroying error that might get a guy sent back to AAA.

    I'd DFA Farmer. If not Farmer, then Richards, Funderburk then Dobnak. But I'd not lose sleep over Margot.

    Flores got a really bad defensive team to look league average last year. I think it's possible this defense is a top unit in the league now that it actually has league average players. I think this team could be much better than expected. But even if Darnold pulls a Geno Smith type resurrection, that's still not a good enough QB to win it all.

    Dylan Bundy type signings would escalate. By default he’d beat out young guys like SWR for a rotation spot.

    The Twins throw harder and get more strikeouts than other teams. Like deadening the ball after they built the Bomba Squad, this would disproportionally impact the Twins more than clubs who give up high contact.

    I’m a bit embarrassed to admit, but I kind of like this pick up. I was interested in Corral last year, and I’d rather roll the dice with the unknown than on someone like Sean Mannion.

    We've seen a lot of them, but most of those guys played for extremely inept offensive coaching situations. Also, and this is a bit harsh, but if a guy can't recover from a high level of adversity, he's probably not the kind of player who could one day carry a team to a Super Bowl.

    Do I want to see starters go deeper into games? Hell yes. Do I want to find out what happens to the Twins pitchers when either A) they get injured more, or B) they start throwing softer to allow more innings? Hell no.

    Agreed. The argument is going to be that he's old and is playing against younger competition, but that's hardly his fault, he's done nothing that should have prohibited a promotion for the last two years. If this was the 2016 Twins, he'd have been called up two years ago. In any case, Margot and Martin aren't helping the team, you might as well try something new and Martin has an option.

    We'll see, but I'm still doubtful. Crazy to think about around here, but the Rangers seem proud to be a big spender and wear it like a badge.

    All the Twins bats get consistent playing time though. The catcher spot is the only player who ever sits out two full days in a row. Farmer has played in every game since his return. Martin has played every game this month. And you don't know what a guy can do when moved to the bench just because he's a veteran. Margot's pinch hitting futility this year is the stuff of legend.

    Just looked, he's only had 14 PA all year against lefties. Why even draft left handed hitters then?

    Some game threads are annoyingly pessimistic for a team with this kind of record. But this one was a hell of a lot of fun, not sure where any perception otherwise would come from. Good work all.
