  1. Multiplicity. But instead of cloning Michael Keatons, the Twins are cloning terrible lefties.
  2. If it's a financial thing and they don't want to pay for another plane ticket, can we take up a collection or is it against the CBA?
  3. The Jasons were placed on the roster while he was "running the team." He takes the blame.
  4. Pat Dean and Logan Darnell have to be wondering what could've been.
  5. He will. Heart-warming story and we all know that Antony loves bringing guys back.
  6. They just announced that since Albers is already here, he's taking Buddy's spot on the 25.
  7. If you play it off right, nobody would notice ... since he and Albers are the same guy. Along with Darnell and Dean.
  8. If they do it'll probably be Albers. Since they're the same awful pitcher, why even bother wasting the steps out to the mound to make the change?
  9. I never thought I'd want Buddy Boshers to get healthy and back in the bullpen soon, but when the alternative is Andrew Albers, I hope he's starts rehab tomorrow.
  10. I'm glad I haven't eaten dinner yet. Anything in my stomach would've come back up when they just mentioned that Albers is back on the 25-man roster. Why can't this team quit these awful players? Might as well see if Texas will part with Doug Bernier and get the band back together.
  11. So much for one and done. Aside from pitching, this is the worst thing Buddy Boshers has ever done to the Twins.
  12. Well, since adding someone to the 40 wasn't a concern, they could've gone a number of ways I would've preferred. Wheeler hasn't pitched since the 7th, so he could've been an option. Wimmers, O'Rourke, Greenwood, Eades, Melotakis, Slegers ... any of them would've have been preferable, despite not necessarily being the innings eater that Andrew is. Because that's all he is. We get it - he's a nice guy, you like him, it's a good story. Personally, I'm sick of good stories and feel good stories and courtesy promotions because guys have paid their dues. I'm sick of the Albers and the Berniers and Beresfords of the world. I want to see guys who can compete and contribute more than a handful of photo ops and a warm, happy feeling to the fan base.
  13. Andrew might be the nicest man to ever walk the planet, but that doesn't mean we should be happy that he's back. Even if it's as the 26th man for one game that he hopefully won't pitch in, I'm not excited that he's back on the 40-man ... too much temptation for the brain trust to think he's worth another extended look. He's not. He's Pat Dean, but friendlier because he's Canadian. Perhaps even scarier is that there wasn't a single other pitcher already on the 40-man roster deemed worthy of a one-day call-up.
  14. Great to see Garver getting pushed up the ladder. Hopefully the kid takes the opportunity and runs with it ... that position is there for the taking. And good for Blankenhorn, too. Any word on whether he'll stick at 2B or shift back to 3B now that he's apart from Cabbage?
  15. Again, that 26.22 number INCLUDES those 3 players. I even said in my original post that there's a difference between 1 and 15, but it's not as big of a gap from 4 to 10. I'm getting the impression you just enjoy arguing. So, I guess, have fun with that.
  16. The #10 with the highest WAR in those 25 draft years is Robin Ventura at 56, second is Eric Chavez at 37.4, third is Madison Bumgarner at 28. There are/were 6 others with career WAR above 20. The top 3 taken at #4 are Ryan Zimmeran at 34.2, Alex Fernandez at 28.9 and Kerry Wood at 27.7. No other #4 picks have or yet have a career WAR over 20.
  17. Actually, I didn't take them out. The 26.22 number that I posted is the number with Jr., Chipper and A-Rod - just noting that the distance narrows quite a bit when taking 3 all-time greats out of the equation. And if #1 gives out such "generational talent" why is it that there's one #1 overall pick in the Hall of Fame?
  18. For the years 1987 through 2011 here is the average WAR for the draft positions that have been mentioned in this thread: #1 - 26.22 #15 - 6.58 The #1s from this time frame includes Ken Griffey Jr. (83.6), Chipper Jones (85) and Alex Rodriguez (117.9). If you eliminate three of the best to ever play from the equation, that number drops to 16.7 avg. WAR for the remaining 22 players. #4 - 6.78 #10 - 11.74 So, yes, there's a noticeable difference between 1 and 15, but it's much less noticeable in the 4-10 range.
  19. It's days like today that I'm thankful for the mute button. The way these two (and Mr. Face For Radio over on the sidelines) are fawning over the veteran "leaders" - Erv, Zuke - on this team and the young guys that need to get a look - Danny Molitor, Ragarm Robbie, etc. - is just too much. So thankful that I've got side-by-side TVs in the living room.
  20. The fact that Dickbert were just talking about how valuable DanSan is to this team makes me want to vomit. But did you see that AB? What a little scrapper.
  21. I'm going to a press screening on Tuesday. Been looking forward to this one for a long, long time.
  22. But fear not ... DanSan is patrolling RF for Kepler again today.
