  1. I’m just going to presume the twins bats are gonna bash and Rogers won’t be needed as much. Also, plenty of rest days after we go 3-0 and 7-0 to start our playoff.
  2. Yeah I thought Brusdar looked really good. Regularly located his fastball in the outer third and when he missed he seemed to miss outside. His slider was left middle-up quite a bit. Doesn’t look like a nasty / wipeout slider. But ohemgee that’s the easiest 100mph I can recall seeing. He looks like he’s playing catch.
  3. There’s only three teams in mlb who have a better home record than we have road record. We’re +5 games ahead of the second best road team. We’re closer to having a better road record than any team has a home record than we are to the second best road team. Crazy.
  4. Okay I feel better. I saw Diplan on the 40 man in a discussion earlier today. Then saw him on the recap tonight. Me: I read every minor league update all year. How the F don’t I know this guy... Me after two minutes of confusion: is he that dude we got from MIL
  5. Don’t disagree with any of that. I was responding to the hyperbole of: Any serious playoff contender doesn’t lose this game. It’s a 162 game season. A team from rookie ball could beat the 27 Yankees (which I think are now the 2019 twins)
  6. I mean Verlander just lost at home to the Tigers in one of the biggest upsets in modern regular season baseball. Reasonably certain the astros are a serious playoff contender.
  7. If you had told me Kep was going to hit 34HR this year I’d have shat myself. If you’d have followed it up by saying “with 6 weeks left in the season” I would have flung my poo at you, figuring we were all just in the looney bin so might as well act the part.
  8. Hopefully the twins can tear through the next 13 games and come out the other side with a comfortable lead again. I’ll save nail biter games for October, thankyouverymuch!
  9. When 45% of your top 20 prospects have a game cancelled, its much less compelling of a recap. When that statement reminds you that 45% of your top 20 prospects are in AA, and 65% are in AA or above, AND your big league club is really good, you first pump. Then you remember the big league club lost 3-4. Roller coaster ride, continueth!
  10. My cousin was at the game tonight. She was gifted two seats above the visitors dugout by a random stranger. This is the second time this has happened. First, wtf. Second, she sent me a video she took of the Sano BOMBA. It was loudAF. Amazing.
  11. I mean nobody slipped out the rumor about Diplan so it’s clear they run a tight ship for these big moves.
  12. It’s so frustrating that we’re so clearly a buyer and have a great farm system and this is the stingiest deadline scenario ever. When we have assets it’s a dead market. When we want to acquire them it’s “buxton lewis and Graterol for this 3.79 FIP reliever with 6k/9” Ugh.
  13. I'd push all my chips in. We have a historically good offense. If you pair that with top 8 pitching staff, we have a legitimate shot to get a trophy that does not read "2019 ALDS participant - 0-3 to NYY".
  14. I’m starting to resign myself to the fact that we’re not going to land a big fish. I haven’t been Debbie downer to this point, but when I think about *all* the teams competing for a limited set of arms, I don’t have a ton of confidence we’ll splurge with best offer for any of them. We’re so stacked on the offensive side of the MLB squad, and the mantra has been “trade position players for pitchers”. Will be obsessively refreshing MLBTR and TD like the rest of y’all, but starting to do that Minnesota thing where I lower my expectations to “nothing” to avoid the inevitable crushingly disappointing alternative.
  15. Pretty cool having 12 of the top 20 at AA or above. Couple of these guys pan out and we could have a sustained window. At least for amazing offense.... now about that pitching ....
  16. Yeah after reading those quotes this guy became an instant favorite of mine. Maybe it’s the euphoria of trading in jeter for a pennant race, but I love this guys attitude.
  17. Feels like a lot of you are conflating “this trade” with “overall deadline”. This is a good trade. We bolster our own with a legit mlb arm. We get a flier and PTBNL. For a really solid, but ultimately depth piece. By itself this is a case of trading surplus for an area of need. A prospect for a veteran PLUS a prospect. It’s clear Falvey is turning over every stone he can. It’s likely that more moves are coming. Independent of that, this is a *good trade*. The overall outlook will of course look better if we land one or more better arms. But whether or not we land better arms has nothing to do, IMHO, with whether this is a good baseball trade for our favorite 25.
  18. We have a legit shot to win a World Series this year. Don’t care about the prospect cost. Go shore up the pitching staff in whatever capacity the team feels it needs - 1 SP and 2 RP? I want to hang a banner. It’s time to take a shot.
