  1. I was playing around with this yesterday with Musgrove from the Priates. I noticed it would take a top 4 guy to complete that trade according to the site. But personally I am not the biggest fan of Thor, he is hurt almost every season, and his performance against above .500 team is not something I would expect in a "Ace"
  2. I believe your right, it was more so top 50 guy. Just speculation based on what I saw.
  3. This is the part that is frustrating for me, This was a year you know what you have and add to the team to make a play at a deep playoff run. I get prices were "high" for starters. but what the use of all these prospects? How many of these "top" guys we had 2 years ago are now below the top 10. With our current crop we are going to have issues like the Rays if we keep them all. Weeks before the deadline I was Ace or nothing. But after seeing asking prices I was ok with adding something being a upgrade. I would have been very happy if we would have gotten someone like Mike Minor, rumored price was a guy in the top 100 as the headliner. I was told by others that he screaming regression, but seeing him shutdown the Indians to the tone of 2 hits I would gladly welcome him to our rotations thats going to have 4 holes in it. This offseason should be interesting, but I doubt the prices of these starters comes down, it harder to trade when "everyone has a shot" in the offseason. With this front office welcome 3 more Perez/Pineda type signings Yuck.
  4. I would be extremely upset. You can claim all you want that the "price was too much", but I know for a fact you can get Ian Kennedy pretty reasonable and all you need to do is take on the salary, and if we don't end up with anyone you didn't try at all in my opinion.
  5. It looks like they had possibly backed down from that But the head scratcher to me is that it was the Mets winning this. Braves, Astros, Yankees, Boston, all were looking at Stroman. your telling me no one couldn't beat the Mets? It wasn't just us, everything as a whole just makes no sense. Ross Atkins must have been tired of the trade game?
  6. I would LOVE Yates, but I doubt is on the move unless the Twins move Lewis or Kiriloff. Giles was reported last night still having elbow inflammation. Its not looking good, at this point I think we are going to have to settle for Ian Kennedy (who I actually really like, and assuming the Royals will trade to us), Shawn Kelley, Greg Holland (has now imploded). There is just nothing great out there. I've said this for weeks, I just don't see all that much action this deadline.
  7. With hearing all the talks about the prices of the controllable relievers, or even the same fact for Smith. I have tempered my expectations a bit and had this exact thought on who I would target! Kennedy is really have a under the radar year. Elias looks like the missing LOOGY piece we need. I dream that we could get one now, just to free up the phones in case the price does comes down on the other elite arms as every claims "will happen".
  8. Yates would be #1 on my trade list. I am thinking they will hang on to him if they are trying to upgrade the rotation mostly for next year. But if he is on the block, I have to think it would take one of Graterol or Balazovic, plus someone else in the 50 range.
  9. I am glad I am not the only one, he would be a improvement over some, he would have the lowest K rate in our rotation... But if we are spending the prospects lets aim higher.
  10. Man out of the list of starters you posted, I really only like Robby Ray. I mean I would love to have Bauer but no way the Indians throw away a race to us. I just don't believe Stroman is the guy, in his career he has not played well in Yankee stadium, and to be honest the road will more than likely go through them. For relievers I think anyone in the list will help one way or another, I just want to get a closer of some sorts just so we can move Rodgers into the fireman role much like Andrew Miller. Also I personally did not realize Rosario only has 2.5 years left with us, he is someone we need to lock up. He finds a way to impress me year after year.
  11. I have been dreaming of getting Greinke for a long time. I wonder what this trade looks like, if you take the money off the books from the Diamondbacks I have to believe you could get a deal. Something Boston, Yankees, Astros cannot offer.
  12. I agree on this, but at the same time the switch to the bullpen is not easy, and just to expect them to be great. But I think having Bumgarner in the playoff could be huge honestly. He been there done that, even if he is not the Bumgarner of old.
  13. I would love to get him as well, always wanted him back from his brewer days... But the cost is going to be insane for a rent-a-pitcher. While contending teams are preforming bidding wars on Smith, I would personally talk Trevor Gott with the Giants and search for the ace reliever elsewhere.
  14. Dang Gonzalez is such a important piece in our lineup and flexibility, hopefully Astudillio can stay hot... Another reliever Popper pass over Reed. I am starting to feel like this front office doesn't think much of Jake Reed, much like all the other "high talent arms" they gave away. I mean Poppen has been good from stat lines, but I just feel Reed needs a chance.
  15. I have argued this personally for at least a month now... give Cave and a 45 overall prospect I feel this would be a no brainier for both sides. But not sure what other teams would be willing to offer.
  16. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if it was Torreyes (.128/.172/.267) in AAA. I almost wish it would be Reed, something is just plan wrong with him, but at this point they won't cut bait on 8.5 million, he will get every opportunity to prove himself when his rehab is over.
  17. I would be very upset if we dealt the farm for a "top catcher". The asking price is ridiculous, I guess a .270 hitting catcher with some added pop does nothing for me, we have that and his name is Garver, I feel he work extremely hard behind the plate last year to become better at defense, why not see what he can do, since it seems like the Twins are punting this year anyway. People have said it already, its a position of luxury to have a good hitting catcher. Marlins will probably might end up getting 2 top 50 guys or 3 top 100. I also feel this would be a different conversion if our current core actually turned into what we all expected.
  18. Wow, i have no words for this. I never thought i would have said "I would rather have had Tillman"
  19. I agree with you that i don't think the FO messed this up or missed a good opportunity, They actually attempted to sign him which is a change from the old FO. I have 4 thoughts on the whole Darvish talks/signings 1) They offer a decent market contract 5 years 110 million (not sure the actual number). 2) Darvish absolutely had no interest in coming to MN, he really likes being in the big market teams. As hard as it is to accept for us Twins fans. 3) If the Twins matched the Cubs offer (6 years 126 million) he still would chooses the Cubs. 4) If the Twins offered the full contract value 6 Years 150 million, without opt out, would he have choose the Twins? Even so not sure i would have like that contract. I was looking at other team forums on there feeling about the owners etc. A perfect comparison to the Twins is the Cardinals, They were ripping there owner/FO for sitting on there hands for much of the offseason when the Cubs and Brewers are adding to become better. They don't shell out the big money contracts either. But they find ways to win with what they have with teams that are just average in my mind. I wish we had the success they have. As far as the Twins I feel this whole situation is about how we can only spend big once in a window and we need to hit a homerun on that contract, was Darvish that guy who knows? I just wish we could just get to the point where we can develop pitching talent in the pipeline that we can count on.
  20. Good morning everyone, With the trades over the last few days the Twins currently are sitting at 23 players on the active roster. Has anyone heard what the call-ups will be? Since there were a few days off I would believe they won't call up a starter until its necessary, so my assumption would be a reliever will be called up, and Buxton to be activated? What do you think the moves will be?
  21. If Terry could pull this off, I would call this a win. But my guess we would need to throw in money in this deal (15 million?) and we would get another low A guy. But will the Twins throw in money? I just don't know if they would.
  22. From what I believe I have heard in the past around discussions like this, if you have a no-trade clause you are forced to protect that player in case of expansion draft.
  23. So I was wondering about this, Is there no rules written to prevent this? It seems like this could be a big deal. Much like the Astros last year with Daz Cameron, it prevents teams from getting a talented player because they basically got a verbal agreement in place.
  24. Thank you for the clarification.
  25. So is there another move or 2 coming for the bullpen? Right now we have 5 in the bullpen JepsenMayAbadPresslyTonkinIn the Rotation we have NolascoSantanaHughesDuffeyBerriosWhat am I missing?
