  1. I am just in shock on these moves, I was never a fan of O'Rourke because he was never used correctly in the first place. But I can't believe Graham, you keep him on the 25 man all of last year to cut him early this year? I don't get why a guy like Graham is being cut when Pat Dean is still on the 40 man roster. This front office is now going into full panic mode to see if anything sticks on the wall, not a great way to run a team.
  2. I get the idea behind this, but i feel the easy solution is just create the extra roster spot, for the 26th man, and call it a day. I can see this if there is steam behind the DH in the NL. But I also think another solution mentioned earlier, is to lower the 15 day DL. I think its safe to say this CBA contract negotiation will be a very interesting one, and will likely contain some big changes. I just pray there is no strike with this one.
  3. I agree, I do not know if we can count on Dozier next year. Look at the stats below, if you lead the league in pull percentage by over 4%, the league will have his number if he doesn’t make any adjustments.
  4. In a Tweet from Mike Berardino "#MNTwins "were aware" #Yankees were willing to move LHP Justin Wilson for prospects, Terry Ryan said. "We're going to be OK."" I just wanna say I do support Terry Ryan, but when he says the whole "we are fine" reminds me of the bullpen issues last year, that they sat on there hands until the last couple hours of the trade deadline. I am not an advocate to do a move just because, but when there is a chance to improve a weakness, i don't know if wait and see if a bargain is available is the right direction to go.
  5. I'm with you, I dream that Will Smith would be our guy, but I think I am just scared to see the asking price of any trade options. I look at what Justin Wilson fetched, compared to Brett Lawrie. Its just crazy that a reliever received a better return over a everyday player. Thats the only reason I would push hard for a Free agent. It only cost you money.
  6. No surprise to me there. I was actually surprised that Deolis Guerra was selected.
  7. From La Velle Neal's lastest article post "The Twins remain in the hunt for a lefty reliever, but I was told that Tony Sipp and Antonio Bastardo aren't their targets. Double-checking that one." http://www.startribune.com/winter-meetings-update-on-nolasco-pitching-targets-extra-outfielder/361305111/ Looks like dumpster diving time
  8. Thank you for reminding myself about this, I was excited when I learned about the signing. I just hope if he gets a spot in the rotation and he falls on his face they are not afraid to demote him to the pen. Just because he make 12 million is not a reason to have a spot in the rotation.
  9. I also have a question, since the Twins have a high probability of losing Zach Jones to the Rule 5 draft tomorrow, can they trade him to a team and can that team then add him to the 40 man roster? Or is he locked from being added to the 40 man?
  10. I agree I would love this deal if it were possible, I always have a hard time judging what a reliever would take in a trade. If it were possible to get him for a top 10 - top 15 prospect plus a lottery ticket I would pull the trigger on this.
  11. I am starting to question if they will only add a reliever via trade. If so has anyone done some research on possible Lefty trade targets, and what there possible cost would be?
  12. I am still concerned with our bullpen. We are all assuming Perk will be healthy. For the sake of argument let say Perk is on the shelf / or not preforming to the standard we have been accustomed too. Also in this case lets say by some sort of miracle May wins a spot in the rotation. We have Jepsen to closing out the game, but who will be bridging the gap? That's a very scary thought to me.
  13. I have to agree with this. I keep going back to the interview/quotes from the end of the season on how the front office noticed how well a lock-down bullpens preformed so well for teams in the postseason. But if your not willing to spend money on getting someone how are you going to get this? How is 3 year 15 Million for Sipp expensive, compared to the deals already signed in this offseason? I get that we have possible bullpen prospects, but most of us felt Burdi was going to be ready last year and instead of doing so, he took a step backwards.
  14. I know there was rumors that the Twins had interest in bring back Boyer. I would much rather have Fien over him any day of the week. I remember we could count on him getting important outs previous year in the 8th facing the 3, 4, 5 batters. I have a feeling we will see the Fien of old days since he should be healthy, and I would take that in a heartbeat if he's our 3rd best right hand arm in the pen.
  15. I would even put Upton > Robinson > Santana I really like the idea of this trade. Like most, I do not believe for one second that the Twins will put Sano in the outfield. I just feel its more of a fallback if the do not receive a great offer for Plouffe. I do feel Sano is athletic enough to play out there but just to all of a sudden "Hey Sano grab a outfield glove" when he has never played outfield before is a stretch in my mind. I like a outfield of Arcia, Upton, Rosario a lot better than Sano, Santana/Robinson, Rosario. But the question is if we get Upton, would this block Kepler?
  16. Great article Parker, always a fun read. I think if Park can hit .250 with 25 - 30 HR, I would be pleased. But I also believe Arica can put up those numbers, but I have kind of given up with him. He has so much potential and it seems like he doesn't care if he plays in the majors or stays in AAA. At least this guy seems like he wants to come here and work to become a great player.
  17. I have been a huge fan of this site for sometime, and I feel like its time for me to join in on the comments. After letting the trade settle in for a few hours, I think this is a fair trade. I have been a huge supporter of Hick though his major league struggles, I wish him the best in NY. But he may end up becoming only a platoon hitter 4th outfielder type, or he may figure out how to hit righties someday, who knows. With Buxton's arrival his value may not have been higher. With Murphy he hasn't been given a chance to play everyday, I like to reference Francisco Cervelli as he was a backup for years, and he was given a chance to play this last year. The argument can be made that Cervelli's minor league BABIP could have predicted his success. But that's the beauty of trades and the unknown. I assume the cost of Lucroy and Norris is out of this world. We saw what a throw away backup catcher netted us in return last night, so I get the cost. A catcher is always going to be more expensive than other positions. But worst case for both teams is they are both a platoon hitter at there respective position, the bright side at least we got a catcher who in his career has thrown out twice as many runner over Suzuki's numbers last year.
