  1. I agree with this logic, but I don't think Dozier will be a perennial 6+ WAR. I don't believe he'll put up these types of numbers for the duration of his contract. That's why I'm on the "trade him while the iron is hot" bandwagon. The team needs pitching badly, trading a guy coming off of a 6 WAR season is a means to acquire it. I'm comfortable with Polanco replacing him. Quality pitching isn't easy to come by. That being said, they need to get a nice haul for him. Giving him away would be an absolute mistake. It would be better to keep him at that point.
  2. Therein lies the problem... I don't see why anyone should not get decent playing time. Polanco should be playing every day. Rotating the corners shouldn't be that big of a deal with Beresford getting some mop up duty and spot starts for Polanco and Dozier.
  3. It's always great to see hard work and determination rewarded. Even if this is just a Thank You call up, I still feel that he's earned it. I really hope that he's able to play and get some AB's.
  4. The one thing that I knew that I could count on to bring some positivity every day in this miserable season. Thank you for the hard work and I look forward to more of the same next season! Reading about what's coming down the pipeline provides hope. Hope is what keeps people going.
  5. As long as the young guys are playing and playing well, I'm happy win or lose. I just want signs of progress and the overall outcome of the game means less to me at this point. That doesn't mean that I don't care or that I want them to lose, it's just not the most important thing to me at this point of this season. Part of the process of growing as a player is to figure out how and what it takes to win at this level, regardless of what the season record is.
  6. What sort of berries? Could we just make smoothies for everyone so that Berrios would no longer be blocked?
  7. I agree completely with all of that, including the bit on Kintzler. But in the context in which this argument was framed, Kintzler blocking anyone is odd considering the other names that would be higher on the list of guys blocking prospects. Get through those names first and if there are still prospects left deserving to be up with the big club, I'd be right there too. But that wasn't how the context was framed. Obvious DFA candidates were bypassed for a guy that's actually earning his spot.
  8. Ok, how are the likes of Albers, Dean, O'Rourke, and even Wimmers or Tonkin not blocking him? That's not even considering Milone, who will come off the DL at some point. I'm confused why an effective guy is blocking somebody when far less effective guys are not. That doesn't make sense.
  9. Who is Kintzler blocking? He's been one of the more effective relievers this season, which isn't a long list by any means. Surely the guys that have been outrighted and brought back up would be higher on the "clogger" list than someone who has actually been effective. We don't know if Garver will be brought up after the AAA season is over, so Suzuki isn't really blocking anyone until that point. I do agree though, I'd like to see this team figure out their catching position going into next season rather than watch Suzuki.
  10. Absolutely it does. This team hasn't believed that all year though, so why are they starting to all of a sudden now? A bit late to that part I'd say. Secondly, it's one player. It's not as though both corners would be occupied by guys striking out at a horrific rate. Rosario plays CF, Kepler in RF, ABW or Palka in LF.
  11. It's not stupid at all. But the players being used in that role have to be capable of doing it. That list of players isn't nearly as long as what the Twins seem to believe.
  12. I had that thought last night as well. Judging by the towering nature of all three fly balls, he was definitely uppercutting. The fly out in the 8th went well above the reach of the lights. I'm happy that's he's making contact, and that first at bat was a good one, but he really needs to level out that swing. Ken Griffey, Jr he is not.
  13. In order to even sniff the 2nd wild card spot, this team will have to get back to a .500 team first. In order to do that, they're going to have to improve by 20+ wins over this season. If they do that, I'd be absolutely elated. However, a .500 team isn't getting into the playoffs. The lowest win total of a 2nd WC spot winner was 86 games, but the others had 88 wins and over. That would be quite the improvement on a team virtually void of pitching and defense from one year to the next. I just don't see that as realistic for next season. I'd absolutely love to be wrong, but I just don't see it happening.
  14. That'll just have to do for now then.
  15. No more tequila for you! It really would be a great change of pace though. Atlanta already won today too.
  16. Molitor is still trying to figure out a way to get Schafer and Buxton into the lineup. I might need some tequila if that actually happens. Edit: It's been a productive day. I'm out of likes.
  17. No Rotten Tomatoes score? What kind of film forum is this?!
  18. TD...where the spelling is Canadian and the punctuation doesn't matter.
  19. and how many you've already had, I'm sure.
  20. Well, I mean you could blend it and drink it then.
  21. And Canadian spelling... Either you're into the margaritas or something serious is wrong.
  22. Hey, so will I! Except, I'll be at Target Field! Sorry, the cheap shot was far too obvious to ignore.
  23. That's pretty much how I make mine, too. The 1 part lime turns into a lemon juice/lime juice/simple syrup mix, but otherwise it's the same. They are popular when I make them.
  24. We've found it's best to let people go on a Friday.
