  1. Me too. I still don't understand trig though. I'm generally very good at math, but trig makes no sense at all to me.
  2. I was thinking calculus or trigonometry, but that works too!
  3. I'm always curious, what happens when the alphabet from another language gets involved?
  4. Recipe for success...for the opposition.
  5. He says as he gets a swinging strikeout! ?
  6. You should have better timing...
  7. I reckon you'd be correct, I reckon.
  8. Gotta love the dedication to the bit! It is a bit, right?!
  9. I was hoping they'd make it less interesting by actually doing something.?
  10. I use the term "prohibited" in jest. But you're right, it's all if good fun.
  11. I tried to tell him that math was prohibited in game threads! ?
  12. Over. That's a good o/u, Chief. You should work in Vegas!
  13. Not true. Statistics have nothing to do with my comment, you brought in that context. The 4 teams could all be one game apart, but the 4th place team is still the fourth place team if they have three teams ahead of them. You took the comment far more seriously than it was intended.
  14. First of all, this is a game thread. Math is prohibited. Secondly, it is correct in that they can't get to 1st place without passing the 3rd place team. To do so, they have to get closer to, and then surpass, the 3rd place. They'd also have to then pass the 2nd place team following the same procedures.
  15. That's almost like rubbing salt in his wounds! It was the throw that pulled him off the bag. That's on the 3B and Craig actually made the catch cleanly.
  16. I've chalked this up as being the dumbest play that I've ever seen. I even yelled at the TV when I first saw it. Which, in and of itself, is irrational because I don't have a horse in the race. The trigger to react to the complete lack of situational awareness set me off. Baez's craziness must have tricked the entire Pirates team because not one of them tries to get Craig to simply touch 1B. And then they compounded it by not covering 1B. Had someone, anyone, done so and recorded the out at 1B, the run wouldn't have counted since Baez had yet to reach base safely.
  17. Hey, they can't get closer to first place without first getting closer to third place! So, there's that! It would also be a plus to get further away from 5th place.
  18. Why ya gotta go burst Ethan's bubble like that? Just because we can't be happy about how things are going, doesn't mean that he can't!
  19. I don't know if or how long this hot streak will last, but I'll definitely take it. It's also come at a good time for the team. It is nice that his hard work has paid off, even if just for a short while. He's getting his opportunity and he's taking full advantage of it.
  20. I'm glad they won, but the fact that the only runs were scored on one hit against the O's lackluster pitchers today doesn't give me many warm fuzziest.
  21. As odd as it is for me to say, I'd actually argue that the league not intervening earlier is how we got here in the first place. They didn't do anything when the extreme shifts became en vogue. The game evolved naturally by hitting over the shift. The added emphasis on launch angles, exit velo and HRs turned the game into what it is now. And it is true that once the league finally did intervene, they made it worse. The pitching evolution isn't much different, except the league hasn't stepped in yet. I was hoping that the game would evolve to hit opposite the shift, but that clearly didn't happen. I'm not convinced that it will at this point. I like that the league tests new rules in the minors to see the real world impacts of them. That's the way it should be. They didn't do that with deadened baseball and see what happened.
  22. I'll take the sweep, but once again, that was far more interesting at the end then it needed to be. This coming from a guy who just spent the last handful of comments commenting on how there's no action and the game has become boring...
