  1. Agreed, he's not wrong. This goes back to the importance of leverage early on. Locking the players out gave the owners the upper hand from the start. This was very likely the intent the whole time.
  2. They did extend Buxton. That was no guarantee even after they dealt Berrios. Also worth noting that the offseason isn't technically over, it's on hold. They may still spend more of that money. We should get back on topic, however.
  3. Agreed, hence the lack of optimism. At this rate it'll be settled by spring training of next season.
  4. Small moves are still moves towards resolution. Still not all that optimistic but at least they're moving in the right direction.
  5. Neither side wants to lose money/pay, so now that it's a reality it only makes sense that both sides would be more willing to actually negotiate and quit screwing around.
  6. I can see this happening very easily. The owners don't show much urgency, so it seems that they're fine with dragging this out until this point. They know that the players will have more urgency long before this point.
  7. I've not considered myself to be optimistic about a May start, but that is probably a fair label at this point.
  8. I've been saying a May start seems most likely for a while now. I don't see anything that has changed my mind about that.
  9. With the last developments and the start of Spring Training officially being delayed, when do you think the lockout will end and the season begin?
  10. As exemplified by his .547 winning percentage.
  11. That's what you get for not including a "Yes" option in your poll! ?
  12. I'd say he's middle of the pack. It's hard to evaluate managers, but he's got a winning record and a couple of division titles to his name. There's plenty of brow raising in game stuff, but he's not a detriment to the team.
  13. I don't think it was a mistake. Issues aside, extending home grown talent with his potential is a good thing typically. Has it worked out as hoped? Not exactly, but it can still bear fruit. While he was signed as a SS, he wasn't expected to stick there. Becoming a DH only type is a disappointment, but if he can build in his second half of last season it won't be a bad thing.
  14. That does seem fitting, doesn't it.
  15. Welcome to Twins Daily and keep the comments coming!
  16. I'd argue the point, but you could be correct!
  17. I don't have any idea how I found this site, but I'm definitely glad that I did! What keeps me around is the good discussion, commentary and variety of contributor content. Whether it be the writers or the commenters, there's always good information to be found here. It's a pretty good community to belong to.
  18. I'm sure there was a very thorough discussion on the proposal too. ?
  19. Congratulations on a great career, Ryan Zimmerman!  Enjoy retirement!

  20. That's some hard hitting journalism instinct there! Asking the real questions!
  21. MLBPA wants stud players to hit free agency sooner. Or at least be eligible for it, arbitration or an extension sooner. Manipulating service time hinders that. Making it more difficult for cheap teams to keep those studs isn't really the MLBPA's concern.
  22. This sounds like an episode of South Park.
