  1. Roy Smalley: I love him as a fan, but he’s incredibly boring.
  2. I love Salvador Perez. It’s a park where I play soccer. I also love how Sal just struck out.
  3. Looks like a good game to see at Wrigley, if you don’t like the Cubs.
  4. I predict Duffy will throw at Rosario in this game. I'd love to see Rosario crush him and have a Duffy melt-down tonight.
  5. Will also has the same philosophy about climate change.
  6. They also failed to put the game away in the first half. It should have been at least 2-0 at halftime. Harry Kane will be having nightmares about his misses.
  7. Promote him until he struggles. All athletes need to be playing at levels that challenge them. I worry that failing to promote the most talented players leads to complacency. And the timeline should be “when he’s ready” without limitations.
  8. Left Hip Impingement? Didn’t I see them play 7th Street Entry in the ‘80s?
  9. 1.) Where are you from? St. Paul, mostly. St. Peter for a short stint, Minneapolis for a bit. College in LA area, lived in San Fran for a bit, then back to MN. I've been in Santa Fe, NM since 1996. 2.) Age Range? 48 3.) What brought you to Twins Daily? Just looking for Twins content. 4.) Highest level of baseball/softball played? Sixth grade, when my eye glasses prescription continued to change so rapidly, I couldn't see smaller and faster objects so well, and I dropped hockey and baseball for basketball and soccer. 5.) Favorite Twins Player, and favorite underappreciated Twins player, and if you want, favorite current Twins player? Favorite was Kirby, then Carew and Hrbek. Underappreciated? Jim Kaat. I've only seen him mentioned once in this thread as part of a bunch of "60s Twins as favorites. Should be in the HOF, in my opinion. Rosario is my current favorite. 6.) Favorite non-Twins Daily site/authors? I enjoy following soccer games on BBC. 7.) Favorite Twitter follows? NA. 8.) Other interests outside of baseball. Family (wife, 6-year-old daughter, 2 dogs), soccer (I still play, even if it's dinosaur leagues and tournaments, my teams are Liverpool and the Portland Timbers), music (grew up playing the violin), hiking with dogs. 9.) Favorite part of Twins Daily... forums, blogs, articles, topics... whatever you like. Game threads, recaps and minor league reports. 10.) Tell us what we can do better. What features or other topics would you like to see in-season or out of season? You're doing great. And if you weren't doing great, I'm sure there are a few regulars on this site who would tell you so. 11.) Have you been to any of the Twins Daily "events?" No.
  10. I’ve been wondering when we’d get any kind of update on Sano. Doesn’t surprise me that he’s being a good teammate and displaying a good attitude. Maybe he was rushed back after the surgery and a less than ideal off season? I hope he gets back to the Twins healthy, happy and raking.
  11. Been telling everyone that will listen that Croatia was my dark horse. However, now that they’re up against England, and have just slogged through two extra time games and penalties, I think “it’s coming home” for England, who have always been my team. That’s a full on jinx, obviously. Side note: if you want to see some of the best unintentional humor since the Super Bowl shuffle, check out the videos for the English teams over the years, with a special shout out to New Order’s video for the 1990 World Cup. It may be the worst video on the most levels in the history of music videos.
  12. Considering the quality of their arguments, I assume they did compare notes and decided they were covering two entirely different topics: “I’m writing an article about how the Twins were dumb to spend money on free agents.” “Well I’m writing an article on how all of the teams who wouldn’t sign free agents this past offseason were smarter than the Twins.” Cool, no redundancy there at all!
  13. These are both just terribly stated arguments. There are plenty of people on this site who would do a much better job with the same column length. Reusse, in particular, argues that we “blew past” our previous high payroll, and then gives as examples of money wasted, Hughes and Santana. He also ignores the relative size of payroll considering the league-wide inflation over the past 8 years. Souhan claims that because of analytics, every team knew that the free agents the Twins signed weren’t worth the money spent on them. But provides absolutely no evidence for this position. This is why I generally don’t read these columnists, but come here for thoughtful and defendable opinions.
  14. Mauer’s was to the warning track, Escobar’s was to the wall, Kepler’s didn’t make the center fielder move much.
  15. I used to live in the apartments across the street from the Uptowner on Grand. Loved that place. Especially good Cajun breakfast after the bars closed. Was there basically from 1993-1996. Great intro. Will raise a glass to Moose.
  16. 2 of 3 against Cleveland and Boston. One loss and the season’s over?
  17. I’m just happy we have an Eddie in the lineup.
  18. Apparently, we need to play the Indians more. Or, better yet, why don’t we play like we’re playing the Indians when we’re playing against other teams? Got a Rosario shirt for Father’s Day!!
