  1. Hopefully he will be an Ace for the Twins. He seems to be headed in the right direction.
  2. I have no idea what really happened and frankly it's none of my business. There may have been boorish behavior but nothing criminal. I hope this is the last I hear of it because it's going nowhere now.
  3. i'm thinking the Twins have a good shot at going deep into the playoffs. They have no glaring weaknesses this year.
  4. "launch angle" is a basic physics problem taught in freshman physics classes. The problems often involve the elevation of artillery in order to hit a target a fixed distance away. I don't remember the elevation for maximum range. Sure, hitting a round ball with a round bat is different than shooting a canon but the final equation is the same.
  5. Dozier is only 31. I figure he has 3 or 4 really good years left. Athletes playing at a high level in their mid 30s is not unusual at all.
  6. Last year there were 25 guys in the major leagues that hit .300 or better. Joe Maurer was one of them. He also had the 5th highest OBP in the majors. A lot of people are acting like he is done. I don't get it. Here's a guy that plays gold-glove caliber defense and is an elite hitter. I think the FO should do what it takes to resign him. #1 OBP guy(Mike Trout) will make 34 million this year.
  7. I think it's little early to be critical of anybody. They have only been in a couple of games.
  8. @ashburyjohn Those multi million deals spread over many years are simply bad for the teams. At the end of them the player is often simply not what he was when he signed. For the most part the Maurer worked out OK aside from his injury years but that's a gamble with any contract.
  9. An Ace is a luxury. I'd much rather have a good solid rotation than an Ace. Aces win about 20 games a year and lose a few. That leaves about 140 games for the other guys to win or loose.
  10. I imagine Dozier will resign with the Twins. He might get a hefty raise to boot.
  11. I usually listen to the games on the radio. I do other things with the game in the background. As far as I am concerned the length of the games is just fine. Low scoring games go by fairly quickly while the high scoring games do take a while. Those baserunners are the real problem. They tend to advance one base at a time and the clock ticks away.
  12. Maurer had a pretty good year last year. There were only 17 guys in MLB with a better batting average. I don't know why the Twins would want to move on.
  13. This is a quote from ESPN from a few days ago. “Better. I work really hard,” Sano said. “I worked with the trainers here [in Fort Myers] for a few months, and I [went] back to the Dominican for a few days and I worked with [Fernando] Tatis, and now we’re here, excited to do my job.” Apparently he's not just sitting around.
  14. Those head and shoulder pics really don't show much. Try some of these. http://www.photofile.com/SportsProducts/player/baseball/Miguel-Sano.html These are better pics.
  15. There are lots of pictures of Sano on various internet sites. He doesn't look fat in any of the ones I've seen. Keep in mind that muscle weighs more than fat.
  16. I was getting tired of reading about Darvish every other post. It's time to move on.
  17. This is fun. It's difficult to come up with a list like this but this one is as good as any other.
  18. I don't pay much attention to talk about the Twins payroll. The Pohlads have lots and lots of money. Suppose the payroll was 200 million. Who could they get for the extra 100 million? MLB players don't grow on trees.
  19. This not the right forum for this type of discussion.
  20. Trading our best pitcher seem kind of silly to me. We need more good pitchers not less.
  21. This is a very good point. Well said.
