  1. Congratulations to the Miracle, and thanks to Seth for the article. I look forward to seeing the prospect descriptions for these players in this winter's handbook.
  2. We can argue about who deserves blame There are lots of candidates -- * the coaches * the players * the pitching staff * the defense * the minor league coaches * the scouts * the front office It seems to me that we will never have enough data to apportion the blame with any degree of accuracy. I believe that this debate is interesting, but think that people should keep in mind that there are alternative explanations for every deficiency in the team's performance.
  3. If the Twins could manage to lose every remaining game, they could get to 101 losses and perhaps the #2 draft pick. Maybe we need that pick to get a pitcher who can come up fast and make a difference, or some other player who can help fairly soon.
  4. I wonder what the record is for 90+ losing seasons in a row.
  5. Thanks for posting this. I love the fact that so many prospects are getting playoff experience, and winning. Hopefully some of this will gradually bubble up to the MLB level.
  6. Pinto took two right down the middle then swung at a ball. Hopefully he will learn from that.
  7. At least we get the tying run the the plate. Sorta reminds me of last night.
  8. I think that you may have posed naked for some guy who tricked you. That was a wasted day for you.
  9. You and ChiTown are not adequately appreciated for setting up the game threads. If you keep this up, then eventually you should get bronze statues at TD headquarters.
  10. If the Twins lose tonight then they will have 80 losses for the season, with 21 games to go.
  11. I thought that RB's setup was especially profound tonight.
  12. Losing to the Angels?
  13. We could use two strikeouts in this situation. It would be nice to have a flame throwing reliever in the pen.
  14. Chief is just showing off here. One of Chief's grandchildren invented Roman numerals.
  15. I love these articles where the videos illustrate the analysis. Well done.
  16. Trevor May gets his first win. I hope that he has many more. Where is Chief to call this one?
  17. A good game for the Twins and a good game thread. Life goes on.
  18. This has been an interesting thread, and people have been frank yet respectful. Nick, you have done a great job of keeping this interesting and you have received some great analysis from our members. I tend to agree with those who would like to see the Twins go for an ace and a LF. Most of us seem to view these positions as areas of need, but some people have expressed concern about the likelihood that an ace free agent would want to play for a 90+ loss team. I wonder if Scherzer might appreciate the benefits of playing at Target Field and the general ambiance of the Twin Cities. Maybe Scherzer appreciates the devotion/class of Twins fans that he sees when he plays at Target Field and maybe he would like to be the undisputed leader of a pitching staff. Maybe Scherzer would like to be part of a rebuilding effort that will soon include Buxton, Sano etc. If the Twins were to offer top dollar, it seems like Scherzer might logically conclude that playing for the Twins could be his best move.
  19. Milone has had some periods of good performance in the past. I wish that Parker would do an article with videos comparing his past pitching with what we have seen recently.
  20. Interesting article, Nick. Do you see Berrios as a potential ace?
  21. I would guess that Polanco would be thrilled with a call up, even if he were told up front that he might not play at all. Wouldn't this give him a month of MLB minimum salary and an opportunity to work out with the team every day? Polanco may or may not turn out to be a MLB regular. But it seems to me that a call up would be a cost efficient way to show appreciation for his good performance so far and possibly to slightly improve his skills.
  22. Moderator note -- let's not stray into making this a personal discussion between two posters.
  23. Sadly, the woman who puts such parties together seems to have stopped. I miss the dancing and the balloons.
  24. You are correct on both counts. Too bad that I have no more likes to give today.
