  1. I had a 5 hour meeting today and just got back from a 2 hour meeting. I need to rest up before doing anything else, plus I want to collect my winnings before things happen that might cause me to forget.
  2. It appears that I picked a good day to bet on the Twins.
  3. I am in Vegas tonight. I won't be able to follow the game, but have a bet down for the Twins to win. Go Twins!!!
  4. I wish that someone would compile a list of the worst starters who are still starting for other teams that have a chance of contending, then look at their catching prospects. I would love to see the Twins trade a pitcher for a catching prospect who has a high ceiling.
  5. I think that another X factor might be concern about his reputation and legacy. Also, if the Twins offered a settlement for him to stay home with his wife and kids, that might be appealing. Or maybe he might want to eventually try some other job in the organization. No one can say for certain what is causing Mauer's poor play, but if he feels that he is not going to get better then perhaps there could be a win-win solution.
  6. Moderator note -- if your post in this thread has been deleted, then it's because you were trolling, engaging in a personal attack or squabbling, or because you quoted a post that crossed one or more of these lines. 7. There are cave drawings of Chief as a child beside a wooly mammoth.
  8. Another great article in this series. Thanks, John.
  9. It's great to have you back, Brian. I wish that the Twins could hit as well as you can write.
  10. I know I guy who went there, but parking tickets are not his sweet spot.
  11. Papaya is better. Welcome back old friend.
  12. Sometimes the Twins come back when I take the dog for a walk, so I am going to try that.
  13. I will keep that in mind. I am thinking that the margins could be HUGE in the case of professional ballclubs. What would a team pay to reduce the risk of a catcher concussion by 50% or more?
  14. I get the Royals feed about half the time. In my mind, their broadcast team is vastly superior. I would pay extra to have my choice of feed. In general, it seems like other teams have better broadcasters.
  15. Having a plus catcher is a huge advantage. Mauer provided that advantage to the Twins for years and I think that helped a lot. Now, as a first baseman, he seems to be providing a minus.
  16. Hypothetically, if someone could invent a catcher's mask that would reduce the impact of a baseball by more than 50%, would it make sense for Mauer to move back to catcher? Or are his knees too far gone? I have some ideas for a better catcher's mask that I would like to patent and license to all major and minor league teams, excluding the White Sox, Royals, Tigers and Indians. I need an engineer to help and have been too busy to look for one.
  17. This inning reminds me of last year. Let's hope that the Twins can pick up Gibby with some runs.
  18. Rally time. It looks like the last 3 hitters in our order are hot tonight. We need to get to them.
  19. You can't let them freeze in the winter, but if your bin is small it could easily be brought inside. A basement might be a good place to winter them. Also note that their decomposing food produces heat.
  20. We are reducing the load on local landfills while producing high quality organic fertilizer. Also, it's amazing to see how quickly they can eat huge quantities of food.
