  1. He pitched fairly well today. Those two runs really weren't his fault at all. He showed the ability to pitch out of some jams, and forget about the previous outing. This shouldn't cost him his job.
  2. Well, there we go. On the board!
  3. Dear Mr. Herrmann- You're application to our institution has been accepted. http://www.ringling.com/funniestkid/images/logo.jpg

  5. I'm sorry. This vote cannot be processed at this time. Please try again at a later time and with a different answer.
  6. Have you mastered spinning a pen around your index finger yet? http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view/937951/pen-spinning-o.gif Also, I'm a little bit jealous that you're getting your own category.
  7. I would say that is true for some players, but not all. Some players like knowing the stability and knowing where they're going to be for the next few years. If you sign a bunch of guys to extensions, then turn around and trade them that year, agents are going to stop letting the people they represent sign those extensions. Also, usually the point of signing players to extensions is so that you can control your costs. Throwing more money at free agents doesn't really accomplish that. Either way, I still believe that Hughes will add a lot of value to this team in the next few years. If I had to trade a pitcher to get get Santana into the rotation, Hughes wouldn't be the guy I traded.
  8. They just signed Hughes to an extension. They're not going to trade him. No player would ever sign an extension with your team again. Simple as that. I actually think that Hughes will have more value in 2016 and 2017 than he will in a trade at this point, so I would hang on to him. I was at the Friday and Saturday Twins Brewers games, and I was against using the DH in the National League. After watching pitchers flail away helplessly, I'm all in favor of the DH now. Here's hoping the Twins forget about Milwaukee and really take it to the Reds.
  9. This is true, but some team is going to make a mistake and offer one to a guy that takes it eventually. We've already seen teams miss out on draft picks because guys rejected the offer and didn't sign until after the draft. I don't know if Desmond is that guy or not, but it is a gamble. Some players, a team knows that they won't accept it. For example, there was no way Sandoval was going to take the QO last year. There are some more fringey players that may try it out though. I'm actually surprised the Cuddy didn't take his last year. Desmond is young enough that I that he could get more years on the contract. Then again, he may want to take a guaranteed higher pay day for a year so he can rebuild some value before hitting free agency. Either way, I'm not really sure I'm on board with trying to trade for Desmond. I think I'd rather try out Polanco, or call up Santana again to play SS full time.
  10. I'm surprised no one has mentioned Polanco as a possible call up. The Twins have called him up for a short period of time before. It gives them another bat and MI.
  11. That version was the worst.
  12. Nope. I guess the caffeine must have been flowing and I was able to get to it quickly.
  13. Nope. He had to actually run the three bases. All of them... in one play.
  14. I do. Hughes is only at 84 pitches. He'll be out there hopefully through the 7th, so that helps.
  15. Kenny Vargas Scores all the way from first. That is not something I think we'll hear too often.
  16. I think everyone is having a little more trouble with Sale than they did with Danks.
  17. I think Joe was too busy eating Kemps.
  18. Of course this happens when I have left the radio for a few minutes. But, I'll take it anyway.
  19. I believe that he was added to the 40-man roster last winter, or he would have been eligible for the Rule 5 draft. I really think that Meyer's move to the bullpen was just to let him build confidence and the Twins have every intention to move him back to the rotation. I could see them calling Meyer up in July and letting him work out of the bullpen for the rest of the season, only to option him to AAA next year to stretch him out. That is, he really has a good spring and shows he's ready to start. This is complete speculation on my part, but it seems like a path that he could take. If he shows he can't be a starter, there is always a chance that he moves to the pen later, but I can't see the Twins giving up on him being a starter yet.
  20. This is a great article. Is it the major league team that pays the minor league salaries, or is it the team? I could see the minor league teams not being interested in paying more, as they don't have nearly the revenue that a major league team does. With that being said, the major league team could always pay the salaries if they don't already. I don't know why I thought of that, but it's just a question I had. I do believe that minor league players should be paid more.
  21. Well, I will be attending the game tonight. Hopefully, Buxton will launch his first major league home run and I will catch it in the home run porch. Then I will give it back to the young man. He'll probably want that ball.
