    Great way to quantify that. It's like the OPS+ for ticket prices. But overall, the average price for tickets is too high.

    Then a strike 'em out/throw 'em out. Nolasco ERA now at 6.23. These small sample sizes make tracking ERA a lot more fun.

    When I clicked on the MLB feed, Nolasco's ERA was 20.25. It's down to 10.13 after one out though. Small sample sizes for ya. Edit: I listed Nolasco's starting ERA as 20.75. That was unfair of me as it was a full half run lower.

    I'm surprised he hasn't signed anywhere yet. It seems like the Astros could have a spot for him, but I haven't heard any rumors of him talking to any club yet. I'm betting he gets a contract somewhere fairly quickly.

    It was a grand slam. That is an appropriate time to use the bat flip. I'm really excited to see Park crush a homer to give the Twins a late inning lead and watching the ensuing bat flip.

    I'm ok with the White Sox passing on Desmond. I like seeing the White Sox roll into the season with some serious question marks on the roster.

    Very accurate post. In fact, many other teams were interested in Park. There were a number of other teams that put in a bid for Park: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/11/latest-byung-ho-park-winning-bid.html I couldn't get a certain number, but it sounds like as many as 16 teams placed a bid on him. And I can't find the statement, but it sounds like the Twins barely beat out the 2nd place bid. That is in stark contrast to Nishioka, which through all my digging, I could only find confirmation of two teams actually making a bid on him. The other team was the Red Sox who confirmed a $2MM bid (the Twins won with a $3.5MM bid). The difference between these two shows tells me a few things: 1). Park has skills that are desirable to several MLB teams. 2). The Twins' FO has a better understanding of foreign posting systems 3). The Twins' talent evaluation system is probably more in line with other teams than it was during the Nishioka fiasco. Maybe I'm drawing some incorrect conclusions here, but I do feel a lot better knowing that there were several other teams the reportedly put in very similar bids (of course, no numbers were actually released).

    There is definitely still a lot of hope for Stewart in my mind. Yes, I would also like to see a lot more strikeouts, but I think that is just a little bit away. Anyone who is inducing groundballs at 59% is doing something right. Some of those pitches are going to turn into some swinging strikes, some will probably turn into more line drives/fly balls, and many of them will continue to be groundballs. I agree this is big year for him, but I'm putting money on him making some improvements. There's still a lot of potential there and no reason to give up on him yet.

    You're right, we did hear a lot of pre-trade rumors about Morneau and Willingham and Liriano, but those were also obvious trade candidate. All of them were on expiring contracts on a team that was pretty much already out of the playoff picture. From the other FA guys that we were pursuing, there is always a chance that this sort of info was leaked by the agents to help increase their players value. But, it could have been leaked from the Twins FO. There's no way of knowing. I agree some stuff leaks out about the Twins and FAs though. A more recent example was the Hicks/Murphy trade. That one had no trade buzz leading up to it. So it could be reasonable to assume that they had also talked to teams about Plouffe during that time, but we really have no way of knowing.

    I will say this, we don't know how hard the Twins' FO tried to trade Plouffe. They probably were waiting for some other teams to ask for him, or ask for someone else so they could use Plouffe as a counter offer. The other thing I will say is, that Twins trade rumors almost never pop up until something is about to happen. The FO doesn't let a lot of things out to the media. So, in actuality, we don't know how hard they tried to trade Plouffe, if it all. They very well could have had plans to trade him and it was obvious that the market wasn't there, or the might not have tried to trade him at all. But no one who isn't in the FO can say for certain that they made no effort just because we didn't hear any rumor before hand.

    This is a big "meh" for me. I put my money on Quentin getting released before the end of spring training.

    I watch for the baseball too, but there are just some jerseys that make the game difficult to watch. Example: http://blogimages.thescore.com/mlb/files/2012/06/Twins-TATC-99-chewie.png Indifference can have some very negative consequences when it comes to jerseys.

    I don't have very string feelings towards the red jerseys. There are enough teams that wear bright red, but it is only one day a week (for now). I still prefer the home alternate jerseys the best, followed by the blue road alternate. That's just my preference. I wasn't a big fan of the uniforms they unveiled last year until I saw them in person, and they kind of grew on me. Maybe these red ones will too.

    Indirect story, but on Tuesday night my girlfriend sent me a picture of her aunt with Paul Molitor. Her aunt is a regular at the Bemidji Curling Club and apparently, Molitor and several players stopped by the curling club after their stop that day. The only player that was mentioned by name was Byron Buxton. I find the thought of Buxton curling to kind of amusing.

    If I remember correctly, these are very similar to the projections they had for 2015 as well. I seem to remember a lot of people predicting the collapse of the Royals last night and the Tigers and Indians taking over. I'll have to do some digging to find 2015 predictions, but these usually don't bother me too much. There is too much that can happen between now and the season to make take these too seriously.

    It's not just age difference. But that is one of the requirements. A player must be 23 or older and have played in a foreign professional league for a certain amount of time to not count against a team's international bonus pool. Armenteros doesn't meet either of these requirements.

    I don't think the ship has sailed on trading Plouffe. It could be that a team that is interested in him might want to know exactly how much they'd have to pay him before pulling the trigger on a trade. A team that would be interested in him should have a good idea, but they may want to get that number nailed down as he's likely to get a raise next year as well.
