  1. I don't think it's that black and white. You'd be banking on the Twins offering a QO and Dozier declining it. Not sure either of those would have been the case.
  2. Archer to the Pirates for Meadows, Glasnow, plus a third piece. Wow!
  3. Looks like a rough comparison in terms of Twins prospects would be: Pearson Balazovic Jean Carlos Arias
  4. Quantity over quality, that's the Twins way...
  5. It's behind a paywall, but it is absolutely worth the read if you subscribe to The Athletic. An oral history of game 7 of the 1991 World Series, many former Twins and Braves players/coaches are quoted. https://theathletic.com/440716/2018/07/26/jack-morris-twins-braves-game-7-1991-world-series-oral-history/
  6. Sadly Benninghoff didn't have the great outing that was stated. He actually gave up 5 hits and 4 runs in 3 innings.
  7. Rooker maybe, Lewis no chance, Kirilloff extremely doubtful, Gordon definitely, Navaretto possibly, Wade almost a certainty
  8. Point taken, but it's tough to compare the situations. Hughes didn't need to be extended, and had been average at best the prior three years. Sure, Escobar has played out of his mind this year, but it's not like it's been out of nowhere, I'd take him back even if his OPS hovers around .750 next year. Also if the Twins want Escobar back, they're going to have to give him some form of a new contract, unlike with Hughes where it wasn't necessary.
  9. Might be a lazy comparison, but maybe he turns into a right handed Morneau, especially if he moves off catcher. At first I only thought it because he kind of resembles Morneau in his picture http://uncwsports.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=5773, but then I remembered Morneau was drafted as a bat-first catcher and switched positions. They also have a similar size profile. Obviously this is a lofty goal given Morneau's status...but here's to hoping!
  10. Yup, right in the cracks of the pads in the wall
  11. Agree on both points. The only thing worse than Souhan are the comments on his articles..
  12. 1 Brian Dozier 2B 2 Joe Mauer 1B 3 Miguel Sano 3B 4 Robbie Grossman DH 5 Byron Buxton CF 6 Max Kepler RF 7 Ryan LaMarre LF 8 Ehire Adrianza SS 9 Mitch Garver C
  13. I remember him mostly as the fat kid with the mullet that mashed bombs in the little league world series.
  14. Confirmed that it’s just Palacios
  15. Rhett Bollingers tweet: "Thad Levine on trading for pitching: "The prospect of kind of weakening one part of your team to strengthen another is not appealing." Concerning to me, it makes it sound like they're not interested in trading Kepler as part of a package for Archer, would love to hear how they plan to improve the rotation otherwise. Especially considering they passed on Darvish...
  16. Not necessarily, the combination of the timing of this injury and the slow-moving free agency class says that there are still a decent amount of starting pitching options available. If this had been a mid-season injury you'd be absolutely right, but I'm hoping the Twins can turn this into a reason to finally be more aggressive with the free agent starters out there. I'd still be okay with giving one of the younger in-house guys a shot, but more as a supplement to a higher-end free agent...I'm still holding out hope they sign Darvish
  17. Jim Callis also noted on his twitter that the top 5 SS will all rank in the top 20 of the overall top 100
  18. Click tickets and then use the drop down under the "participant - all day" section.
  19. I just got my ticket for this (which was free), was informed about it from a friend. For anyone who is interested in sabermetric education, as well as a few other sports topics. Mostly baseball, but a few football and soccer classes as well. February 2 in Eden Prairie. https://sportcon2018.sched.com/
  20. That's fair, it was my initial snap judgment without looking at top 100 lists. I was more comparing the injured pitcher and OF (Kiriloff to Fowler and Jay to Kaprielian) and since the two injured Yankees are slightly higher regarded than the two injured Twins I thought maybe the difference between Gordon and Mateo would cover that difference. Sub Javier in for Gordon and it's a bit light from the Twins standpoint
