  1. If he were a guaranteed stud in the pen I'd leave him, but I'm not sure that's the case. Stretch him out and see what he can do starting
  2. I have no issue with his contract. Twins did him no favors with the personnel they surrounded him with after he signed. I operate under the assumption that besides earning a living, athletes value championships next. Mauer doesn't really fit the mold
  3. Ever heard of putting words in someone's mouth? My gosh
  4. You're implying that he's got his family around him so why would he want to leave. I'm implying that he's wealthy enough to leave and easily still have family around. It's noble to stay and want to win in your hometown, but it's not going to happen here for him. I don't think it's that crazy to say he should want to play for a winner
  5. If he's fine wasting away in a losing market that's his issue. He's extremely wealthy. Don't act like it would be an enormous burden for him to play somewhere else for a few years
  6. I said Mauer should want to be traded, not that the twins will look to trade him. The future hypothetical signing of Mauer would strictly be a PR move, which is something the Twins are known for.
  7. Mauer should really want to be traded at this point. He can play these next two plus years with a contender and then if he still wants to play he can come back and finish out back in Minnesota for cheap when we should be competitive again
  8. This would leave us with a bad team now and with no future to look forward to. No thanks
  9. Let's assume things are done completely wrong, which there is a decent chance of. Plouffe is re-signed to play 3rd and be a middle of the order "slugger." Sano is the right fielder of the future. Dozier is second baseman of the future. Escobar and Nunez are here next year. Park is DH. Polanco plays once a week. This is scary but I don't think it's all that unlikely.
  10. This is the definition of "The Twins Way"
  11. I don't care if a team once went 30-132 and then made the playoffs the next season. Anyone who's watched these Twins should be able to realize that they are not making the playoffs next year
  12. Nah, don't really see anyone covering up his struggles. What I do see is others placing a large portion of the blame on the way the Twins used him, whereas you are only blaming Arcia. Big difference
  13. If Danny Santana is worn down from his moderate use in CF, then that just magnifies even more why he shouldn't be a major leaguer. That's an extremely weak excuse for poor hitting from an athletic guy in his mid 20s
  14. Go young and hope enough rise up to provide us a solid core and then in 3 or 4 years buy the big guns in FA to push us to the top. An ace on this staff would be pointless right now with all other aspects of the team in shambles.
  15. Hughes and Nolasco should be in the pen if they aren't traded.
  16. Unfortunate for Glen and the Twins. Should have been moved to a contender 2 years ago. Now his career is likely over after spending the last 5 plus years being one of if not the best player on a big loser
  17. Jim Pohlad would make these decisions of course! He's not afraid of making big decisions
  18. If a group of 10 rational guys on Twins Daily had all of the info that Terry Ryan has had and voted on each decision, with a 7-3 majority required, then I'm fairly certain the organization would be in a better place.
  19. It is interesting that there is a somewhat rational, albeit immoral, train of thought that can get these guys to say "well it sucks that my character might take a hit, but that 7 figure salary I pull off will sure help me and my family." Then they can deny deny deny and say it was a mistake. Character takes a hit, but the majority of the big contract remains guaranteed. No player would ever admit this, but it has to be something players wrestle over.
  20. Beating that time frame will take some seriously aggressive maneuvering by the FO, which shouldn't be out of the question but is a lot to ask from this group. I'd move Dozier for a decent prospect regardless of position, but I'm also probably looking further into the future than you and don't see him being decent in 2017/2018 as all that valuabe.
  21. Hasn't the contend in 2017/2018 ship already sailed? Maybe I'm wrong but I don't see contention until at least 2019
  22. He will go to an organization where he is wanted and he will hit .250 with 20-30 home runs annually and carve out a nice career for himself. Twins have made it clear that they want no part of him for whatever reason and I'm sure for Arcia the feeling is mutual.
  23. I agree with you completely that it shouldn't be like this, but unfortunately it is. Hope is all we can do
  24. Hughes and Nolasco to the pen and hope they can hit 94-96 for an inning. If not, DFA. Sunk costs, Terry. Rotation: Berrios, Duffey, Gibson, Santana, and May. This all based on the current situation. I hope to God something changes and Dozier or Plouffe become valuable and another promising arm comes into the mix but I'm not holding my breathe. Also hoping for new decision makers but again not going to hold my breathe. Milone should be someone's fifth starter in the majors right now so I'm hoping he can be flipped for a prospect. This rotation doesn't inspire much optimism but we can hope that next year starts out on a better note and confidence is gained and built upon rather than crushed immediately as was the case this year.
  25. Sorry I misinterpreted the question. He was stuck with a lot of garbage that year. Some of it on him though. There was no reason not to deal Josh Willingham
