  1. Just the ages of Gibson and Miller alone would be enough for me to say do it. Gibson will be 31 the entire 2019 season when we are going to be just starting to compete while Miller will be 27. This is a really good buy low situation and fits our timeline
  2. Well we're due to be on the right side of a heist in MN! And heist of the decade might have already occurred today for the yanks!
  3. Ervin and Nolasco for him straight up. Rotation spot and money opens up and get a guy who could potentially be good if he figures it out. Worst case you lost Santana for nothing, but at least you went for it.
  4. We have the "luxury" right now to let him keep working through his fielding issues. I'm fairly optimistic that he'll be able to turn himself into an adequate 3rd baseman by next year. No reason to panic yet
  5. Is it possible that Pohlad just decided to freeze all assets and let a new GM start fresh? Not saying this would be very smart, but it's safer than letting Antony make any deals
  6. What you're suggesting would take Buxton off the field.
  7. Yeah, kinda sad, the twins did a good job of killing off any rivalries they had over these last 6 years
  8. It's funny how he always acts like every sport but basketball, baseball and football is a waste of time because i bet 95% of the world would rather watch a good soccer game than a good baseball game
  9. The Target Field experience and Twins brand (non-baseball) is adequate so if they separate St. Peter from all baseball activities, keeping him around is ok and a non-issue in my book
  10. Isn't that exactly what they are? That's the group that watches on tv and goes to games at least
  11. It's absurd to suggest the Twins don't need a search firm. Pohlad and DSP don't know baseball, having said so themselves. Seriously, how is there any resistance to the idea of this team using a search firm? This might be the most appropriate time in the history of the world for a search firm to be used
  12. It's laughable how St. Peter says whatever he can to keep his name out of the baseball part of the club... Genius actually, but I'm sure he'll be the first to take credit whenever the winning starts up again
  13. Smart franchises know that you can DFA a guy that isn't playing up to his contract. Sunk costs are a real thing and something smart GM's and owners plan for. I'm sure toronto knows they'll be paying Tulowitzki while he's a bench player for some other team. These big contracts do not kill smart franchises
  14. The "need more time" argument for GM's is fine if there's a solid plan being executed and people can see light at the end of the tunnel. Every GM that's been fired in history would probably say they need more time. TR makes weird decisions that make no sense and then after tries to say they are all a part of a plan. There is overwhelming evidence that there is no plan and never really was. Also, there is no light at the end of the tunnel.
  15. If Seattle did this I'd bump their GM to 29th, slightly above TR, in the GM power rankings
  16. I guess I would say I'm more looking to discover if Twins Daily members can be swayed by a good 2nd half
  17. The 2nd half wins pole shows that optimism is growing about the Twins going forward. Does Terry Ryan's image make a comeback if the Twins' go over .500 after the break? Or has too much damage been done over the years for him to redeem himself?
  18. Taking shots at Mauer for concussions is just wrong. I've had 3 in the last 5 years playing junior hockey and then college hockey and they legitimately change your life. I commend him for still playing as well as he does despite the concussion issues
  19. Guys playing hurt is ridiculous. I'm sure it was hard for Park to articulate the hand issue with the language barrier so his situation is more understandable but just recently Plouffe was playing with broken ribs. Trying to be a hero when you aren't that great in the first place does nothing but hurt the team
  20. This is pretty cool! Hope you enjoy Minnesota
  21. Was quite challenging to figure out my own wording
  22. Or you can use multiple mediums to come to conclusions about what is actual reality instead of taking the GM of a bad team's word as gospel
  23. Since Inside Twins on Sunday mornings provides anything. It's Terry saying the same stuff he's said for years
  24. So then... 1. He wants to start 2. He's done nothing to make him deserving of not getting to start 3. He's more valuable to the Twins if he pitches well as a starter 4. There's room in the rotation Yeah... he should probably start
  25. Has May ever hinted as to what he would prefer to do?
