  1. I kinda like his bat instead of aaron hick's bat. It's louder.
  2. The fickle finger of fate came and broke my pretty balloon. Riverbrian got that some stuck in my head a few games back and now we're at this verse
  3. Turned down the radio for 5 minutes to take a work call and missed all the fun. insert expletive here
  4. I don't agree with this. Puckett didn't have the body type to play center field. Mauer didn't have the body type to play catcher, David McCarty had the body type of a perfect baseball player. Athletes are individuals. Some have said Miguel displayed very good footwork and a smooth, soft glove once he'd been playing 3rd for awhile in the minors. Can't say I agree, because I haven't seen him play there much, but I don't think it is a proven NO just because he's a real big dude.
  5. I look forward to having the real Miguel Sano back.
  6. I'd say Hicks had himself in knots, but, fair enough. Thanks for a thoughtful response.
  7. Re: "Gardenhire hates young players" This is so opposite of everything I observed while watching him as manager. One of the most common themes I remember from his tenure was his anxiousness to get young talent up and his seeming frustration that his GM wouldn't graduate the talent fast enough. I recall him being vocally impatient to put Matt Garza, Alexi Casilla, Danny Valencia, Luke Hughes, Ben Revere, Danny Santana and Trevor Plouffe to work at the major league level. That's off the top of my head. His success came on the backs of young talent. I always felt he was a bit impatient and overeager to send guys out there to sink or swim and that Smith and Ryan were the overprotective parent and it created a good counterbalance. Do people get this idea because he was willing to criticize certain young players in the press? i.e. Cuddyer, Plouffe, Dozier To me, he "picked on" guys who he knew could lead. This seemed like a way he raised the bar for players who he thought could rise to the challenge and become better. It worked with those three. All became more complete players on his guard. Never heard him "pick on" the goofier guys much (like Ford, Gomez) as it wasn't likely to have a positive impact.
  8. I liked this article, and MAN do I like this development! I've missed this Joe Mauer and the team has sorely hurt from his inability to be this guy the past couple seasons. I have refused to rip him like so much of the fanbase has because it has felt to me the whole time like his ineffectiveness really was just due to recovering from a brain injury. Sadly, he probably had to struggle his way through it in hopes of a renaissance. It hurt the team in the short-term, but the hope was to get this guy back for the long-term. I sure hope this hot spell is as legit and lasting as they need it to be.
  9. Thank you Danchat, that stat enriched my experience. Just have to laugh
  10. That was an awesome 7 minites! We should try having a lead again someday
  11. i have the strangest feeling. It's like being in lead, except I'm a Twins fan
  12. 2. We're about 4 games overdue for a good look at Arcia. I literally don't care who you bench to make room in the lineup. 3. I can't find it in me to complain about the bullpen when the offense puts up 1.56 runs a game. The pitching staff has a 3.61 era. 7th in AL. It's no coincidence that three of the top four staffs have numbers buoyed by facing the twin's lineup. The pitching is fine. No staff is putting up the 1.55 era the Twins would need to make up for the offense. 6. It all turns around today. I don't necessarily believe this, but I want to. So there.
  13. Every one of my feelings is already represented by others' previous comments. Nice work. If they lose Arcia in any part due to this... Can't really finish that threat. Just a powerless fan like eveyone else.
  14. I am struck by the hyperoverreaction on these comment threads lately. Many are already jumping to the end-of-season conclusions (firings, restructure organizational philosophy, etc.) As a fan, I am not thinking playoffs until MUCH deeper into the season. Just want to see good ball played. New talent gel with established talent. Anxious to see it happen much quicker than this. I'm happy to see Joe look like himself for the first time in over 2 years. Happy to see a just-okay pitching staff perform as hoped. Not happy about much else, but hitters slump. 9 games doesn't say a lot in a career arch. My only complaint regarding player use is this. Oswaldo Arcia made the team and is here. Once everyone slumps, why does he have just 4 ab? I get that he too is a strikeout prone, streaky hitter. However, he's been productive in the bigs and he's a couple years ahead of RoSanoBuxKepler. Wish he'd have a few starts and pinch hit opportunies instead of one of each.
  15. Mine displayed differently... "Eddie Rosario grounds out predictably, pitcher Zach Duke to first baseman Jose Abreu".
  16. Don't fire Bruno. Put him in the lineup.
  17. C'mon Dozier. Time to excorcize some demons... and before i can click "Post"...
  18. Buxton to the DL with something called "broken self esteem."
  19. Thank you Rosario. We were starting to get uncomfortable. Not sure what to do when a base runner advances that far.
  20. See what happens when someone can heroically groundout, rather than strikeout? A run. My God, a RUN!
  21. It's been kind of fun watching the poor staff at the Twin's official site try to put a positive spin on the news when so much is so sour. That said, I'm confident that we're viewing an unrealistic picture of this offense in particular. No one will reasonably expect that Mauer and Escobar will maintain .393 and .367 batting averages respectively, and no one should reasonably expect the rest of the regulars to maintain their current averages which range from Suzuki's .105 on the low end, all the way up to Plouffe's .185 which is literally 3rd highest among regulars. This will "regress" in a positive direction without any personnel adjustments. On the bright side, the pitching staff has been about as "okay" as we should have expected. If they continue as they are, the team as a whole should function well. It has been funny to me that there has been such a "sky is falling" response to the bullpen's failings, when the offense has so clearly been the actual problem. I think the pitching has been performing at about B- level (3.69 team ERA which is exactly middle of AL rankings) but the offense has been a resounding F. The extreme failure of the offense shouldn't make the bullpen any more or less of a problem in my opinion.
  22. I'm really getting sick of watching Arcia sit on the bench while the teams scores 2, 2, 2, 3. Hope that changes now.
  23. Wishing someone had informed Molitor that Arcia is on the team before allowing Santana to bat.
