  1. As soon as I saw the news, I thought, "I'm holding Madre Dos accountable for how he fares!" I sure hope we're celebrating together throughout a successful debut and a great rookie year, mi amiga
  2. Seven was a very good choice. Mauer should stick with it
  3. We are really conditioned for bleak expectations huh?
  4. I expect they don't want to throw Meyer straight into a 2-baserunner situation. Start a clean inning
  5. Really hooked Milone quick. Can't bode well for his job security.
  6. His offense has been the least "offensive" thing he's done all year!
  7. I just read the entire thread to see what hilarious things people had to say about the awkwardness of watching Kurt Suzuki get ready to hit to "the most beautiful girl in the world." I mean seriously. Prince's catalog has at least 700 songs that are better suited to a baseball game. DJ should've just pretended he misunderstood Zuke and played "rock and roll is alive- it lives in minneapolis" to save the embarrassment. That said, how'd you all stay silent on the matter?
  8. First off, pretty clear from Nick's article that Duffey was performing well until getting hurt. Is your beef that he hasn't proved he can pitch into a game after getting hit with a liner? Second, "I understand the argument regarding Milone doing worse the second and third time facing a lineup... I would not trust Milone in a contender's pen." I think you may have understood his point backwards. He used the statistics to make the point that Milone is not a good candidate to move to a bullpen. Seemed like you thought you were disagreeing when in actuality, you both conclude he's not a bp asset. Regarding Duffey to the bullpen- you may have a great idea there. I could get behind that.
  9. He had a really hot July and then fell right back off and batted .213 in August and .226 in Sept. Career to date, he's be a plus offensive contributor for all of one month. I don't buy it. He looks like a ballplayer. He should have all the tools. I can see why others think he'll put it together, but I don't have any faith in him doing so.
  10. Center. Buxton would have started w/AAA
  11. We could really use his defense and his hit this year. I wish I could have typed the word "hits," but he has one single on the season. I, for one, have seen enough of Hicks. His absence gives Rosario and Buxton longer leeshes and clears a path for Kepler to arrive sooner. More AB's for Arcia too. I don't believe his presence would have affected Sano's usage.
  12. submit the tagline to marketing "2016 Twins-not scoring... with panache!" I'm sure some of us TD commenters can personally relate with that slogan.
  13. “I believe the young man’s going to hit. I do,” Yankees manager Joe Girardi said of Murphy this week at the winter meetings. “I don’t necessarily think he’s a 25- to 30-home run guy, but I think he’s going to hit, and I think he’s going to be productive.” I totally agree with part of Joe Girardi's assessment. I too don't necessarily think he’s a 25- to 30-home run guy.
  14. Lessons learned: -the Twins' confidence may have been misplaced http://www.twincities.com/2015/12/08/twins-confident-john-ryan-murphy-will-add-offense-at-catcher/
  15. lessons learned so far: -It is preferable for a pitcher to strike out 5 opponents than to walk 5 opponents. -Although slow and dangerous behind the wheel, Ricky Nolasco can serve a purpose.
  16. Aaron Hicks .050/.095/.050 John Ryan Murphy .087/.130/.130 We're winning the trade!
  17. Sure am hoping for a different starting pitcher that day.
  18. Good to see the team taking walks when that is what they're given.
  19. Agreed. He hits well enough. He doesn't need to see anymore demonstrations.
  20. Bert had me at "Nolasco does not pitch particularly well"
  21. Ricky must be anxious about his impending plate appearance. It's the only explanation for why his is looking so hittable.
  22. I hate a game thread that starts with news of Prince's death. This is no fun. Uggh.
  23. Oh I get it. Molitor's employing the old rely-on-a-7-run-rally-in-the-9th-inning strategy. Not my favorite approach. Serves me right for walking away from the game for a couple innings to give attention to my wife's concerns.
