  1. That ought to just about wrap up Free Agency for us then, huh?
  2. Why is Buxton going to start in the minors? He'll be there for two weeks, dominate defensively, hit a million triples, and get called right back up. What's the point of that?
  3. The only thing you're getting back for Trevor Plouffe is the opportunity to dump some s-word contracts. and i happen to think that's the way to go.
  4. Why would a carousel of corner infielders/DHs be better than upgrading C or SP? Just give Big Mig the job and instantly he you've got the best 3B in baseball. What could be better than that?
  5. Love the enthusiasm, but Twins aren't in the playoffs yet. Also, pretty sure they're winning despite their catcher problems. I'll eat my shoe the day Suzie "get(s) us into the playoffs."
  6. Catcher is broken. We've got tools to fix it in a trade.
  7. Have we ever played anything but a 1-game playoff with the Yankees? Doesn't seem like it. ...that said, Big Mig doesn't care about the Yankees. I'd like to see him groove one over those little-leage fences.
  8. Oh, you guys and your Arcia talk! I don't know whether to laugh or cry anymore.
  9. You know, Kubel might not have been as tall and handsome as Kepler, but...he was much uglier.
  10. We've got log jams and we've got major black holes. I think if we're really going to plug those holes in a meaningful way, TR's got to be willing to trade anybody (except Sano, he's the lone exception).
  11. Torii's going to want to play for sure, and somebody out there is going to have room for the 20+ homers he's bringing with him from 2015. Would Torii rather not play or play somewhere else? I think that's the question.
  12. Plouffy's season has pretty effectively mirrored the highs and lows of the 2015 Twins' performance as a whole. I like Plouffe most of the time, but if we don't sell (relatively) high on this guy in the offseason, I have a feeling that we're going to feel like real dummies in 2016.
  13. So what's the problem, then? Sano is a titan, Rosario's got serious, versatile game, Buxton's hair is radical, and May has proven himself as a much improved starter with a team-first attitude. When you consider the proportional load that the kids are carrying, yes, this team is full of 22-25 year old players. When you talk about the Twins, that's who you're talking about.
  14. Ah, of course! elite pitching talent. I knew we had forgotten to stock up on something. Why don't we have any of those? Boy, will you ever "change" your "tune" once the "best prospect in baseball" becomes an "adult man" and "develops" into the "player" that the consensus of "baseball people" expect him to "become." Tired of these "brilliant" "assessments" of this "bad" roster full of 22-25 year old ballplayers. Somebody grab this guy a tissue.
  15. Yeah. whoopsiedoodle. Ummmmm...thinking...I think that's probably pretty average, but in terms of the core group, I think we're looking very young. maybe it's just a matter of perspective.
  16. Projecting next year's opening day starters by age: P: Gibson, 28 C: Suzie, 32 1B: Mauer, 33 2B: Dozier, 29 3B: Sano, 23 SS: Polanco, 25 LF: Rosario, 25 CF: Buxton, 22 RF: Hicks, 26 DH: Vargas, 26 and you can probably scratch Suzie in favor of someone a hair younger, but that's an average age of 27 for what look to be our starters next season, so I'd say they look pretty young.
  17. Thanks for the warm fuzzies, MonkeyPaws. Greatly needed around here. So far, this year, I have gotten everything I wanted. The kids are up, playing a key role. I'm watching baseball in august. Last four years, at this time, I generally look at the lineup card and get a weird depressed, dizzy feeling. But we're in the clear for all the reasons mentioned above. Phase 1 is nearly complete, and I have absolutely no reason to be upset with our position given the consensus expectation for this team.
  18. Sano is going to be an awesome 3B defensively. His size is not a factor. Saw him play third last Thursday night. I was just a few rows up on the third base line, so that was pretty much all I was paying attention to. He's got a great glove, and what's almost as impressive as his ability to throw 96 mph strikes to 1B is how quickly he gets the ball out of his glove. Plouffe's improvement has bad admirable if not remarkable considering where he's come from. But, Sano's the superior player (right now), even if Trevor makes a few plays that Big Mig can't handle yet. I assume he'll have some value on the trade market. Gotta do what you gotta do.
  19. Are you being serious? Because our best hitter is 22. The oldest core OF we have is 25. One of those core OFers is the consensus brightest prospect in baseball. We've got a top-20 guy ready to step into the rotation. But you already knew that. So, "cool" is right. What else do you want? I'll hang up and listen.
  20. Generally, I agree with that, and I think that historicallly, Minnesota sports fans are guilty of this kind of thing and that's why we're terrible fans, in general (that's a separate argument all together). But come on, guys! we're just finally crawling out of the basement. The kids we have on the field are playing competitive ball. Unfortunately, that's a HUGE step in the right direction. The plan to let this overwhelming crop of overthrow the old regime is coming to fruition. I'm happy just to let this vision grow a little bit before I start savaging TR for changing course because we've surpassed expectations.
  21. hmmm...WC game or contention for the next 8-10 years? None of you know who was available and for what. The Jepsen thing is a total bummer. But if you really thought Tulo could be had for Gibson, puuhhhlease. Nolasco for Shields is still my favorite of course. Let's all take a breath, count to ten and think of what we've been fortunate to enjoy this year. Then, take a step further and picture how unstoppable our Big Mig-Buck-Rosario-Berrios core is going to be for years to come. Ryan gets my respect for his patience and committment to our system. (bracing myself for negative vibes and...."add comment")
  22. 1. Mauer 2. Dozier 3. Sano 4. Plouffe 5. Rosario 6. Hunter 7. Escobar 8. Suzie 9. Hicks Sano is the best hitter on this team. Dozier needs to be less of a solo artist. Things change, though, when you can put Buxton in there. Nonetheless, I think this team needs a guy to cleanup more than anything.
  23. Dinger is a classic. A classic! and my handle is in fact a very obscure reference. so there.
