  1. It certainly isn’t a good thing, either. I’m not saying we should have thrown everything in for Montas or Castillo, but some relief help is most definitely needed if we want to be competitive into the final stretch
  2. I never really know what to think. While it is certainly ‘convenient’, I don’t think teams really do this. If they did, I would think there would be repercussions and the MLBPA would get involved, but I don’t really know. So, better to take it at face value, I guess
  3. Squirrel

    75 RBI or 75 RBIs?

It’s RBI and MPH. Context tells us when the plural should be applied. Sheep, sheep. It’s never sheeps.
  4. Until they no longer lead the division, as weak as it is. Some think it’s a matter of time, and I can’t deny their reasoning on that, any more than I can deny the weaknesses of the team’s pitching. And it could be stated almost every game. But, despite that, the Twins are still leading the division. Even when they win, threads are filled with comments complaining, finding ways, sometimes creatively, to rip apart anything good, as if it’s a mirage we should all ignore. Some are genuinely constructive criticism, and those comments I appreciate. But most are just complaints to complain. That is a willing and purposeful choice, imo, and deserves some calling out as trolling.
  5. Actually, you can tap the hamburger menu from anywhere on the site. Or, if you click ‘Forums’, you will see all the links to those resources above the forum list
  6. This has been pretty well documented his reasons for taking the job ... close to home, less travel, more money, and it started NOW, he couldn't wait until the end of season because of how college sports/baseball works and what their schedule is ... let's not invent things because of your dislike for the Twins right now
  7. Is this a surprise? Or, will be if/when he signs? I didn't even expect this to be a discussion at this point; never figured he'd even consider signing
  8. Seriously??? I don't understand why people say such things ... why do you think this? CC is one of the best SS in the league and certainly the best SS we've had since ... I don't know when. But I will agree we aren't going to get a windfall return for him if traded, but not because he isn't worth the contract.
  9. Indeed ... but ... while giving up 3 runs, they didn't give up the lead ... this time ... and we still won by 4 ... ahhhh ... perspective
  10. I misused a comma there, so, that added to the confusion
  11. Well, but he doesn't have a full no trade clause now, so that's what I'm going on; I'm not talking about trading him in the offseason but before the deadline ... isn't that what most are on about? And, that actually brings up another issue ... wonder who is on his list with his limited trade clause. That could also be in play if the Twins actually were thinking of trading him before deadline (which I don't think they will, because I think it would be a huge mistake to do so, no matter what our contention status is). If he opts in at the end of the season, I'm ecstatic. If he opts out ... WAAAAAAAA ... but it's what I expect, and am happy we had him for a the year we did
  12. Who was upset by that? Was anyone? Maybe one or two persons, but certainly not people. I think most people were worried about anyone taking time away from Arraez and finding space for Arraez in the lineup.
  13. Honestly, once the inning was over, and I double-checked the score, I said to myself, 'Wait, they only scored 3 runs? Okay, phew.' It felt close, yes, but I don't think it really was that close ... once it was over. However, as I said in my post, with our PB, you just never know.
  14. Yeah ... well ... thankfully he didn't throw a lot of pitches, and with the day off on Monday, he could be used today, too. I'm not sure I would have used him, but, with our BP, I don't necessarily think a 4-run lead is safe, and I think it was important we come out of this game with a win.
  15. Ryan gave up a triple, then a single and a run, then got a couple outs ... and was about to face someone who was 2 for 2 against him ... while I get your angst about how the game has changed, in this case, I think pulling when he was pulled was the right decision. It's not always my choice in other games, but this game, and that's what this thread is about, I don't think the argument for not pulling him holds up as well.
  16. While the BP is frustrating, closing the gap from 8-1 to 8-4 ... I don't consider it close. Okay, maybe for this BP is was, but once we got out of the bad inning, I could breathe a bit better. It wasn't a save situation. However, yes, the BP should be able to do better than that and not give up 3 runs.
  17. We will get nothing of significance for either for different reasons. The best option is to ride the year with Correa who adds much to this team, than trade him for not much.
  18. Did you mean to post this video AND write an article using this video on the same exact topic?
  19. I would hate to lose SWR, but I’d do that deal in a heartbeat.
  20. Hey ... did you know that 3 of our recent draftees have signed? Check out our new Draft Tracker! :)

  21. No, we wouldn't be getting much back if anything, especially if we expect the other team to take on the salary ... and then you want them to toss in 'pretty valuable pieces'? Seriously ... who are our trade partners and what do you expect to get in return? And why do we need to save on salary? Any savings in salary this year do not apply to next year. So, I just don't see it. Remember how we all thought we'd get a ton for Santana? The lesson in that is we should have ridden out Santana's contract and that's what we should do (imo) with Correa. We are better with him than without him. First off, no non-contending team will want him or need him. Non-contenders aren't buyers, they are sellers. And they want controllable prospects in return, not a rental. Next, look at all the contenders ... which of them needs a SS? When you determine that, then apply what I first said ... if they are paying his salary for the remainder of the year, and only have Correa for a couple months, they are not giving us 'pretty valuable pieces' in return. You can dream of it all you want, but it's not happening. Third, if we are contending ourselves, and we trade Correa, who plays SS? We have just made our team that much worse, and probably just took us from contending to, well, not contending. Fourth, Correa is not obligated to tell the Twins his plans until after the season is over. Okay, maybe they can work out an extension and sign him long term. I'd be up for that, but no way is he telling us if he is going to opt in or out. But if the Twins approached him and said ... 'Tell us now what you intend or we're trading you' ... we would likely never sign another superstar player ever again. That is just a terrible way to treat a valuable employee. Fifth, horrible, horrible thing to do to the fans and the clubhouse. Correa has had a big impact on the clubhouse and his teammates. Bad, bad, bad PR move and then some. Lastly, supposedly, Correa said he liked playing in Minnesota. He seems to have an affection for his teammates her in MN. He and Bux make quite a pair. But ... I don't know if those are reasons for him to opt in to stay here and deny himself the opportunity to sign a long-term contract elsewhere. Part of me really hopes he stays, whatever the cost, but, that is a pipe dream.
  22. I was laughing at the topic because this has never been discussed on here before
