  1. That was some of the best, most exciting baseball I’ve watched in a very, very long time. I equated the Mexico v Japan game to game 7 of the 1991 WS. I was an initial ‘poo-pooer’ of this, worried about the affect on players at the start of the season, but have since changed my mind 180 degrees. I hope it’s bigger in 2026, and maybe do the semis and finals instead of all-star week.
  2. Geeeez, Brian … you’d better be doing some kind of a counter jinx with that statement. I hope you are prepared to offer yourself up as a sacrifice to Jontu and Cnathol.
  3. I look at it as covering themselves just in case because of what we went through last year. I'll admit to having been 'WTH?' with both the Gallo and Solano signings, but I think they were good coverage, trying to add yet more depth. And with Solano, they could release him mid-season when/if we get consistent contributions from Julien, Lewis or Lee at some point.
  4. Gordon has already played in 2 games, at 2nd, since the sprain, so, I'd say he's pretty good to go. He could have a setback, but, he was cleared for all activity almost a week ago. Same with Miranda. As for Kirilloff, yeah, don't know where they've been having him play most, but I think he's been in some AAA games on the backfields at first, but haven't heard anything about the outfield. If he's on the opening day roster, it will be interesting to see where he plays; but, if Polo really starts the season on the IL and Kirilloff doesn't and goes north with the team, that means Larnach is on the team, so, I'd say then that Kirilloff will be seen primarily at first? Good questions ... guess we will know more on Mar. 30.
  5. I’d say a casual fan isn’t someone who participates on a baseball website and doesn’t really pay attention to who’s injured and who’s not, maybe knows a few of the players’ names and likes to go to a few games a year. And yeah, will get hyped because ‘their team’ is in a playoff run or in the playoffs but doesn’t really pay attention overly much to the getting there. They might check the standings but really don’t understand what they mean other than which team is currently on top.
  6. Better that than the Jim Jones way some posters want to make it for the rest of us. Kool-Aid for the optimists, Jim Jones for the cynics and pessimists, Bacardi for the rest of us! 🙂
  7. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. It’s the only approach i live by when it comes to baseball. And I disagree about optimism this time of year. This is the time of year I think we should hope and be optimistic because it’s the only time of year anything is possible before any games are played after which possibilities either wane or remain. (I said possibilities, not probabilities.) We have 162 games of the regular season to let the air out of tires, and I’d still rather start with them full, and not slashed because full tires gets you somewhere and slashed tires get you nowhere. Some of the doom and gloom pessimistic posters want to just slash tires, (not pointing any fingers at you here), it just gets old and makes it impossible to actually have a decent baseball discussion. So, Polanco isn’t looking good and will start the year on the DL, most likely. It’s the way it goes in sports. Good thing we have Farmer, Solano and Gordon to fill in, with Julien getting more time in AAA and getting ready for a call up when we need him, with hopefully Lee and Lewis later in the season. We were all ‘woe is me’ about Buxton and Kirilloff and it looks good that Buxton is/will be ready and maybe even Kirilloff as latest reports are better than they were a week ago. I will continue to be hopeful for now because it’s not the season yet and my Kool-Aid still tastes good. Let’s maybe put off some of the doom until Mar. 30 to see what we actually have. Yes, be concerned, I am, but I’ll remain with hoping for the best.
  8. Next year I'm going to try and take off the month of March ... we'll see how that works
  9. When I was there, I saw Polanco taking some fielding practice on the TK field
  10. I’m not sure why this suggestion keeps popping up. He is never going to make the team out of ST. There is zero chance. We have better options already on the roster. If he gets a call up it means something has gone terribly wrong not just with Kirilloff but also with about 4-5 players who are way better options.
  11. Which is why he's doing what he's doing. Because it works best for him in getting ready.
  12. He was never going to make the team, better to move him down now. I know you are big on playing youth, but I think it would be pushing it to have him make the 26-man. Better to keep him playing and ready for a call up sometime. John, why were people booing Hicks? And I agree about Pagan, but I’m not a fan of Megill, either. Any chance he’s left off the 26-man?
  13. Watching, too … just posted a thread in the ‘Other’ forum
  14. I’d say zero chance. Miranda has now been cleared for all activities and is starting to throw. Gordon has been cleared for all activities. Polanco is on track. If Kirilloff isn’t ready for opening day, and that looks very iffy, Larnach or Wallner will. We have Solano, Miranda, Gallo and Farmer who can play first. Then the question of who comes off the 40-man to make room? Yeah, zero chance.
  15. https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/baseball/news/twins-alex-kirilloff-making-progress-with-wrist/ Maybe this started after you left? Then again, this report didn’t give much detail so …
  16. Indeed. I'd heard he has the best arm? Maybe I heard wrong, but he can throw
  17. I think this was his response to those who complain about 30-60 second video clips. Bring on the sound, John!
  18. Things in Fort Myers are just plain expensive this year. You may have to go further out. Because of the hurricane and the destruction of Fort Myers Beach and Sanibel and places near there, many residents are still displaced who are now renting many places that would go to monthly visitors in ‘normal’ times. And there is such a high demand still for construction workers and related subcontractor work, it’s been a slow process getting homes and condos back to habitable. My Mom’s place went through a remediation process that was just completed a few weeks ago and now begins reconstruction. In turn, there then has seen a higher need for hotel rooms since the usual condo rental market is tight. It’s the basic concept of ‘supply and demand’ at play here this year. You may have to go further away to find a rental or hotel within the range you mentioned.
  19. I’m not exactly sure what you mean anymore. You say the forums, yet I’ve very clearly stated that the Front Page News forum is not really a forum that operates in the same way the other forums do. If what you want to suggest is more organization of what articles are written, when so there are not so many of the same articles, then yes, that is specifically an owner question. However, you are in the minority when it comes to big, breaking news or stories such as all the articles and forum posts we had about Correa. The data showed that most readers could not get enough on Correa and it was big news how that all went down making it a pretty wild off season, so all the articles written and published on that was very intentional. As for the regular forums, like the Twins Talk forum, yes, we do take great strides to streamline the threads that get started there, with the exception I noted about the rumors function, which was new and now something we need to tweak. So, I’ve explained, this is how it is. If an owner wants to step in and discuss the process of how it’s decided on what gets written and when, then they will. But the rest just feels a bit … overly picky
