  1. Hmmm ... better defense AND home runs? Seems like a good combo to me. I can see not getting glazy-eyed if it were one or the other. Just sayin' ... but I'm one of those that wants the greatest trade or no trade.
  2. Sure they care. Twins fans want to win
  3. I don't think anyone has said this but I think there are some who think we should get the greatest package or not trade, and some who would be okay with a less than greatest package because now is the time
  4. When will Mientkiewicz get a promotion to the big leagues?
  5. Hmmm ... not sure yet what to think ...
  6. MODERATOR WARNING: Many posts have been removed because of bickering and trolling and general disrespect. If you can't get into a discussion without poking and prodding and all out getting into it with one another, go elsewhere. I know it's the season to be generous and kind, but those qualities are used up and gone for me in this thread. And if you see two getting into it, don't be piling on ... you become just as guilty. I don't want to have to close and lock another thread, especially one that is continuing to have interesting, if not repetitive dialog during a slow period, but I will. Good Lord people ... IT'S A GAME ... enjoy the banter, enjoy the disagreements, enjoy the speculation, enjoy the discussion ... and quit getting offended and quit taking pot shots ... seriously.
  7. That's part of the gamble. Knowing that his price could go down doesn't mean you trade him for less, though. At least I wouldn't. I'm not sure what the correct answer is, but I'll bet it's whatever ends up not happening.
  8. This is a great event, lots of fun! Not sure yet I'll be able to attend, but it is well worth it!
  9. I don't think it will be a failure at all. If they don't trade him it means they didn't get what they think he is worth. We keep hearing that it's DeLeon and Alvarez, but that is only rumor at this point. Could it be true? Sure. Could it not be true? Sure. No way we'll ever know for certain. But I'm hearing a lot of doubt in this thread as to which team has the leverage. If the Twins don't have the leverage we aren't going to get back what we need or want, certainly not both DeLeon and Alvarez in that case, and if we went through with a trade with that in mind and without those pieces, then it would be a failure and I'd be disappointed.
  10. Yeah ... I googled. I'd probably suck at it, though ... or at least at first. Going from tennis to racquetball from racquetball to tennis is pretty humorous. Lots of swings and misses, due to differing lengths of racquet, until you make the adjustment. And pickleball would be no exception, for me anyway.
  11. Okay, just googled, not the same. I've never done either, but my club has paddle tennis courts and leagues and teams. I've never tried it, although I'm curious about it. Paddle tennis is only played during the winter here, and that's part of it ... I do not want to be outside playing sports when it's zero degrees out. Not my thing.
  12. Is pickleball the same as paddle tennis? Edit: Paddle tennis = platform tennis.
  13. I don't think having a dry policy helps. I went to school on a dry campus, it didn't help, nor would I consider the campus 'dry' as everyone found ways. All it did was to conceal and make 'secret' student activities while the RAs looked the other way because 'kids will be kids.' And this when the legal drinking age in MN was 19.
  14. Well, I disagree. Sexual assault is sometimes very difficult to prove and how cases are prosecuted and defended make it even worse. As I edited above, I don't think it unreasonable for a school to expect it's students to represent them better. Yeah, that also is a slippery slope and can go too far, but doing nothing because it might go too far is also unacceptable.
  15. I went to school on a dry campus, it didn't stop anything. And yes, both men and women need to take responsibility for their actions, but this also needs to be treated very carefully. It does get close to victim blaming/shaming as well as 'okaying' the actions of the aggressor when we start suggesting, 'well, he/she shouldn't have been drinking.' 'He/she shouldn't have been wearing that.' 'He/she shouldn't have agreed to be in her/his room alone because of course things will happen.' 'He/she have been 'promiscuous' before so ... ' I went to a school who did this kind of thing. And as recently as last year, their idea of dealing with the problem, after suggesting all of the above, and letting the victims know it was their fault because of their lack of responsibility in the situation, was to put both parties into a room telling them to resolve their differences. Teaching responsibility is one thing, but there also needs to be consequences, and I don't think the consequences should be for victims to have to face their attackers day after day, while being blamed for what happened to them. And that's what schools have done and still do. This whole issue is being discussed now because the U decided to suspend some of its players for their behavior and part in this. It's not a criminal judgement they are imposing. It's a 'you need to take responsibility for your actions or there will be consequences for actions' judgement they are imposing. And I say, 'Finally!' Maybe it's not ultimately the right way about it, but I think it's a start. And yeah, maybe it's not fair to all of sudden start now, but when will it be fair? Schools and their administrators and boards/regents have for too long brushed this under the rug for the sake of protecting its school's reputation and/or their 'stars,' and that needs to stop. Maybe if they stop brushing it under the rug and stop treating these situations as if it's okay, actual criminality will be reduced later in life by some of these students who have for years grown up to believe it's okay and take it steps further. Yes, even in this case the university should allow due process, but I don't think it needs to be just about adherence to our legal system. Levi, I understand that you don't think the U should take these steps because it doesn't adhere to the letter of the law. But I respectfully and very strongly disagree. Because rape and sexual assault happen and are often times difficult to prove. I don't think it's unreasonable for any school to start addressing the gray areas of these situations. And I also think it's okay for a school, who is giving a free-ride scholarship to someone, to expect them to represent their school in a more fitting way.
  16. Omg, this is nothing more than a veiled 'boys will be boys' defense. Shame on you.
  17. Moderator warning: We know it's slow right now but the old thread was closed because of the bickering and constant straying from topic. Discuss Dozier and the possibilities or move on. This is not a constant update thread nor a thread to poke at or reference the validity of anyone's sources. Talk about Dozier and the possibilities or move along. And if you want to joke and talk about off-topic whatever, consider posting in the off-season game thread just for the heck of it.
  18. Here it is. This thread is now over and closed. Bickering on all sides is just not going to be okay.
  19. This is amazing! Thanks for sharing all your pics and first-hand info on what's happening down there!
  20. But whose justice are you more concerned with here?
  21. Early morning travel is typical of business travelers, especially on Mondays. Monday mornings on typical Mondays are usually pretty busy. If I'm flying on a Monday morning, not only do I allow extra time for security, I allow extra time to just get there. Yeah, I guess if you are flying out of an airport that is 'easy,' the pre-check thing wouldn't be as useful ... but the three airports I fly out of most ... O'Hare, Midway and RSW (Southwest Florida International Airport in Ft. Myers) ... security lines can be monstrously long, and in Ft. Myers, slow. The worst line I encountered was at Midway ... it took 90 minutes to get through ...
  22. And that's what the hold up is, maybe ... the Twins want Bellinger and the Dodgers don't want to trade him. Could be the Twins are insistent on Bellinger in the trade in order to force the Dodgers to include better 3rd and 4th pieces ... we will see. And we will likely never know for sure no matter what happens.
  23. Please stick to topic. This is about Rogue One.
  24. Oh, and I'll also be having a palm tree Christmas in Florida. After all these years, I still find it a little weird seeing palm trees decorated with Christmas lights.
