  1. Um ... it's now 10-0 in the 4th ...
  2. Anyone listening? Once the orchestra is through rehearsal I'll be tuning in. Don't have access to lineups ... game day doesn't seem to be functioning ... hmm ... anyone else having difficulties? Okay ... go!
  3. Yup. Still so many questions that need answering. And some 'research' before answering.
  4. It's not a matter of 'anointing' anything to Vargas, but once Park was removed from the 40-man, many thought then that meant it was Vargas' job to lose, not that he had the job guaranteed. And many also think they haven't given Vargas consistent playing time to really see how well he does or doesn't. As for my opinion on Vargas, I'm very in the middle ... neither 'anointing' nor discounting, but wanting to get a good look. Same with Park.
  5. I don't hear anyone discounting his performance. Good OR bad it's February. Players are still finding their rhythm ... especially pitchers ... we are four days into playing games and there is still a ways to go. Good OR bad it's waaaaaaaaaaaay too early to be prognosticating one way or the other. I hope Park puts together a good spring and gives the team a lot to think about, but it's too early for it to mean anything at this point.
  6. I haven't had most of those things. And of those few things I have tried, I haven't had for years. And years ago, I think I preferred Burger King's Big Fish to McD's Filet-o-Fish. And I just got instant acid reflux heartburn typing that.
  7. Exactly.
  8. Okay ... according to Wikipedia ... take it for what it is ... places like Five Guys are considered 'fast casual' as opposed to just 'fast' ... and the difference was what I thought above ... they promise a higher quality product, but is still serviced in the same manner as 'fast' And these are the chains they put into that category: The category is exemplified by chains such as Boston Market, Bruegger's, Captain D's, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Culvers, Dig Inn, El Pollo Loco, Five Guys, Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, Newk's Eatery, Noodles & Co., Panera Bread,[1] Pizza Ranch, and Vapiano. Culver's had some items on Van's list. Did Chipotle make it on there somewhere?
  9. I'm not sure exactly what you mean 'made to order' ... it's not like at a restaurant where you order the kind of meat, how well to cook it, etc. ... it's no different than going to say Epic Burger, if you've been there ... I have both those in my neighborhood and I absolutely think of them as fast food ... maybe a step above McDonald's or Wendy's in quality of ingredients ... but still, not really that much different in terms of speed and service
  10. I don't know MyBurger or Smash Burger ... they are made to order as to what you want on them, but you can do that at McDonald's, too ... you just have to wait longer for it.
  11. Exactly.
  12. I disagree with your take on his defense. I think he's considerably better than Vargas and would be, defense-wise, a decent platoon with Mauer. As I said above, we'll just have to wait and see about his bat.
  13. How is it not? I'd say absolutely is. I actually like Epic Burger burgers better.
  14. I agree they need to give him opportunities to show what he can do and to see if last year truly was a learning curve/injury problem. It would be nice if we really have a sleeper on the rise. However ... it is still waaaaaaaaaaay too early to know any of that. Pitchers in ST are still getting up to speed; and at this stage, the team is also seeing prospects and minor leaguers, so ... once we get into the latter part of March, then we can know a little better. But I do agree that he plays first better than Vargas, imo.
  15. Yeah ... he will and should get seriously looked at to see if last year was a combo learning curve/injury problem ... and I hope he's great and we have someone good ... I think he plays 1st considerably better than Vargas ... but ... it is still too soon to judge.
  16. So far Thielbar is the only Marlins pitcher who didn't give up a run. I don't know the Marlins pitching staff at all to know who all the pitchers are
  17. Whooooaaa ... it's already 8-1? Hmmm ...
  18. It's waaaaaaay too soon to judge Park, imo. See my post above ... he did this last year, too. Pitchers are not up to season form yet ... not to mention not seeing the best of the best.
  19. But he also did pretty well last ST, too ... when pitchers are up to speed, and we aren't seeing prospects and minor league pitching, then we'll be in a better position to judge. I want to see what he does the last half of March.
  20. Btw ... lineups: NATS: Taylor, CF -Stevenson for Taylor in the 5th Rendon, 3B -Green for Rendon in the 5th Heisey, LF -Snyder for Heisey in the 5th Robinson, 1B -Soto for Robinson in the 5th Drew, SS -Difo Skole, DH -Ward Lobaton, C -Kieboom Goodwin, RF -Bautista Joseph, 2B -Burriss Cole, P (pitched 1.2, gave up 4) Lee (pitched .1) Worley (pitched 2, gave up 1) TWINS: Buxton, CF -Granite Polanco, SS -Adrianza Dozier, 2B -Santana Sano, 3B -Reginatto Kepler, RF -Grossman Vargas, 1B -Hague Rosario, LF -Palka Gimenez, C -Rohlfing Castro, DH (Yes, DH; and his 2-run homer in the 2nd did the job.) May, P (pitched 1.2) Jorge (picthed .1) Berrios (pitched 2) Breslow ... pitching now We're in the top of the 5th, Twins up 5-1.
  21. By the way, to everyone ... if you don't see a game thread up, start one! This is ST for you, too, and it's encouraged to just jump in! It won't be long before we post the schedule so all you Threaders can sign up and make your mark!
  22. Ah, that doesn't bother me at a game. You aren't sitting in a darkened room where flashes of light are popping up here and there. Also, at a movie there is an expectation of silence and attention vs a game where people are coming and going, chatting with their buddies, yelling and cheering, vendors hawking their food and beverage up and down the aisles. It's a different atmosphere, different conditions, different protocols.
  23. It's the same no matter where they are sitting. If I'm sitting near them, and that phone comes out, the light is distracting. I have once or twice politely asked they please put their phones away as the light is distracting, but all that does is make the phone user try to be more 'stealth' about it, but it still doesn't work and I'm still annoyed.
