  1. I'm sticking around to the very end ... long game ... and now it's done, finally. And now I can get ready to leave for the airport and Florida and ST games in person ... woohoo!
  2. Heh, not really. Love going to the Famer's Market restaurant for fried chicken. It's a very casual place, but I love their friend chicken, cole slaw and dinner rolls ... very much yum! This time of year there is a lot of wait time for places, so we'll see. Shrimp Shack is good for shrimp. Maybe Melissa's over on Sanibel. There's a place called Stillwater's ... and yes, its owners are former Minnesotans and the name of the restaurant pays homage to that. I think it was the last time I had walleye, actually, all the way down in Florida.
  3. Okay ... back to getting things picked up so I'm ready to go when it's time to go ... can't wait to see the SUN!!! While this winter hasn't been particularly cold, it's been so freakin' gray I can't stand it!
  4. Well ... don't like seeing that ... Red Sox just scored by stealing home.
  5. What happened to the Red Sox starter? (Tuning in late.) Announcers said something about him leaving with the trainers.
  6. This is the last ST game I will be watching from afar. Well, sort of. I won't be at all the remaining games, just the ones in Fort Myers. But I'll still be in Florida so the away games will still be watched not from afar but from nearer. The Twins game yesterday ... um ... no comment. But when I got home from work last night, I turned on the action of the WBC. As some of you know, I'm not the biggest fan of the WBC, but hey, it's still baseball. As long as it's there, I'll watch it here and there. And what a game to catch. All kinds of excitement. Everyone is abuzz about Stanton's homerun, but for me it was Adam Jones' catch in deep, right center, robbing his Orioles teammate, Manny Machado, of a homerun that could have been a difference maker. In the end, I think that catch was the difference maker, and the turn of the game. The U.S. went on to win the game 6-3 over the Domican Republic 'dream team', eliminating them from the tournament. Anyway ... and now it's today. Twins travel the far 6 miles over to JetBlue Park. Haley is getting the start ... okay ... Lineups: TWINS: Stubbs, CF Santana, 2B Mauer, DH Grossman, LF Gimenez, C Escobar, SS Field, RF Paulsen, 1B Gonzales, 3B Haley, P REDSOX: Holt, SS Benintendi, LF Ramirez, DH Moreland, 1B Rutledge, 2B Hernandez, 3B Selsky, RF Castillo, CF Vazquez, C Pomeranz, P Play ball!
  7. And the 'dream team' goes down.
  8. Dinger ... are you watching this game?
  9. Fans almost got in the way of that catch.
  10. That would be cool if they could. I imagine there would/could be a player or two who might have to choose which team to play on.
  11. I miss Neshek on our team. Always liked him. And he really 'brought it' just now.
  12. Chuck Berry ... I can't imagine what Rock n Roll would have been like without him ... rip.
  13. Uh, Vogelsong didn't lose this game for us. Not that I think giving up 2 over 5 when competing for a starting spot is good, and I'm not defending him, but we were still ahead when he left the game, 4-2. Then Reed came in and gave up 4, Hildenberger gave up 1, and Trepesch (who is that?) gave up 5. So, if we are talking about 'not so stellar' performances in today's game, I wouldn't necessarily put Vogelsong at the top of that list. By far.
  14. Yeah, light reading for me is the stuff I don't have to think about one iota while reading and will also provide me with some humor.
  15. Got this off the Twins' website: • Twins right fielder Max Kepler exited Saturday's game against the Red Sox with an abrasion on his left pinkie when he slid into third base in the first inning. X-rays came back negative, and he's day-to-day.
  16. Geez, some of you and your ideas of light reading differs greatly from mine. If I want light reading I turn to someone like Sophie Kinsella. I'm usually laughing out loud at various points in her books. Probably not the reading anyone in this group would get into as I consider her books the epitome in chic lit.
  17. Uh oh ... Kepler is out of the game replaced by Grossman. Hope it's precautionary.
  18. Was this a typo or is this new terminology describing Mauer's hit?
  19. I think that's worth something ... just how much, we'll see in time.
  20. I just want to make it clear to everyone ... that everyone and anyone is welcome and encouraged to start a game thread. You don't have to be a comedic genius, or creative writer, or be clever, or have a schtick. Just bring it to us straight if that's what you got! Give us your serious and/or light-hearted baseball take on things, if that's how you want to play it. As long as you have the pertinent info of where, when and who, we're good. Your cohorts can bring the comic relief in thread (and, they will!) along with 'being at the game' with you. All we need are volunteers to jump in and get it going, however you want. Just make sure to PM Chief and me together in one PM the dates you want to be thread master. And if you have any 'technical questions' on how to start a thread, or how to insert links and/or photos/gifs and/or videos, no worries! ... just ask in the same PM you send to reserve your dates. We're here and happy to get you going!
  21. I think I'm the only one who changes it because, well, I'm all serious and stuff. But everyone else likes it and leaves it. Completely at the thread starter's perogative.
  22. Heh ... if you want to get around that, put a space between the R and one of the parentheses. It's the same when people use B ), but without the space after the B to get But if you like the symbols and emojis, then don't worry about it.
  23. They're magically delicious!!
