  1. It’s not that we can’t discuss it, but it’s gone back and forth with no resolution on this issue, so I’m trying to move the focus back to something we can move forward on with better focus and clarity rather than something that divides us and is going nowhere.
  2. Or his supervisors are covering their own tails for some reason. I have no doubts about this because for me, it’s beside the point. As Smurf said it’s a fair discussion, but for me straying a bit from what I feel to be the most important part of this situation. Yeah, we’ll never know for sure, and yes, I suppose some accountability will be investigated, but that is secondary to me, far secondary, that this troubled young man (the shooter) was able to easily and legally obtain the weapon he did with the intentions he had.
  3. Let’s try to focus here. This is about the wrong person being able to easily acquire a gun that no one should have access to ... at least that’s what I think. That’s is the primary focus here, yes? No? One deputy arriving on scene and not engaging is not the issue. That is something we can’t know what, how, why. He may or may not have saved lives, he may or may not have made it worse. The bottom line for me is that his presence shouldn’t be needed at all! Can we focus on one thing at a time? An AR15 in the hands of a lunatic or in anyone’s hands, that’s the crux here.
  4. It was likely my internet that was the problem.
  5. Yup, that’s exactly what he should do. It’s possible. I know because I’ve given myself warning points on a few occasions.
  6. It doesn’t sound like it, but I hope this doesn’t become the reason we lost Chargois.
  7. A friend of mine’s ex used to teach in the Phoenix area; this is a number of years ago now. He said that if things weren’t nailed down or thoroughly locked up they would go missing. Can you imagine a gun, or several of them, going missing? I just don’t know how anyone thinks this is a good idea. Further, yes, let’s fence the perimeter of a school and the grounds, have gunned patrols manning those fences, and all the teachers armed ... do we really want our kids going to a literal prison to school? Again, seriously, I really don’t know how anyone can think this is a good idea.
  8. And Minnesotan Jessie Diggins will carry the US flag in the closing ceremonies. She won that honor with her race. Nothing came close to that.
  9. I’m listening to it now. I may get an audio only subscription so I can listen at work, but then I’ll go with the Extra Innings cable package. When I streamed the game through my tv with the MLB package the feed was so behind it made it frustrating. I hate not getting the post-game stuff, though, but so be it. I’ll move back to the area eventually and then it won’t be an issue. I also liked having it at work. But I really am rarely able to watch at work and ended up only listening anyway, so ...
  10. I just cancelled my renewal.
  11. I’d rather it be more balanced, tbh. During those awful years, though, most didn’t want to talk much about the games, too depressing. They are what posters make them to be.
  12. Yes, this is my thinking as well as being a better sign than Cobb. But at the beginning of the off-season it was speculated he would be looking for a 4-yr deal and that was an absolute no for me. A 1-yr makes sense to both parties, IMO. Heck, I might consider up to 3, if the 3rd weren’t guaranteed.
  13. I post ‘meh’ to things all the time over there
  14. Taking my Mom to see ‘Early Man’ for hopefully some Wallace and Grommet like humor.
  15. As amazing as it was ... and I admit to only watching highlight videos because, well, hockey isn’t really my thing ... I still give the nod to the cross-country women’s sprint team as being THE most amazing of probably any Olympics I’ve seen. Neither men nor women’s USA team has ever won a gold in any cross country ski event, I mean ever. And the last medal to be won by the US was 42 years ago. And, wow, I didn’t care what country they came from because, wow, the stamina, the strength, the sheer will to pull from deep deep down for that final push at the end, and then the purity of the overwhelming joy, I’m wowed to near tears the 50-100 times I’ve watched it. But to each his/her own. And yeah, I am chastised ALL the time by people when I say I’m not really that into hockey. I get the astonished response, ‘You’re from Minnesota?!?!?!?!’
  16. As much as Levi is being cautioned about arguing against things no one said, I’ll caution you as well. The majority of people here are in in-between land. You seem to have an all or nothing take, which is fine, it’s your opinion. But if others want to take a more tempered road that is acceptable as well and there is no need to say they are being unconditionally fanatical about it. Agree to disagree short of the implied name calling, please. That last sentence is for everyone.
  17. Or what they’ve tried isn’t working because of things in the article Craig posted earlier and they are chalking it up to him not trying, or whatever, instead of their own lack of fully understanding the issues, specifically the manager. As I’ve said I don’t give Sano a full pass but I can’t and won’t at this time lay it all at his feet, either, as many are so wont to do.
  18. Lol. Now I have the Chipmunks singing in my head!
  19. This is a very interesting study. It makes me wonder if those with a genetic predisposition of being leaner have difficulties understanding those whose genetic predisposition is, well, larger. They can’t understand the difficulties in maintaining and losing weight because it’s never been difficult for them and then chalk it up to the person with difficulties not trying hard enough which leads to all sorts of messages of ‘We’re just not getting through to him,’ or ‘He’s not taking his profession seriously enough.’ I’m not saying that I give Sano a pass to go out and load up, but I wonder if our lines of what’s reasonable in his case are just off. When I saw him at drills, he just didn’t look as bad as some are making him out to be. Yes, I think he needs to catch up with some of his conditioning and maybe trim down some, but I don’t think he’s egregiously out of shape and/or overweight. Maybe where you’d expect him to be after recovering from surgery. Wasn’t the initial timeline on that going to run into ST anyway? But I don’t know what he has and hasn’t been doing to at least help his case. So I don’t give him a complete pass. But it worries me the comments Molitor is making. Not from the standpoint of Molitor really trying the help Sano, but worried he’s ready to write him off because he can’t relate.
  20. Then, than The one that stymies me the most is further, farther.
  21. These are the moments that make the Olympics great. It doesn’t matter to me if it was the USA team or another, just that this was a great Olympic moment:
  22. And that video was a very accurate view of how he looked doing infield drills yesterday, as I said earlier.
  23. We’re getting ready for the 2018 season ... so get some prospects in mind. Well let you know when to get started.
  24. We’re getting organized for a new season ... and that’s all the announcement I have for now, but get ready!
  25. Have to say seeing him in person he didn’t seem as overweight as what I was expecting after reading some of the comments here. Yes, I think he could be leaner and yes, I think there needs to be some conditioning. I’ll give half a pass to that because his injury didn’t allow for him to work on things as much as we would have hoped during the off season. But I am concerned about the other I won’t give half a pass to, him. He’s 24 and I’ll give that a little bit more time, but I do think he needs to make some choices sooner rather than later on who he wants to be as a player as others have alluded to. And after seeing him today, man, he’s just one big dude with huge thighs, but not hugely overweight.
