  1. Moderator warning: This article is about competing into the future and NOT about how/why the Twins should have retained Rosario this year. Do not turn this another article about Rosario.
  2. This will be the first ST in 21 years I will not attend ... c'est la vie.
  3. No. Not this year. This from the Twins' website: 'Non-Game Day Policies – In accordance with Major League Baseball regulations, the CenturyLink Sports Complex will NOT be open for the public to view non-game day workouts in 2021. The only exception will be the Hammond Stadium Box Office and lower level Merchandise Store, which will be open from 10:00AM to 4:00PM Monday-Friday, and 10:00AM to 2:00PM Saturday-Sunday, beginning Wednesday February 25th, 2021 through Tuesday March 30th, 2021.' I'm sure that applies to game days, too. No access to the other areas and limited capacity to the stadium for games.
  4. Another good tune!
  5. I can't wait to hear more! This is really great!
  6. Back on topic, please ... and keep it civil.
  7. This is what I wanted them to do last year ... get a higher quality SS and move Polanco to 2nd, and trade Arraez when his value was high. While they will still find regular at bats for him, as you said, it is still a demotion, and who knows how that sits ... hard to say. I just don't see either Arraez or Polanco as good backups at 3rd, unless they move Sano over from time to time ... or still have a trade or signing to make.
  8. MODERATOR WARNING: This is a baseball forum, and not a forum to discuss Schilling's politics. It's enough to say 'I don't want him in the hall because of it' or 'Eh, that shouldn't matter, no matter what. He should be in the hall for his baseball record.' That's pertinent. But don't take the next step as we are not here to get into the specifics of a political debate.
  9. As just a regular poster, I'll say this: I actually wouldn't compare Schilling to anyone in history. He's a former ball player, not a historical figure, good or bad. And nor would I compare the Hall of Fame and its process for admittance, to any event in history, either. As to the merits or not of getting into the hall? Eh, there are some in the Hall I think are questionable to even being there, and several who should and aren't. I don't have a solution for changing that, but at this point, I don't really care who is in or who isn't. And, further, isn't there something in there about character? I don't know, but there are more question marks for me about Schilling than his personal political stances. Based on baseball merits alone, he should probably be in. But if there is other criteria being considered? Eh, don't know ... and that is very subjective, so unless there are more guidelines to that ... As I said, perhaps it is time to review how someone is/isn't elected to the Hall. As a moderator, I'll say this to everyone ... stick to topic and tread lightly. It's possible to make general remarks about Schilling, whether you agree or disagree, without finding yourself too far into the weeds of a political discussion, whether in defense or admonishment. And please ... rebut the post and don't weigh in on the character or tone of other posters. Use the report feature if you feel remarks have become too personal.
  10. It’s called negotiating in bad faith. I’ve been on the wrong end of that before and it is not commendable.
  11. Well, as long as they blow away the competition, I'll be all right with it
  12. So ... what do people in Wichita think of the name?
  13. I always qualify that home run on his first MLB at bat ... it wasn't just his first at bat, but the first pitch of his first at bat. Also ... I like the 'forced balk' play, too, as a career highlight. I don't know if it's truly a career highlight, but it was an awesome, gamer move and he scored the tie-breaking, winning run of the game off that.
  14. It's the 'surge' part of the name that is weird to me ... maybe just leave it at 'wind' ... but then that opens up the door for other jokes. I suppose tornados or cyclones is overused in that part of the country
  15. I was looking forward to trying to get to a game at Pensacola, but I guess that's how it goes. The Wichita Wind Surge? That's kind of ...
  16. I <3 Rosie ... and that’s all I have to say on that
  17. Make sure to join us in today’s game thread! When so many venues are closed, we can still enjoy the game together online! http://twinsdaily.com/topic/42345-astros-vs-twins-game-1-928-1pm-central/
  18. Lol ... I, on the other hand, had no problems reading this whatsoever!
  19. Never thought Nelson Cruz and I would have the same routine ... 'Nap time can vary, but it's daily'. Although, his nap time is intentional and timed. My nap time is daily when I nod off, unintentionally, because I'm getting to that age.
  20. And if the Twins weren’t playing the Cubs, there’d have been more oversight. The Cubs were on ESPN Sunday Night baseball and we just happened to be the Cubs’ opponent.
  21. We've had numerous discussions of this over the years. As always, since you are speaking to a larger point, and no longer about Romo vs Lindor, perhaps start a separate discussion regarding 'respect' vs 'personality' issues in the 'Other Baseball' forum. Thanks.
  22. Yeah, I think he was speaking more generally answering the post he quoted.
  23. I think the league answered that question with a 1-game suspension + a fine for Romo; and Lindor also received a fine, because it takes two to tango, and shows he was complicit. That said, I still see this as a blip and an example of how things can sometimes trend in the heat of the moment with emotions and adrenaline. However, I think over all, I love Romo's spirit and antics, and the energy and intensity he brings. That has been lacking on the Twins. How many times have I seen comments such as 'The Twins just seem lethargic and lacking in desire to win' (or something like that)? Can't have it both ways. Yes, that 'fire' can sometimes get carried away, and there are means to deal with that ... everyone jumping into the fray as they did ... that's what I call idiotic and over the line. If distancing rules are to be enforced, then everyone needs to stay in the dugout and let on-field personnel handle it. if two players get 'into it' ... the respective teams don't need to escalate matters or give any credence to matters, and all come running onto the field ... that's where things get out of hand and cross the line, imo. But I don't want to see any player's joy and personality be stifled away because some of us seem to want a polite, pinkyies up, tea party ... or because opposing players might feel bad. It's a game ... you win some, you lose some ... all players need to allow for personality and not take it so personally and get over themselves. Shake it off. All imo, of course.
  24. I feel badly for Rooker ... as you said, he was making the most of this opportunity. Hope he heals well and quickly and we see more of him next season.
