  1. Okay, I’m LOL’ing this comment. Seriously? You think how Lewis did had any effect on Correa? Dude, come on. Correa was heating way up when he was hit by a pitch. Correa is twice (and probably a lot more) the SS than Lewis will ever be … that’s just how good Correa is. And Correa has been encouraging to and cheering on Lewis this whole time. If anyone on the team could/would be affected on how well Lewis did, it would be Urshela, Miranda or Gordon, and maybe Kirilloff, too. Correa needs no incentive as there is absolutely no worry about him being supplanted by Lewis as long as he remains a Twin, whether that’s 1 year (or, wishful thinking) 3 years and beyond. The others I mentioned, that could happen this year one way or another
  2. Morale. That said, Correa is a far better SS than Lewis. I’m glad to have him back regardless of Lewis being up or down.
  3. I didn't know that Larnach was going to be sent on a rehab assignment. I had suggested that he wouldn't be activated to the 26-man roster in another thread and was soundly told that all signs pointed to the opposite. So, my opinions were stated when I thought it was 'certain' that Larnach would also be activated soon, like, by or before Friday. So ... I didn't think it was that big of a deal because I felt it would be both Lewis and Miranda for Correa and Larnach. But, now that Larnach is going to rehab, well ... I still don't think it's that big of a deal. Honestly. Might not be exactly what I'd do, but I still think Lewis will be back up very soon and will play all over the field and be here for the rest of the season. I get that you and most think he can learn those positions while up with the Twins, and I'm not disagreeing with that, but I think there is rationale to send him down to play everyday, too.
  4. I think Miranda will go down when they activate Larnach. And in two weeks (well, less than now), they have to bring their pitchers down to 13 and then add a position player. My hunch is, they've given Lewis a plan ... play all over the field and he will be back up to play out the rest of the season. I think they've already discounted Kirilloff in their plans this year and now it's Lewis.
  5. Lol ... posters here don't disappoint. It surprises me that it wasn't Miranda being sent down first, but that's really the only surprise. But when they activate Larnach, it will be. When both Correa and Larnach were activated, it was always going to be for Miranda and Lewis. Who else was going to be sent down? Tell me who else was going to be sent down who could be sent down? Does Gio have options left? Arraez? Gordon? In two weeks when they have to go down to 13 pitchers and they have to bring up a position player ... who do you think it's going to be? My guess is Lewis will be back up in 2 weeks, playing everywhere. While I don't disagree with some here saying he could get those reps up here, I think there is equal argument for him getting those reps in AAA. Remember, he didn't play for two years. In spite of that, he has been outstanding ... in one position, after two years. I don't really think a lot of rust needs to be shaken off playing elsewhere given his play so far this year, but I do understand the rationale.
  6. I’d love to think that maybe part of this decision is because they are confident in working out a long-term deal with Correa. Yeah, I dream big.
  7. You maybe didn’t realize that when you wrote this, Correa was already activated and Lewis optioned to AAA
  8. Yeah ... this is something I've noticed this year, too. From the pitchers forming a 'team within a team' to Buxton being so animated to, well, everyone ... there just seems to be a whole different feel. If Rocco has cultivated that, that's a really great attribute. But, then again, there is no 'I' in team. These things tend to happen because of 1) good leadership, 2) good communication, and 3) the 'right' mix. The clubhouse I don't think can be totally attributed to Rocco, but he is certain a big part of 1 and 2.
  9. It's a pity, then, that things aren't approached more open-mindedly instead of instantly disliking the unknown (And that goes for a lot of things, not just opera.)
  10. But this isn’t just a Rocco thing. This is the modern-day baseball thing. If not Rocco, it would be someone else doing the exact same thing. You and everyone who doesn’t like how the sport is going these days seems to have put this dislike in the man. While I agree that hate is a strong word, and as I said, not one I’d use here, I a,so think this massive dislike toward Rocco is also misguided and a tad irrational.
  11. The thing that always kind of annoys me is what was mentioned in nick’s article … the attitude that Rocco is to blame for the losses, but no credit is given for the wins. While hate is a strong word and not one I’d use here, it would seem to me that the blame/no credit process is about disliking the manager no matter what. If the manager is the only one responsible for the losses, they are responsible for the wins, too. But I don’t really think either is true. I’ve often said that I don’t think the manager affects the outcome all that much. Players who can execute and getting players who can execute … that’s on the players themselves and the FO for assembling the team. The manager today relies on a committee of people to come up with a game plan. This committee does a very good job, from what I can see, at making sure that the players are prepared with that plan. The players then need to execute that plan.
  12. You know, you just used the wrong analogy with me around. But I won’t derail the thread talking about opera. ?
  13. Such as? im not trying to be confrontational, but to you and everyone who doesn’t like Rocco, who would you like to see instead?
  14. We’ve actually had quite the discussion in the forums the last couple of days.
  15. I'm older than you and have been a Twins fan since the mid-60s. My recipe for winning is to score more than the other team, however you manage it. Some days you'll score a lot of runs and win; some days you won't score many but the pitching was great, so you still win. Winning is what matters to me. I don't care if they win scoring 1 run or 10. Just win. Again, I'm older than you.

  17. Yep ... I said this somewhere else ... AK goes down as soon as someone is ready.
  18. Pagan … I don’t think he’s the closer. I don’t think we have one. It’s a traditional mindset that I think most teams are moving away from. But usage … yes, it makes me very nervous seeing Pagan warming in the 9th when the game is close. But it seems that’s all we’ve had is close games. Duran is young and somewhat new to relieving. (He’s a starter … has he been used in a relief role much in his development?) They aren’t going to use him every day. while I don’t know the reasons, I’m sure the Twins have lots of reasons why certain pitchers are being used in certain situations. Could some of this be a result of not having Alcala? Definitely, imo. As much as these close wins could have easily been lost, they weren’t.
  19. I don’t know if this changes your argument or not, but Duran came into the game when the score was tied 3-3, then gave up two solo shots. Bringing him into the game in high leverage situations is the place to use Duran, imo, whether or not it’s the 9th. Maybe a tie game isn’t high leverage enough to have used him then, but I think an argument could be made that it was. I’m 50-50 on that one. But I don’t like using Pagan as he was last night, that we, and most of us, agree on. I just don’t think your example of when Duran was used the other night enhances this argument.
  20. Oh come on, Mike. I’ve read a lot of your posts over the years, and you are way better than this. While I question the use of Pagan in these situations, they don’t put any of their players in any of their roles game to game, just to prove how good they are.
