  2. This chart doesn't make sense. At the top is says player payroll and cash flow. At the bottom is stats EoY salary and profit. Cash flow and profit are two different things. Again, as many people have pointed out paper losses don't equal actual losses. In addition, if you throw out 2020, which is from covid and a complete outlier, the team has made $2 million since 2019. What's their total profit since the taxpayer funded Target Field opened?
  3. How do you know it's not greed? They've never been very transparent as owners, and it was hinted that Joe Pohlad was supposed to be much more active in running the team. Where has he been since the end of last season? I can't say I've seen any comments from him regarding the offseason or how the season has gone.
  4. I just don't believe the Twins are actually losing money, so it's tough to change my mind. As a few people have pointed out paper loses are one thing but that's not the true cash flow of a company. Additionally, what falls under the Twins company? Do the owners have additional revenue from the stadium or other ventures related to the Twins that's not included under the Twins company? Lastly, the Twins were purchased for $44 million and are now considered to be worth $1.46 Billion. Have the owners used the Twins asset value as collateral for other business ventures that have made them money that aren't included under the Twins company?
  5. The MLB has stated certain teams negatively affected by their TV deals can receive anywhere from $0 to $15 million if they spend it on team upgrades and I believe the Twins are one of those teams. It seems like the Pohlad's don't even have to spend their own money to fund additions this trade deadline. So, if the front office doesn't make a trade I will be very confused.
  6. St. Louis also lost in the World Series in 2004, won the World Series in 2006 and 2011, and the lost again in 2013. Before last season the Twins hadn't been past the 1st round since 2004 I think?
  7. I think you've said it perfectly. I'm not expecting, and I don't think most Twins fans are expecting ownership to push every season to win a championship, but the Twins have a very good team this season. They have a chance to do something, and won't they make a lot more money if the Twins go deeper in the playoffs? The Twins desperately need a quality left-handed reliever and could use another starter. They don't know what they're going to get from Paddock the rest of the season, Varland hasn't been good this year. Are they planning to rely on Festa and maybe Matthews to fill out the 5th starter spot for the remaining two months?
  8. I'm blanking this morning but when was the last time the Twins weren't shopping at the bargain bin at the deadline?
  9. Why does Rocco continue to try Margot as a pinch hitter? He's 0-25..... At some point you have to realize using him as a pinch hitter isn't working.
  10. I'd be fine with Raya or Gonzalez. The Twins rotation with Lopez, Ryan, Ober, and SWR has four spots locked up for the next few seasons. They can add Festa, Matthews, and Morris to that group who are all at AA or AAA. The outfield includes Buxton, Wallner, Larnach, Martin, Castro, Rodriguez, Keaschall and Walker. Parting ways with either Raya or Gonzalez seems feasible.
  11. What do people who've seen him pitch think of his potential? Do you see him as a potential top of the order guy similar to Lopez (When he's pitching well), better than Lopez, or more likely somewhere in between Joe Ryan and Bailey Ober?
  12. Keaschall's stat line tonight was 3/4 with another homerun and two singles. His stat line is now .318 / .418 / .468 / .886 in 40 games at AA. He doesn't appear to be slowing down at all. There's no reason he shouldn't advance to AAA this season if he keeps this up through July.
  13. He only played 52 games at A+. He's played 39 AA games, so another two weeks and he'll have played more AA games than A+ games. His stats below exclude his first 10 games from AA, which is all it took for him to adjust.
  14. It's not about it being a rush to trade him. It's he's a surplus at this point that the Twins can afford to trade to try and bring back a quality pitcher to upgrade their starting rotation. When healthy, the Twins have four infielders (Lewis, Correa, Lee and Miranda) who are all better than Julien. They have five outfielders (Castro, Larnach, Buxton, Kepler and Wallner) who are all better than Julien. Plus, they have additional prospects that are knocking on the door to being ready.
  15. His trade value isn't as great now as this past offseason, but you wouldn't really be selling "very" low on him though, especially with how he's hitting the past month at AAA. Also, the Twins will have to give up something good to get a good pitcher. The Twins have Lee, Wallner, Kepler, Larnach and Castro as guys that can hit left handed with Severino and Kiriloff down at AAA.
  16. I wonder if he gets traded. There just doesn't seem to be room for him going forward on the Twins roster. Lewis, Correa, Lee, Santana and Miranda all play the infield. Castro, Buxton, Wallner, Kepler and Larnach all play the outfield. Plus, Severino has had a strong year and he's either a 1B or DH and Keaschall keeps improving every day and could be promoted to AAA at any point. Julien is running out of spots and could be a good trade piece to bring back a quality pitcher.
  17. I can't watch the game, why didn't Castro score on a flyout to the center fielder?
  18. If they can get something for Wallner that helps this season or next, then the front office should absolutely consider trading him. There are other players at AA and AAA who can come up. Lee will likely be promoted after the futures game, which will push Castro back to the outfield. Buxton, Castro, and Larnach. Plus Martin and Keirsey. Add in E. Rodriguez, who will likely start next season at AAA.
  19. Strikeout percentage is calculated off of plate appearances not at bats. He has 233 plate appearances on the season.
  20. Just think how good that draft had been if the Twins had drafted Corbin Carroll, who was drafted 3 picks after Cavaco.
