  1. Is anyone else not able to see Page 2 of the comments?
  2. I'm not sure if everyone has a subscription to The Athletic but these are good articles about Joe.
  3. 16 games is a pretty small sample size. He's also going to be 33 this December, so I'd be shocked if he got 3 years. Edit: Also, who's to say he's going to want to sign a 3 year deal when he could sign a 1 year deal, crush, and then sign a 3 year deal for more money a year later.
  4. After last offseason I don't see Escobar getting to $45M but I could see $35M over 3 years. If I was the Twins FO, my first calls would be to Donaldson to see if he would want a 1 year prove he's healthy deal and to Jose Iglesias to see if he'd be willing to take a 2 to 3 year deal. Donaldson could play 3rd, 1st and DH and Iglesias could play all three infield positions if needed. Machado is a pipe dream but it would be awesome to put him at 3rd and sign Iglesias for SS. Move Sano over to 1st and DH.
  5. What a way to end the season and they couldn't have scripted it any better. His final at bat with a double to left field and coming out to catch in the ninth! It was definitely a little dusty where I was watching. If this was it, what a career and one of my all time favorites!
  6. Thanks for the write up Seth. I really appreciate these types of articles on the new players because there isn't a lot of info out there on later draft picks.
  7. This could literally be said about every single "great" player because that's how baseball works. If you're the only good hitter on the team then pitchers on other teams are going to pitch around you by throwing you junk or just straight up walking you.
  8. It's always going to come down to pitching. The Twins could use another pitcher to pair with Berrios at the top of the order and a legit closer to go with Rogers, Hildenberger and May.
  9. I'm glad to see he is progressing even if it's against Detroilet. I don't care if he's a regular starter, a "primary" starter or a future piece of the bullpen. All that matters to me is that he's able to get hitters out and having some success.
  10. Thanks for the write up! Where does everything think the top five will start next season? - Colina will most likely start in Fort Myers since he only had 1 start there. - Thorpe will most likely start at Rochester after finishing there this season. - Gonsalves is a tough one. Will there be room in the Twins rotation right out of spring training? Will they send him to Rochester since he has struggled and they want him to get off to a good start next season? - Graterol - My guess is he makes ~ 5 starts in Fort Myers next season and if he's doing well moves up to AA and potentially AAA if he continues to dominate. - Wells will probably start in AA and hopefully move up to AAA before midseason.
  11. If people on here have access to The Athletic they did a great breakdown on the adjustments Rogers has made this season. https://theathletic.com/513049/2018/09/09/taylor-rogers-slider-twins-reliever-new-pitch/
  12. Man it seems like this team has just stopped playing.
  13. https://www.news-press.com/story/sports/2018/09/06/minnesota-twins-prospect-alex-kirilloff-leads-surging-fort-myers-miracle/1210227002/ Here is another good story an Kirilloff. https://www.mlb.com/news/2018-pipelines-prospect-team-of-the-year/c-293675566?tid=151437456 Kirilloff made the 2018 Prospects Team of the Year.
  14. I agree that if Mauer and Kepler aren't performing the FO and Molitor would be less likely to bench them for rookies but I don't know if they would for Odorizzi especially if Gonsalves or Thorpe are dominating AAA.
  15. Acuna Jr. played 57 games at AA and 54 games at AAA last year. He then played another 23 games at AAA this year, so he got plenty of experience at the top two levels before moving up to the Braves. Albies played 82 games in 2016 at AA and then 56 games at AAA. In 2017 he played 97 games in AAA. So, the Braves top two young talents both played a minimum of 77 games in AAA. Kirilloff could be on a similar path next season. He could play 60 games at AA and then moves up and plays another 60 games at AAA but that would basically be the entire minor league season. At that point he could then be called up in September, which would be an exceptionally quick track for him since he missed an entire season. Gordon would have likely been on the Twins had he performed at all in AAA this season. Based on how the new FO is operating prospects are moving up much quicker than they did under TR.
  16. So you’d bring all four of them up next year just to see if they sink or swim? Worked great for Hick and Buxton.
  17. There is zero reason to move Gordon up to the MLB until he proves he can actually hit AAA pitching. He has done nothing to deserve a promotion. Lewis will most likely start next season in High A so there is no way he's going to move all the way up to the MLB in 2019. He'll probably spend a month in High A and if he's doing well then move up to AA but I highly doubt he makes it to the MLB. Kiriloff definitely has a chance since he'll start next season in AA but most likely won't get a call up until September. Rooker is really the only one who has a realistic shot since he should start next season at AAA but he definitely needs to cut down on the strikeouts or his bat will never make it.
  18. I think he'll be back for 2019 for sure and depending on how the team does, how he does and how the minor league prospects do he might be back for 2020 as well. If he hits close to .280 with an OBP above .360 and an OPS above .750 I could see him back if the Twins team is progressing. How prospects like Kirilloff and and Rooker do next season and how close they're to the MLB will determine if the Twins want to bring him back in 2020.
  19. Sounds like the Twins won’t be calling Bucton up.
  20. I agree with this. Bring him up in September and let him hit against MLB pitchers. I feel the Twins are going to be in a much better position next year if Buxton does struggle out of the gate. They can easily send him back down to AAA or wherever and go with an outfield of Rosario, Cave and Kepler. The Twins also have some prospects at both AA and AAA they could bring up in a pinch to get them some at bats. AAA: Wade and Granite AA: Rooker, Wiel and Davis
  21. There was only one person on base and two outs. I could totally understand taking him out if Molitor was going to bring in a left to get the final out but he didn't. He brought in May who gave up a pretty hard hit out to center field. Zero reason to take Stewart out in that situation if you're going to bring in another righty.
  22. I don’t like how Molitor pulled Stewart with two outs. This is a lost season and Stewart was pitching better than he had in any other start. Let him try and get out of the inning.
