  1. I guess I wasn't thinking percentage as much as total. It's just a testament to how well this team has played overall. The starters consistently giving 5 or more quality innings, the offense consistently getting a lead early, and the bullpen consistently holding the lead. We could have four starters reach 15 wins. Most seasons we're happy if 1 guy gets that many.
  2. Our starting pitchers have 30 of the 36 wins for the pitching staff. That's gotta lead the league by a wide margin I would think.
  3. I think Rocco is still experimenting with line-ups, trying to find something that works. You know because 10 runs a game just aren't enough.
  4. I have questions about Bumgardner. In a trade or in free agency we would be paying the price for the Bumgardner that was the world series MVP, which is to say it will cost a lot. He currently carries a mid 4 ERA in the national league and doesn't seem to be getting past the 6th inning. Has he just been pitching in bad luck or has age started to take its toll?
  5. I'm not sure why so many people are eager to move on from Adrianza, he checks off all the boxes for the role of utility infielder. 1-Be able to sit around for several days without showing rust when finally getting playing time..Check 2- Be above average defensively at the middle infield positions..check 3-Give competitive at bats when given playing time..check Add to that the fact that he doesn't seem overwhelmed against very good pitchers. You don't need your utility guy to OPS over 800, you just need him to do exactly what Adrianza has done all year. That being said, I really like Arreaz and I've enjoyed watching him play. Its fun to watch the organization give the opportunity to an actual prospect as opposed to a minor league journeyman.
  6. They have 4 games at Tampa Bay at the end of the month that should test them. They may not have Sale or Verlander, but their pitching has been pretty good all year.
  7. Wow, this team is amazing. I haven't felt this way about a sports teams since the 98 Vikings. I hope this doesn't end like that, with me in the fetal position, crying like a small child. Either way I'm all in. By the way does this lineup have a nickname? Something like the "Minneapolis Mashers" or the "The tater factory"? I don't know it feels like there should be something.
  8. I know Joe Mauer gets blamed for everything from global warming to the Kennedy assassination, but a sub .800 OPS for a first basemen just doesn't cut it. You have a DH that doesn't hit homeruns and a second basemen that wets himself every time someone is on base. That leaves it up to Sano to produce more runs. Teams know this and pitch him accordingly forcing someone else to beat them. Other than Rosario no one has really stepped up. They need to go out and get a big bat in the off season to hit behind Sano.
  9. I think it's going to be a quiet trade deadline for the Twins, They aren't quite close enough to sell off prospects to take a run at the playoffs and yet they are too close to have a firesale and give up important players without a big return. I would guess that they trade a fringe prospect such as a Derick Rodriquez for a mediocre relief arm on a one year contract from a non-contending team. I'll be surprised if they do anything bigger than that.
  10. In building a roster every team has to make difficult choices between talented players and let good players go sometimes in favor of another. Sometimes players leave and have success somewhere else, it happens all the time in baseball. In the case of Arcia the Twins were choosing between Arcia and Rosario and Kepler in the outfield. Rosario and Kepler had better all around potential and so they kept those two over Arcia. It could prove to be a mistake, but had they let Rosario or Kepler go they also have the potential to be all-stars with other teams. As far as DH goes, it I remember correctly, Arcia did not like the DH role which may have been a factor in not keeping him as a DH. As for Hicks, at the time they traded him, I don't think they saw him as a good enough hitter to be a corner outfielder and since they felt Buxton was ready, they let Hicks go and kept Buxton. I think ultimately Buxton will be the better player, but time will tell. In baseball you have to make tough choices and live with the consequences. You can't just move your rookie third baseman to right field so that you can keep your popular veteran third baseman around for a little longer you've got to choose.
  11. He stopped listening to the advice he was getting from all the different big league coaches and started doing what feels comfortable in the box.
  12. The twins management seems a bit shell shocked right now, every decision they've made this year has gone up in flames, almost every prospect promoted has fallen flat on their face. This feels like a safe move, a promotion of a player that won't embarrass himself and even if he does no one is going to pay any attention to him. The owner needs to realize that he needs to hire a GM outside the organization and moves like this should help.
  13. I looked at the boxscore for s-wb and one guy pitched 4 innings and recorded 12 strikeouts. That's right he struck out the side 4 straight innings. Sheesh. Were the batters wearing blindfolds and trying to use the force to hit the ball?
  14. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't bring him up in September after the AA season ends. He's already on the 40 man roster, he's played well enough to earn a cup of coffee. Even if you don't start him you could us him as a pinch runner or defensive replacement because he's a great athlete. If nothing else the experience would be good for him and there's no downside to having him on the team during a playoff chase.
  15. Maybe the best solution is one that will never happen, in the offseason move Joe Mauer back to catcher. I'm just sayin', we have one of the best catchers in baseball history and we have turned him into a mediocre first basement. Move Joe back home to catcher, give Sano a first baseman's glove, keep Plouffe at third and go win a world series. I know that health concerns moved Joe from behind the plate, but he's been healthy the last couple years and maybe we should consider a solution that solves a lot of issues.
  16. I think the issue here centers around Santana. The Twins like him and want to give him a chance to succeed, but they need a back up plan in case they need to send him down. Thus they are keeping Escober to take over shortstop and Nunez to take the utility role. Otherwise, why would you keep two utility infielders on a team where Plouffe, Mauer, and Dozier play everyday. They also need the fourth outfielder and back up catcher. They need 13 pitchers because they are carrying a rule 5 pitcher that Molly doesn't trust and will rarely use which puts a lot of innings on the rest of the bullpen. I'm OK with it because we need to see if Santana's for real and it seems to be working out. If Schafer coming off the DL and they keep both him and Robinson then I will be annoyed.
