    I've watched the replay about a dozen times. The 3B ump, the HP ump, Rosario and Glynn all point to Drake and Smalley says BALK at the exact same time. Everybody including Drake knew it. What a great play by Rosario!

    Didn't get to see the Rosario-induced balk live, but it's exactly the type of thing Molitor would have done as a player. And if the pitcher hadn't balked Rosario could have stolen home because of the idiotic defensive alignment. Any smart manager knows you have to keep a runner on third base honest. Either way a run.

    There are (legitimate, IMHO) complaints about the rivalry series being played as back-to-back weekday 2-gamers. Here's my suggestion: If it has to be 2 2-game series, which it probably does, then do all of them right before and right after the All-Star break. It would be unusual to have a series end on a Friday and have another series start on a Sunday but that can be worked out.

    I mentioned this the other day but I'll mention it again. The Brewers are the only team against which Ervin Santana, tonight's starter, has never recorded a win.

    Scorers properly give the fielder the benefit of doubt with a ball in the sun.

    Target Field is a great stadium except for one thing. The line from home plate to center field is almost exactly due east. That makes it a bad sun field for the players.

    Or, if he's traded, they can add a player to the 40-man, either from within or the player traded for. I wouldn't think that he'd be traded for another infielder though. Of course this is all just random stream-of-consciousness rambling on my part.

    Hmmm. Either way, if he's traded or DL'd the only other infielder on the 40-man is Vielma.

    Andrus tried to deke Escobar there. Fortunately Esco is not Lonnie Smith.

    This game is like a lot of recent Twins games, except in reverse.

    That's why he'd batting cleanup! (Too bad there was nobody on base to clean up.) And this game is 3/4 of the way to the home run cycle. Who's going to hit the granny to finish the job?

    Interesting. I live 12 miles from Target Field and we have not had a single drop of rain today.

    This is exactly how I feel. I want the Twins to be an organization that has quality from top to bottom. That's the only way to field a major league team that has a chance to contend *every* year. And it all starts with scouting. That's how the best players are drafted, the best free agents are signed, and the best trades are made.

    You'd see the problem if you were the Cleveland organization.

    My opinion is that ABWII would not have come close to doing what Vargas has done offensively and he would not be better defensively than any Twins outfielder since Josh Willingham. I don't think he would have improved any of the Twins teams of the last 3 years.
