  1. Kevin Corriea. The veteran presence just oozes from him. Oozes.
  2. Is there any chance this Corriea's last start after he gives up 8 runs in 3 innings today?
  3. Just a brutal AB for Mauer there. Thankfully Hammer picks him up
  4. Either call up Hermann or fire Gardy. At this point those are the options. The mishandling of Pinto is unforgivable at this point.
  5. This one time, in Chicago, Mark Redmond was catching and Joe Mauer was DH'ing. Redmond took a bat to the back of the head in the 1st inning. The starting pitcher had to bat! It was complete carnage! What if he'd pulled a hammy? Sure, the Twins won the game. But younger Gardy was forever scarred. He still wakes up in cold sweats several times a week. Have you no sympathy?
  6. Kubel needs to be DFA'd. 2013 was not a mirage. He's done. At least he gave us something for a month. Pinto needs to play 4-5 times a week. Catch 2-3, DH 2. Gardy can take double malox and get over it. The top of the line-up needs to be shaken up. Dozier is slumping. Mauer is slumping. Move Escobar/Santana to lead-off. Drop Dozier down in the order. Change something. I'm not as eager on the pitching. We're close enough to the service time deadline that it would be pretty foolish to call either one up now and only get 2-3 more starts for a year of control. Also, hopefully Corriea will right himself enough to have some trade value in July. If it goes like it looks like it's going, bid Gardy farewell after the All Star Game and give either Molitor or Steinbach a trial run. Terry Ryan retires gracefully at the end of the year. And after the roster sausage we've seen this Spring, I don't want Antony replacing him.
  7. PH Pinto for the guy hitting .167 in the last 10 games? Nah
  8. The last 9 games we've scored 2, 5, 2, 2, 1, 1, 2, 4 and 0. I wouldn't worry about 'breaking' Dozier. He has the highest OPS, you don't want your best hitter hitting lead-off. Meanwhile Escobar has a higher OBP.
  9. I get annoyed with the 'Mauer is overpaid' cries, because his being overpaid doesn't matter. But it's hard not to be concerned at this point.
  10. But a kidney stone eventually passes. Gardy's love of certain scrappy veterans is forever.
  11. Couldn't be easier to get them in Sioux Falls. They have a station here and WNAX is a blow torch. Driving through the heart of MN? It was hit and miss once WNAX went out. Whatever extra $$ they got from leaving WCCO, the paltry sum couldn't have been worth the collateral damage of not being able to reach your fans. FWIW, I have MLB at bat and listen on it at home. But I refuse to burn data on it while driving through the middle of MN.
  12. You've hit on something. If Pinto changes his name to Punto, Gardy will start him every day. He won't be able to help himself. Why has no one suggested this sooner?
  13. Never. Gardy's fascination with Suzuki, even as he fades from over-use is beyond aggravating.
  14. The offense is totally stagnating despite ridding itself of Florimon and Hicks appearing competent with greater frequency. Why is moving Escobar to the lead off spot not being considered? He's red hot and has speed, and would allow Dozier to hit 3rd. It's not a major change, but couldn't hurt. Escobar, SS Mauer, C Dozier, 2B Plouffe, 3B Arcia, RF Willingham, LF Parmalee/Kubel DH Pinto/Suzuki C Hicks, CF
  15. Arcia and Willingham should be up Monday. Hermann and Colabello down. Going forward split approximately: Suzuki 4 games a week at C, Pinto 2 each at C and DH. Willingham 3 games at DH and 2 in LF. Arcia 4 games a week in RF, 1 at DH. Parmalee 2 games each in RF and LF. Kubel 1 each in LF and at DH. Nunez a game a week in LF. Bottom-line, Kubel should play far less with Arcia/Willingham back. Suzuki needs to cede some playing time to Pinto now that he's cooling off as well. As for the pitchers, I see zero reason to bring Pelfrey back to the rotation. Deduno has certainly earned his spot. And when the trigger is pulled on Corriea, it should be for Meyer. If he's figured anything out, stick Pelf in the bullpen. If he hasn't, stick him on the 60-day DL or eat the $8 million and release him. As for CF, if Fuld is out awhile as it appears, they need to do something. If it's not Sizemore, than someone else. Would they even consider giving Santana a real look there?
  16. +1. It's brutal. Especially now that you pointed it out. :s-instagib:
  17. Is Nunez in on a double-switch?
  18. Kurt Klutch makes up for his earlier failures.
  19. Jared Burton. Veteran Relief Pitcher.
  20. I like Suzuki. Extending him for a year or two at the same salary wouldn't be terrible. But if you can get a decent prospect, you trade him. Plus, we ultimately want Pinto to be the every day catcher. If Gardy is the manager and Suzuki is on the team, that will never quite happen. You almost have to give him no choice.
  21. Tonkin vs Gurrier to big deal, but when are they going to call Arcia up? He would provide as much off the bench as a PHer as Arcia or Suzuki and will actually start now and then. At the least, I hope Arcia is up for Hermann as soon as the they leave SF.
  22. I suspect he'll be the pitcher that goes down.
  23. Tomorrow, Guerrier in the 8th up one. Let's go!
  24. Plouffe is way overdue for a HR.
