  1. Remember when there was all that 'Phil Hughes should be an All-Star' talk? Those were the days...
  2. Escobar's been great so far, but ultimately, he's a super-utility IF'er. Essentially Nick Punto who can hit. A guy who starts every year on the bench and hopefully stays in that role, but can start anywhere in the IF'er if injuries or struggles happen.
  3. With the way we wet ourselves against the Yankees a sweep is more likely. Then a 7 game road trip. Could easily be 12 under by the ASG. And we have what to look forward to for young players in the 2nd half? May at the most? Ugh. They may have to fire Gardy just to keep it from being a complete death march.
  4. Regression is beating the hell out of Hughes.
  5. I see Ploufe's role post-Sano as a platoon DH and occasional OF'er. He's never hit well enough to be an automatic every day player, but he's a good bench player who should play 3-4 days a week against lefties and an occasional righty. That said, leave him at 3B until Sano is ready. Escobar there is not a great idea, IMO. SS/CF is trickier. Ultimately. Santana should be the Opening Day SS in 2015. But how much harm are you really doing playing him in CF in the meantime? He seemed to pick SS back up fine when Fuld arrived. Therefore, Escobar at SS and Santana in CF is clearly our best option for now. I would roll with this at least until Sept. or until a real CF'er is acquired at for Willingham/Suzuki. Suzuki should be moved at the deadline and Pinto up to catch the rest of the season.
  6. You could see that hit coming 5 pitches in advance. I was rooting for a walk there. Ugh. Nolasco is a true mental midget this year.
  7. Depending on how much they sell off, 75 is still realistic. The schedule is easier in the 2nd half. And hopefully Corriea/Pelphrey/Deduno/Pino starts will be replaced with May/Johnson/Meyer starts, etc.
  8. Remember all that 'Dozier should be an All-star' talk? Those were fun times, right?
  9. What's the official Twins Daily assessment of Santana's injury? Amputation likely?
  10. Why does Fuld cut off Willingham there? Fuld's arm is beyond awful....
  11. I wasn't kidding. I honestly think Molitor has a better chance of getting a hit than Florimon, as long as he can make it to 1st.
  12. Every time Dick praises him, Terry Ryan adds a year to the contract extension....
  13. I have no idea who that is. I'm just sick of those Wisconsin tourism ads.
  14. Do you make Mauer bunt here? Yes, I'm serious, don't call me Shirley.
  15. As with most of the 'trade him now' guys what are you going to get? In most cases, a AAAA pitcher who's not better than the 5 we already have in Rochester or a similar hitter. If you are getting someone who's no better than what you can go sign as a ML free-agent in December is it worth doing? No, IMO. If someone's willing to over-pay and we're out of it, then sure, trade him.
  16. I won't shed tears over Deduno, but he still has more upside than Swarzak, IMO. Neither is likely to be a Twin past the end of 2014 so I'm not sure it matters that much, but I'd rather start Deduno in a pinch and I don't really care who fulfills mop-up duty.
  17. Wow. Washington really likes their double-headers and Suzuki is a true iron man.
  18. Perk is certainly not himself.
  19. Yeah, he's a victim of bad luck. He's also terrible today.
  20. Of course we get bad Corriea today. Maybe it can be the last time?
  21. At what point are we allowed to panic about Nolasco?
  22. I've wondered this too. Then I think, the Twins may be incompetent with injuries, but this isn't Major League....right?
  23. I suspect they'll simply DL Nunez for now and kick the can down the road. Optioning Thielbar is ridiculous. If they won't cut bait with Burton, Swarzak should be it.
