    Post game musings: Pretty cool that July 4 game where the Cubbies hit 8 homers- #7 Dansby Swanson hit the 7th HR, caught in the stands by-- a guy in a Dansby Swanson jersey! And tonight- Justin Turner (who looks like a guy with his behind buried in a couch with a built-in beverage holder) hit a HR ball caught by-- his absolute look-a-like, who probably DOES own a couch with a built-in beverage holder. Also- Joey "The Pennant" Wentz... ex-Twin soon, perhaps? Inshallah.

    All those extra innings here and there are gonna weigh those bullpen guys down in August-September. You know, the time of year when you need them the most, when one or two tight games might make the difference between a wild card slot or the first tee. (Except for Coulombe, of course, who did two weeks worth of his pitch count in one day today, so he's probably out til next Thursday.)

    I'm still perplexed by Jonah Bride instead of Payton Eeles. I know he and Austin were both on the shelf for a while early on, but come on. Why go outside for flotsam when we could be getting development from within?

    Heard Reusse on a podcast the other day. He said the Twinks' new motto is, "whatever it takes to lose." They always seem to find a way to p*ss away a winnable game. On the bright side, look who's back! 😂 Postscript: White Sox Watch- Surprisingly, gave one up to the ROCKIES! So we maintain our lead!

I'm grateful that on this side of the globe, those day games start at 2 or 3 AM, so I'm spared the carnage and the pathos until I check the box scores in the morning. 😅 And judging by attendance figures, you're not the only one taking a break from this team. I heard on one of the podcasts that attendance is the worst since the last-place 2000 team, the Butch Huskey- Midre Cummings era. Woof.
