  1. Haw haw!!!! I had to leave when it was still 2-Love Twinkies, to take my HS'ers to a drama competition. In between shows, I peeked at the Viking-esque box score!! At least my day started on a high note! And now I can finish it up in the late evening hours over here by reviewing some Prime, Grade-A, slow-smoked, and tender-roasted snark on a sesame seed bun! Good work, one and all--- Nothing like T-Daily posts to take the edge off a shellacking like that one! ....Oh-- I'm having a chicken dinner right now by the way, not even ironically in the least.
  2. I agree completely. Tonk is high on the list of "younger" guys that have been jerked around/used inappropriately/spun back and forth on the Rochester Shuffle. There's no way this guy should be asked for more than 1 inning. And I don't buy the "straight" angle; it seems he's got plenty of movement, he just doesn't move it into places it won't get ROCKED! I've been in the guy's corner for a while now, but even though he's suffered from the above trifecta of Twinkie miscast/misuse, if you're a legit MLB'er, you've got to somehow rise to the occasion, and more than just occasional-ly. Whether or not you're in the proper role, or your manager doesn't trust you in situations, or whatever the case, you've got to pitch your ass off, and get some good results. As much as I want to keep supporting the guy, IMHO, The FO should bite the bullet, take the risk, and send him down. This season is already about letting the young hitters hit, and auditioning pitchers to go along with them. I think it's about time for a "Gulfa" Tonkin Resolution.
  3. Hector been dodgin' bullets all night--- scary.
  4. Bux again. This is encouraging. Keep it up, young man.
  5. Geez. that's more than The Crusher and The Bruiser tag team.
  6. Yep. Near where I used to teach school. I still have permanent chili sauce on a coupla shirts
  7. Y'know, over here on this side of the big lake, and with all the day games, I haven't been able to follow much. But holy cow, looking at the BA's in that Ranger lineup, sheesh! 'Dey worse 'den us, like by a lot! The only guy above water there is that catcher Chirinos, (which, coincidentally, was my go-to dish at Tommies back in LA).
  8. Hm. Delino singles, sharply, it says. On base again, leading off. I wonder if this has the makings of a "Snapper Give-the-lead-back" inning? Or am I just naturally pissimistic? (sic)
  9. OK, does this qualify for a CBU-type deal? I just absolutely do not get, and have never gotten, why we have had both Messrs. Escobar and DSantana on the roster at the same time. For me, (and I suspect for a handful of others), Mr. Escobar has it in spades over Mr. DSan, and they are able to cover exactly the same number of positions defensively. Now, I don't want to see either of them in the outfield at any time, but this is among the biggest wtf moves the Twinks have made in recent years.
  10. OMG- now there's a blast from the past. I remember a few 'easy nights' and 'mellow daze' from a few bottles of that back in high school. I fact, that memory just engendered a little reflection....

  12. And it's got those mellowing agents...
  13. I heard this place is supposed to be good.

  15. New nickname, it looks like. Ervin "Zog-tana"
  16. Kind of reminds me of '87, when we had "Frank and Bert, then hit the dirt."
  17. So who gets the 9th? "Gulfa" Tonkin?
  18. You know, I think you nailed the thing that makes me unnerved about Gibby. Kind of like the face Ewan McGregor made whenever he had to hit any high notes singing in "Moulin Rouge." He didn't look like he was in the throes of musical ecstasy, not like he was enjoying himself at all. He looked more like Gibby on the mound.
  19. From MLB website: April 23, 2017 at 6:33 PM ET Hicks homers, knocks in five Tigers first baseman John Hicks went 3-for-5 with a homer, two runs and five RBIs against the Twins on Sunday. Thanks, Terry.
  20. I have been so done with Gibby for the last couple of years. I was hoping and praying they'd pull the trigger on that erstwhile Tulo trade back then. And when they were jerking May around to the BP, I wanted Gibby to be the one to give up his seat (because we had that Pelfrey mirage going on just then...heh...). He needs to go to the pen. I don't think AAA is the answer for him. These dang day games- they happen in the middle of the night for me. Fortunately, I have a terrible cold, so I was up for a while last night. Put the radio feed on, and my Gawd, you could hear the smack of the line drives he was giving up. They were teeing off on him- again. Thankfully fell asleep during the pitching change- but strange dreams I had...
  21. Well, I'm having some crow for breakfast, after ripping on Boshers coming up- and he was about the only decent thing the Twinks had on the mound. Other than Gimenez. And the much-maligned Breslow. Gibby. Sheesh...
  22. I'm quoting my own post here- just to note that in order to "fix" our bullpen, we called up a guy with an ERA over 7, and a whip of 1.64. That oughta do it.
  23. Please, do NOT bring up another pitcher, other than JB-- Edit time: I just saw the news about Boshers-- Criminy, I can't think of a worse choice for them to make. Unless they're giving him one last chance to sink or swim-- How about we stop this charade about constantly promoting placeholders over high-ceiling guys? I'm already set to give up on contending this year, and giving the kids (who are looking less like kids all the time), some serious MLB playing time. I'm sick of this. I think what the fans need to do is stage a general strike, and pick a game to not show up. Gawd, this is just more of the same-old same-old.
