    That sounds right. Rodney starts the year as the closer, and Reed is the fireman coming in at any high leverage situation. Hildenberger/Rogers are the other 7th/8th inning guys, and the rest will fill in at other times.

    Agreed. It probably helps that it wasn't Falvine who signed Hughes to an extension in the first place. They won't feel obligated to get any value out of him if he's not fully recovered. It would be quite the surprise if he came back throwing 91 or better! I'm not expecting it, but hey, why not hope?

    Gordon really needs to produce against lefties... Otherwise he'll be unplayable if/when he is called up. I'm in no rush calling him up to the majors until he can improve in that skill. And really, I wouldn't be comfortable with it until he is moderately successful (.650+ OPS) after ~400 PAs. I still think it makes sense to dangle him in a package trade for a top of the rotation arm.

    My thoughts haven't changed... Darvish just isn't that interested in the Twins. Maybe I'd change my mind if they ever got their schedules to match up for a face to face meeting. I'm so freaking bored of this off-season talking about the same players who still haven't signed.

    There's plenty of examples throughout baseball where starters convert to relief without any health issues. I agree prior to the last 2 seasons he was durable and healthy. I still consider him injury prone missing 3 months and pitching ineffectively for 3 months in 2016. Plus all of 2017/part of 2018. We can disagree and move on.

    Did Will Smith erase your memories of 2016 like "Men in Black"? He missed most of May, then was shut down for the season on August 6th because of his back issues.

    I'll be following LaMonte Wade per usual... I'm a big fan of his plate discipline and hope he makes it to AAA. Akil Baddoo as well. I think he'll be a top 100 prospect by midseason, and everyone will be jumping on the bandwagon soon.

    That Wipeout curveball. When it was on last year, it was deadly. He seemed to always get the Sunday afternoon starts last season. So I was fortunate to watch a vast majority of his starts.

    Good list overall. I agree with the top 5 as Nick sees it. I'm also surprised Mauer didn't make the cut as others are. In my personal rankings, I would leave Duffey and May off the list. Low leverage middle relievers are a dime a dozen, and May is too injury prone. I'd put Mauer, and probably Baddoo on the list in their place. Baddoo is a borderline top 100 prospect this winter. Another positive season from him and he'll be the talk of this website.

    In an ideal world he could have used more time in AAA learning this against better competition than AA. This is a result of relying on prospects to fill MLB jobs. Granted he's had moderate success so far. I don't envy him learning something critical for his long term career at the highest level.

    I felt Bryan Shaw was a good bet considering his track record, durability, and live arm. Unless bullpenning in the playoffs fades away, the years and salary rate is only going to increase.

    Like Chief said, these kind of signings are fine, even great if you're filling out the 6th/7th option in a bullpen. Is it too much to ask to have one proven, great reliever or starter? Because as it stands right now the back end of the bullpen looks like Duke/Hildenberger in the 8th, and Rodney closing it out. There's not a lot of room for error...

    I've heard you should never meet your sports/entertainment heroes because you'll come out of it disappointed. As a young kid I idolized Ken Griffey Jr. and Pedro Martinez. It was fortunate that they both appeared to play the game honestly. But I don't know a thing about them outside of the playing field. As an adult, my heroes changed to real people in my life. My parents, mentors in the industry I work in, others that have helped me along the way.

    Unless I'm reading the account on her Twitter wrong, all 4 were outside. Then she asked her boss where the restroom was, she pointed to the door they just went through, and then Sano tried to pull her through the door they just exited for a solid 10 minutes. That's where at least I need some clarity what happened to the 2 other guys outside?

    If you don't mind venturing off to Netflix movies for a hot minute... If "Bright" with Will Smith pops up on your list, do yourself a favor and skip it. We had to turn it off after 30 minutes it was that bad.

    Also, rumor has it Darvish was tipping his pitches in the world series that the Astros picked up on. I value his overall numbers over the recency bias of his last 2 starts.

    Overall I think there's a lot of talent in this community. Collaboration would help make this place even better IMO. Game threads for example I've partnered with Barks Lounge who is one of the best photoshop users I've seen. I've also asked Brock if he had illustrations I could use for game thread themes, and Pardon My Dinger for collaborating on parody songs. Unfortunately we weren't able to figure out how to make the music portion work... What software to use that would work on this website. I also remember Pardon My Dinger did a live game thread where you could listen to his rants and comments throughout the game that I think is very creative. I've envisioned game threads and other threads with video, pictures, and other creative methods. Long story short, we could make this place great using each of our different talents together.
