  1. I was just coming here to post this. Cross San Diego off the list.
  2. It’s hard to imagine a front office having a worse offseason than Falvey and Levine in winter 2020.
  3. Rumor has it the only reason the 2nd pitcher was included from the Rays is because we’re also sending all of the Nelson Cruz Star Wars bobble heads that’s being handed out on Monday.
  4. We had this grand idea that we could sustain a playoff caliber club for a decade like we did in the 2000s, and it’s not coming to fruition. The landscape in baseball has changed. Almost every FO has an analytical approach, focusing on draft and development. It’s time to admit our window of contention should be similar to Kansas City. We don’t need to spend $175 million to win, but when the stars align like they did in 2019, it’s crucial to push all of the chips in. In regards to allocation of funds this year, we wasted $18 million on 4 pitchers who have provided minimal value, and $11 million to a now part time 1B who’s been replacement level since 2019.
  5. No doubt. The dominoes are stacked, and Berrios is the first one. If he goes, then the other dominoes will fall too.
  6. I mean, if Falvey is anything like his former colleagues in Cleveland, we need to target pop up prospects like Megill and build on their success. Could this guy be a late bloomer like Kluber was? That’s why they get paid the big bucks to make these calls.
  7. Grab the defibrillator. This team doesn’t have a pulse. I see no reason to continue letting Happ start for the team… There’s someone in AAA who can at least match Happ’s 7+ ERA over the last 3 months. Stick a fork in him.
  8. I didn’t see the shift prior to Miggy’s at bat. Gordon had to have been playing next to the fence to not get that pop up. The team in extra innings is the equivalent of my putting game right now. Totally lost and full of yips.
  9. All 29 teams need to see how many games Buxton is capable of playing in a season. At this point, even the big markets won’t spend more than a high AAV 2-3 year contract.
  10. I’m not sure who Nike designed the jerseys for to sell to. It’s not me… Why did they change the previous tradition of wearing your team’s uniform?
  11. You know what I’ve missed as a long distance fan watching on MLB.tv? Ball park sounds! I understand why they disabled the feature last year when there were no fans, but it needs to come back now that we’re back in the stands!
  12. Our first round pick is certainly enjoying his time on camera. Let’s go has to be the most overused phrase for 18 year olds.
  13. HS pitcher. Playing the long, risky game. Hope it works out!
  14. I wouldn’t say that. I just said their expiring contracts. They could opt to sell Kyle Hendricks with 3 reasonable years left on his deal, Chaffin has 1.5 years left, and Joc Pederson has a $10 million option in 2022.
  15. This type of content is why I come to Twins Daily. Well done!
  16. Another factor that will potentially go against the Twins’ favor this deadline is other surprise selling teams. The Cubs have been playing badly enough to start selling. And their assets (Bryant, Rizzo, Baez, Kimbel) are better than ours.
  17. Excellent analysis Tom! The truth hurts reading the results 3-4 years later. The Eduardo Escobar trade looks like a win if Duran sticks in the rotation. I was on record hating the Pressly trade as it occurred, and still hate it today. Sure, now we’ve seen both players received in the trade make their MLB debut. Neither look like difference makers. What really hurt is Pressly became a stud immediately after the trade to the tune of 78 innings and 1.85 ERA for the remaining 1.5 years of control.
  18. Pretty sound logic to me in the OP. I don’t think the deadline will be electric for our Twins. The only expiring contract performing well is Cruz, and his market will be limited to maybe 1 or 2 teams. Andrelton Simmons’ slash line in 56 games since returning from Covid: .216/.273/.295 - there won’t be teams lining up thinking he’s an upgrade. Hansel Robles update, per @Matthew Tayloron Twitter: Pineda hasn’t looked good in a while, and probably still fighting through injury today. The others are not worth mentioning other than DFA once a prospect is ready.
  19. Concur. Berrios was good today. It was 2 terrible throws from our fielders that caused 2 White Sox runners moving 90 feet. Until that point in time CWS put 2 balls in play. Then he shut down a high contact lineup to deserve a win.
  20. I’m not thrilled with the recap after reading the series… Lewis is probably still a top 100 prospect heading into 2022 but trending down, obviously, after the ACL surgery. Maybe Balazovic or Duran with a hot 2nd half. Canterino is too far away right now for me at this point. The pre-season top prospects Kirilloff and Larnach are in MN getting nearly everyday at bats.
  21. To be honest I like the 11-15 group better than the 6-10 group. I’m echoing previous comments not liking the Wallner and Sabato ranking. If Larnach settles in at LF/RF and Kirilloff at 1B, they’re going to have a tough road to get to the show. Cavaco is still so raw that it scares me he’s ranked #6. I think we’ll be able to find a couple good years of #4/5 starting pitching out of the Ober, Sands, and Winder trio.
  22. Perhaps it’s simply coincidence that ever since the Giolito incident, articles have been written about him being the least liked person on the team and now is the time to trade him. To me, it looks like we’ve turned on him quickly. He’s still producing, and if he transitions to a DH/3B role, who’s to say he won’t play in more games?
