  1. I agree that it seems Vargas should be nearing a promotion to Rochester. However, I also always try to remember that for every promotion, there needs to be a subsequent move. While it is easy to say cut this guy or that guy, it isn't always an easy thing to do. If Vargas goes to AAA, who at Rochester goes back to AA or gets cut? Remember, it needs to be someone at a similar position or a position that has too many guys already.
  2. I am hopeful that Bartlet and Kubel are on a short leash to see if they can contribute at the major league level again. The, after 10 - 15 games, if they cannot, move forward with th younger guys like Parmalee. As for loosing Pressley to the Astros, I don't think there is that much of a difference between him and Mastro so I don't see it as a huge lose. With Buxton waiting in the wings, I don't think we need a lot of CF candidates. Next year, Buxton will hopefully be ready and Hicks could be the backup / LF / 4th depending on who develops and is ready.
  3. Absolutely not on Drew unless the asking price comes way down and it is a longer term deal, and we all know that is not Boras' style. If the price drops, it will be a 1 year deal. With the loss of the draft pick, in a deep draft, No Way! Not worth it and it is not gonna happen. Anyone who says it is a smart move is crazy!
  4. I think people have given up on Worley WAAAAY to quickly. I don't see any way the Twins expose him to waivers. He would be claimed immediately. I think he is going to wind up on the roster as the 5th starter and have a semi successful season.
  5. If its a minor league deal, I don't see how it would be a bad thing for the Twins. Give him time to get healthy and ready in the minors and when someone at the ML level breaks down or flames out, give him a shot, if he's ready. Similar to the Rich Harden deal last year.
  6. I agree with this. He is too young to just jettison. He had a bad year and had some injury concerns going into that year. I agree that Worley will be the #5 coming out of ST and then they can evaluate him until Deduna is "ready" to pitch after his injury.
  7. To me, it comes doewn to Deduno or Worley. Diamond could make the squad as a reliever or the Twins will try to pass him through waivers. If he is claimed, then he is gone. Gibson and Meyer can use some more seasoning in the minors. Deduno has pitched well enough to earn a short at the 5th spot but will he be ready to pitch when spring starts. Also, how soon will he be well enough to start in the minors. I suspect the Twins might use the injury as an opportunity to start him in the minors on a "rehad" assignment. I think people are writing Worley off way too soon. He was a solid pitcher for Philadelphia before coming to the Twins. He was horrible last year. Let's see how he does in spring training this year. I wouldn't be surprised if the Twins name him their 5th starter and give him a few starts to prove he deserves it. If he pitches well, they will find a spot for him. If not, then they can move try to pass him through waivers and see if someone claims him.
  8. Any updates on the 40 man roster? Doesn't that need to be set by today or is that next Wednesday?
  9. Where is Perkins? You missed him and his $3.75M.
  10. Interesting argument between Shane Wahl and SpiritofVodkaDave. Typically, I don't agree with either one of you as you both seem to think you have way more knowledge then you really do. However, in this case, SpiritofVodkaDave was the clear winner of the argument and actually confessed that Terry Ryan might be a better GM than he would be, so maybe I misjudged you SpiritofVodkaDave. I'll read your posts with more of an open mind for a while.
  11. Is it serious or just sometghing minor that will keep him out for a little?
  12. I think Jimenez is worth the risk. The Twins needs a veteran "ace" and he fits the bill, even with the risk. I'm not sure he would be the leader in the clubhouse like they would like, but I also don't know that he won't. The Twins need to make a committment to starting pitching and it will probably be somewhat risky in order to get the pitcher with the upside that they will be looking for and need. Jimenez fits that bill. Now, the key is really, how does he turn out. We need him to be very successful!
  13. Is something up with Buxton in the AFL? I haven't seen him in a box score lately.
  14. Pressly's average fastball this last year was almost 94 MPH. We really have no starters that reach that regularly. It is probable that there is a decrease in this if he starts but I still think it is worth a shot. It appears we have plenty of reliever candidates but few starter candidates. I think trying Pressly as a starter makes perfect sense and would be an excellent move.
  15. Really? I thought McCann was a total douchebag. I think Gomez was out of line but I thought the Braves handled it very poorly also and McCann was terrible. That's twice he's done something like this after doing it to Fernandez of Miami too. He better sprint around the bases when he hits a home run or he is a huge hypocrite.
  16. If the Twins fire Gardenhire, they are idiots. Someone will hire him in a heartbeat.
  17. It's articles like this that tend to make me not come to Twins Daily for anything other than the minor league wrap-up.
  18. Why do people keep saying Sano might be a September call up? It makes no sense! Rosario is a slim possibility but it will not and should not happen for Sano! Get off it people!
  19. I fall on the "Parmalee needs to play at the MLB level every day" side of this arguement. I am a huge Morneau fan, but we need to explore trading him, Doumit and Willingham. At least 2 of the three need to be gone after this years trade deadline. And then Parmalee needs to play every day.
  20. Sounds like Slegers has signed according to a post from the Twins on Facebook. Nice!
  21. Oh my God! Really! It is 3 games. Go away!
  22. Wow! Do just hate Gardy or everything in life! You have a negative attitude in every thread I've read. I don't understand why you follow them?
  23. When was his surgery as he only pitched 5 innings in 2012. He should actually be ready to pitch some this year, shouldn't he?
  24. Does anyone know the status of Wimmers? I know he struggled and then was hurt last year but we've all seem to have forgotten about him. He was an excellent pitcher, regardless of how hard he did or did not throw. Will he pitch this year? What is his upside? He's only 24 years old so it's not like he's old yet.
  25. I am on the Benson bandwagon. I am hopefully he puts it together and has a good solid year. Would love to see an outfield, at the end of the season, of Benson if LF, Hicks in CF and Arcia in RF. Willingham and Morneau traded for solid prospects and Parmalee at 1B.
