  1. Mauer hits into the shift. Hardy right there.
  2. If Buxton does not start in center, is it Ryan Sweeney?
  3. Nope, he is an android. http://photos.gograph.com/thumbs/CSP/CSP534/k5345673.jpg
  4. How many home runs can Buxton hit if he only bats .215?
  5. Mount Crushmore The Twins had pop up and down the lineup those seasons.
  6. Mauer has a compact swing. Perhaps he needs a little more kick.
  7. I have a good friend that came to the United States as a young boy. In 7th grade his English was poor, but he managed through it. He taught me how to say certain sound forms that English doesn't have, and it was enlightening. When I talk to young second or third generation Vietnamese American students, I notice that their names have been Americanized one way or another. Nguyen is either "Win" or "Newyen". When I use the Vietnamese pronounciation, I am corrected. I find that a bit ironic, but it is now what it is. Thank you for the update. The world is getting flatter every day.
  8. Isn't the "By..." sound a character that is not in English? Is that like "b-yung" but very quickly stated? Is it like the "Ng..." sound in Vietnamese?
  9. I made a similar post a couple weeks ago. I heard Be-Young Park. Is that what you heard?
  10. I wonder how Korean players feel when the MLB team has to fork out $5 - $12 million to their old team. Shouldn't the player be seeing most of that money?
  11. As long as the Twins protect Sean Gilmartin, I am fine with it. WHAT? Nevermind ...
  12. Has Park been signed? If he is signed, does he start in AAA?
  13. What has Buxton done at the major league level to show he can hit? Hicks was working on it and could hit from one side. With our luck, the Yankees will insist Hicks only hits from the right side and he improves to a .290 overall hitter with an .800 OPS.
  14. I don't see it that way. I want players the Twins trade for to do well and players they trade away to bust rather than the other way around. I do check in on the ex-Twins players from time to time, but that is likely because I believe they will do better than what we got for them, and I want to have evidence that the GM, manager, and hitting coach couldn't figure it out. In the long run, I'd rather have a front office that knows how to deal than hold a special place for players that did not contribute for the Twins. For veteran players that leave via free-agency or forced a trade, there is little love lost. Carew doesn't count because the Twins wanted him to play for peanuts.
  15. Other than Rod, Burt, and Papi, I have never wanted an ex-Twin to do well. I suspect that Washington didn't want Arnold to do well for the British either. Ex-Twins are now the enemy.
  16. Would I hire Gardenhire? No, ... he doesn't know how to set up a lineup card.
  17. The term "great" is reserved for World Series teams. 83 game winners who finish 12 games back in their division and can't even grab one of two wild card spots need not apply.
  18. I don't mind the song; I just mind hearing it so many times as the Wild go down in flames year after year. Maybe the Wild should use Joker and the Thief by Wolfmother.
  19. The wave is as innocuous as singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the seventh inning stretch. It is better than having to listen to "Chelsea Dagger" as the Blackhawks goal song.
  20. For qualified players, Suzuki is last in MLB with a .183 caught stealing percentage and last in range factor. For comparison, Wilson Ramos is third in MLB with a .422 caught stealing percentage and fourth in range factor. Suzuki is 17th in CERA (of 20 qualified players). I wonder how much better the Twins' pitchers would be with a better catcher.
  21. I disagree. The WC winner should not lose its best pitcher to start off the first playoff series because he was used to secure the Wild Card win. In my opinion, it is a cheat and cheapens the playoffs.
  22. I do not like that is messes up the playoff pitching rotation for the Wild Card teams. It gives an unfair advantage to the divisional winners. So much for the playoffs throwing out the records and starting anew.
  23. The umps will widen the strike zone for the Yankees' pitchers and narrow it for the Twins'.
  24. Hunter is a good, but not great, player. He is no Kirby Pucket or Harmon Killebrew. Being away for seven seasons also puts a stale taste in my mouth.
