  1. I view the White Sox as similar rivals as the Packers, Bear, and Blackhawks. For that reason, I dislike them. The Yankees and Cowboys are hated because they are franchises that are willing to ruin the game to win and believe they have the right to do so. The Dodgers, Angels, Red Sox, and Patriots are are getting up there too. The Angels also nabbed Rod Carew in a forced trade, and the Cowboys not only have the "push off" but also the Walker trade. The Lakers and Stars are hated because they moved our franchises. That puts them on Psycho's death list. http://www.bgcabana.com/wp-content/uploads/avatars/5/3a747a0aadfc56f48cae123013b40c64-bpfull.jpg
  2. Rodon? What about Godzilla, Mothra, and Ghidorah? I know, spelling, but I cannot help seeing it. Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Stars, LA Lakers, Green Bay Packers, New York Yankees, ....
  3. I guarantee not all of these guys will pan out. That is why trading known major league players for low level prospects is a risky move.
  4. Al Newman was basically an out before he stepped into the batters box. He had a nice smile and some hustle but not much else.
  5. No guarantee clauses on two particular contracts.
  6. The Twins traded away three players that led their respective teams in batting average last season. Yeah, they got some pitching prospects, but all of those hits, all of that base speed, and all of that defense has not been filled by prospects like the Twins had hoped. Mauer is not seeing the pitches he was with better hitters on base in front of him and better hitters protecting him. His lack of a power swing means pitchers can challenge him if he gets behind in the count. Without players on base, does it matter if he gets a hit? If I was a pitching coach, I would pitch Mauer at the edges early, get up on the count with the expanded strike zone, and challenge him to hit your best pitch. What is there to lose?
  7. The Twins, with Gardenhire, wanted all of their players to hit the same way. That did not work out so well for Gomez or Hardy, and it did not work for David Ortiz either. When the Twins had Mount Crushmore, all of the hitters hit differently. Hrbek, Puckett, Brunansky, and Gaetti were all a change of pace at the plate. None of them were afraid to take a big swing with two strikes and players on base. Dan Gladden and Chili Davis hit differently too. Some of these players were pull hitters, some hit the other way, some protected the plate, and others let it rip. This is how Dan Gladden sees it, and I agree: http://blog.startribune.com/sports/randball/interesting-critique-of-the-twins-way-by-dan-gladden-on-tuesday-radio-broadcast
  8. I cussed the day David Ortiz was released. That kind of power does not come every day, and the Twins just gave up on him.
