  1. Well, considering Kepler's BABIP is like 135 points lower than Santana's was his rookie year... Of course, Kepler could fall off an have a slump, but if he does, it'll be for different reasons.
  2. I figure we should give Buxton at least another 4-5 years to figure it out.
  3. yeah exactly. being able to only point to one guy and say it worked for him is actually a point against it happening not a point for it happening. there was this ONE tall guy and he ended up an inner circle HOF pitcher...:-)
  4. 'The Twins didn't make great selections with their trade picks (though Revere's lack of development and Span's up-and-down injury history hardly make the trades total losses)' Span trade was a 100% lost for the Twins. Not only in value for what he was worth versus what he was paid, but also taking into account that, in four years since he was trade, we STILL haven't replaced him AND then what we got for him became a total BUST. Guy was worth over 70M in the last three years we would have had him (under the contract he signed with us before he was traded), and he was paid around 20M. That's 50M surplus value and we got a player who hasn't done anything. So yeah, 100% lost on the trade.
  5. yeah, it really hasn't come close to Mauer posts actually :-)
  6. If AJ can throw you out, you have issues :-)
  7. I never tried golf until I was 27. A friend of mine took me out one day and I found out I could drive the heck out of the ball off the tee, but it would slice like crazy most of the time. Once I figured out how far to stand, I had driving the ball down. Then came progress in the irons. My putting always seems to be good. My last round that year I shot a 90 on a par 72. I've played sparingly ever since. In fact, I haven't played since I retired from the Air Force.
  8. his .400+ BABIP since 1 July ;-)
  9. Now give us a list of all the players who were this bad to start their MLB career who never amounted to much of anything, if anything at all, in MLB. Wonder which list is bigger? :-) There are a bunch of young guys the last couple years who have come up and hit the ground running. This guy was the #2 pick, was a top 10 prospect his first year and a top 2 prospect the next three years. Buxton keeps having to go down because he has no clue at the plate. He Ks more than 36% of the time, his BA is under .200, he gets on base less than 25% of the time and his wRC+ this year was 46. And it bothers you people are showing their disappointment?
  10. Yeah, like I mentioned, his BABIP is like .400 since July. That's why his OBP rose (and now falling again). Nothing has changed about his approach other than more are dropping in for hits. I haven't really seen much of a difference. Either way, I doubt this team gives up on him. Nor should they. He's a nice #4 OF.
  11. BD can't bring back a front of the rotations starter.
  12. never got a sniff, except the very first year of his 8 year contract that is:-)
  13. I think he meant he likely won't be in the majors this year so the next season he'd be 27, but semantics is a fun game.
  14. If you want to think going from a 20-50 ish prospect two years in a row to out of the top 100 is no big deal, that's completely your choice.
  15. 3 years in a row he was in the pre-season top 100 prospects then fell completely off this year.
  16. The Twins showed how much they care about defense when they put Sano in the OF. Or Santana anywhere...
  17. Twins are 29th in defense in regards to defensive runs saved (-51). At least we aren't 30th... If errors and/or fielding % are your defensive stats of choice, also 29th in both.
  18. Is that the Rosario who has a .290 OBP this year and falling (after peaking at a whopping .301)? His .290 OBP is an improvement over his .289 OBP last year. Small steps. :-) And IF he's a big reason why the twins have been playing so well then one must conclude he's also a big reason why we've gone 1-5 in the last 6 games where he's gotten 10Ks, four hits and zero walks. 3 Walks since the beginning of June May. His BABIP, however, has gone through the roof since the beginning of July.
  19. For the Cards, Peralta is at 3B, and Carpenter is at 1st. They moved Peralta to 3B because Diaz was doing so well. Now he's out so Garcia is there. But it's not like Carpenter can't go back to 3B if they want Moss at 1B with Peralta sliding back to shortstop. They have options.
  20. I will enjoy watching Meyer play for the Salt Lake Bees for the next 3 seasons :-)
  21. you know, I was thinking, what if the Astros make the playoffs by one game? They can thank the rain for it.
