  1. I honestly don't know why people are so worried about game time.
  2. This article is a real world breakdown of our relief corp. If one reads it, they see that. And you are right, it is not very promising.
  3. The point of the rankings MLB Network is doing is who they believe are the top 10 at each position in the majors right now. But you are cracking me up :-)
  4. I'm not sure Shredder even considers it an outlier, I doubt anyone watching him thinks he's only a role player like his WAR the previous two years says. Just need to see if he can come close to being that good again offensively before putting him above guys who have shown they are very good year in and year out offensively and defensively, for the most part. Because his value is almost all from offense, because he rates below average defense, so we will see. I don't see Shredder's ranking of Pedroia and Zobrist above Altuve as any kind of knock on Shredder.
  5. Well, it talks about who to target for fantasy baseball for sure, but the info given about the bullpen is real world info as the quotes I provided clearly show. And notice the guy said Pelfrey might very well be a really good reliever choice?
  6. yeah, but a jump of almost 4 WAR? And hey, I'm not saying he can't do it again, but one shouldn't just ASSUME that when ranking the 2Bs. ONE great year shouldn't put him above guys who have been very good for years, including last year. I wouldn't take him before Zobrist of Pedroia.
  7. Over at Rotographs, they had an article about our bullpen. Here's the link: http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/the-overworked-twins-bullpen/ 'Only three bullpens in baseball threw more innings than the Twins in 2014 — the Rockies, Cubs and Angels. No ‘pen struck out fewer batters than the Twins at 6.7 per 9. Worse yet was that the unit had the third-worst groundball rate at 40.1 percent. Sure, that’s OK in a big park, but not if you don’t have good outfielders, and not particularly if you don’t strike anybody out.' 'The Twins have become strangely married to relievers who, quite frankly, aren’t elite in today’s game. While the average MLB relief corps fanned 8.5 batters per 9 last year, the Twins lagged nearly two strikeouts behind.' 'Credit the club for seeing how the game is trending and addressing it — even if it was in a weird way. The Twins loaded up on relievers in the 2014 draft. That seems like an odd strategy, but at the same time given the attrition of picks after the first round or two, maybe going with high-ceiling, quick-moving arms isn’t the worst thing? It’ll make for a fascinating case study.'
  8. That or the Shredder values consistently high quality performance to one very good offensive year that came out of the blue. Last year Altuve's 5.1 WAR was 4th for 2Bs and before that he had never been above 1.5. Zobrist was 1st in WAR.
  9. From what I see, they are currently the best team in the division. They should win it. 100 wins is a lot, but yeah, it wouldn't surprise me.
  10. Exactly. He had a FIP of 3.80, but an ERA of 4.47. Not surprisingly, Gibson was hurt pretty badly by the 'defense' we had out there. Too bad that wasn't addressed this offseason.
  11. yeah, I have them, at minimum, making the playoffs.
  12. Kiley never said they shouldn't try him as a starter. He, and many other scouts, just think eventually he'll be a closer. I don;t know why this evaluation upsets so many people. These guys get paid for their opinions because they're good at it, not because they are perfect at it.
  13. I'd add that all quality stats give a truer picture the larger the sample size gets, but yeah, especially when giving more weight to the last three seasons.
  14. Seems the point he was making about Wimmers is that it's about time to see what he has. And my point is, it's about time to see what Meyer has. Past time on both, really. The fact that Meyer JUST turned 25 doesn't change that.
  15. I think he was just joking
  16. yup, I was the one who asked the question in the chat :-) Additionally on page one of this thread, I pointed out his breakdown of Meyer where he said most scouts consider him a future closer and Kiley said #3/#4 starter or closer.
  17. I am way more excited to see Berrios suit up as a Twin than I am about Meyer. I Meyer the next Morrow, only taller?
  18. Pedroai has consistently had a WAR in the 4s or higher pretty much his whole career. The last 4 years it's been 7.7, 4.3, 5.4 and 4.4. I think he gets the benefit of the doubt that, when taking into account overall play, he's awesome. He is one of my favorite players in the game.
  19. Well, Zobrist has gotten a lot of hype for his hybred routine and his consistent excellence for many years, and it took awhile for Walker to get his due since the team only started doing well recently. In any event, the Shredder makes his choices and then two or three others give theirs as well. With as poor as the Twins have been, they don't get much attention. Attention that they would get anyway if in another market. He's flying under the radar. And, like you said, Dozier hasn't been around a long time.
  20. was he working all the pitches in his current repertoire during those years? Would he fall back on his better pitchers to avoid the walks, instead of continuing to work them?
  21. 'Michaels suggests that the noise caused the winning, but -- I'd argue that the winning caused the noise.' I think that'd be an incredibly easy argument to make.
  22. They may wonder whether or not it's a good idea to assume a guy, who is already 25, will improve his control enough. I don't know. As Kiley said, many scouts see him as a closer, there's likely a reason for that. I hope thy are wrong.
  23. Maybe it's the ability to control these pitches consistently they see as a problem. I don't know. I sometimes thing we 'want' our guys to be better than many scouts think they will be. Not that the scouts are infallible by any means ut I think sometimes fans quickly dismiss scouts thoughts if they knock a guy we are hoping will be very good.
  24. unfortunately, it seems a good chunk of scouts think otherwise. I hope you are right. In Nov 2014, Baseball America also had him behind Stewart and Berrios. That's where I'd put him too.
