Hard to believe defense affects pitching. Even something barely important like corner defense :-)

Nice play by Joe. If he doesn't cut that off, guy likely scores. BTW, someone needs PFP.

Not sure if I remember correctly, but if I do, I had one of their pizzas (it was definitely someone's) at a Kiosk at Ohare one time while I was waiting for a connecting flight and I liked it so much I sent one to my dad. They kept it chilled and flew it out to him (deliveries like that were normal, part of their service, many people have pizzas delivered). Cost me quite a bit but he was appreciative since he's originally from Chicago.

Nice play by Cabrera. That's a double against most LF. Seems this game, corner defense has mattered.
  5. jimmer
    He's a master of it.

It's the kind of play that gets high school players kicked off their team. Gets even HS managers to sya things like, 'If you've gone this far in baseball already and haven't figured out that doing that is boneheaded, then you're gone' :-)

Happy B-Day! BTW, everyone knows the sun goes around the flat Earth. :-)

    Is it Centeno?

So Murphy got optioned, who is our backup catcher? BTW, wasn't Murphy supposed to push Suzuki for playing time and pretty much take over the starting job by season's end? Be prepared to welcome Suzuki back next year.

And sometimes it wasn't a request. I have a whole area of conversation I'm not allowed to even talk about in here (regardless of how it's presented) for threat of getting warning points/banned. And it's completely baseball team related and an issue that has had clear negative effects on the team.

The articles here tend to be very positive about the team and the organization. I was speaking more about some of the posters.

I wonder if a real reporter asked how a GM can bring up a pitcher to help the bullpen, and then he sits there for a week until he, instead, starts (leaving an overtaxed bullpen without any help for a week). Or maybe how a team can go into a game with a 2 man bench.

Some people had real issues with saying a guy was ready to be a regular who had a sub .290 OBP and whose OPS was helped by very likely non-repeatable amount of triples.
  14. jimmer
And he's going to stop being good this year during this particular start?

'I asked Pohlad why he has resisted the urge to make wholesale changes in organizational philosophy. “I don’t know what the difference in philosophy that people would like to see,” he said. “Everybody had universally high expectations for this season relative to last season. We bought into that. I still don’t see any flaw in that. It’s just system failure.”' Everyone had universally high expectations? And, BTW, there were huge flaws into buying into that. If the owner(s) and management bought into that, they weren't looking too deeply at the team assembled and how the numbers they had last year didn't support the record they had last year.

Seth, I thought I read an article by you before the season started or maybe it was just some comments, that said you thought we would be serious division contenders this season. Am I remembering correctly?

I'm sorry, but this is a poorly constructed team. That's on Ryan. Molitor has made a lot of boneheaded moves, but Ryan has made some questionable calls too.
  18. jimmer
In my post that you quoted I mentioned the catching part.
  19. jimmer
    exactly why I stuck around.

another umpire that makes it about him.

Elvis was always more of a closer. And he's dead :-)

hey, you move the decimal point to the right once, that's 75 cents

They are going to pinch hit Brian Dozier. Let's wrap our head around that for a bit. Not for Murphy with bases loaded, but for the guy who hit a HR, and with two outs and no one on.
  25. jimmer
we can now blame the loss on it being a HR park and the 2B bag.
