  1. I wouldn't give up Kepler for Zunino, no way. It's irrelevant though, TR isn't going to trade for Zunino. Would like to watch him next weekend though as Tacoma plays Salt Lake.
  2. How many of these guys do you think WILL be part of our next contender?
  3. It doesn't have to be either/or.
  4. Kepler's BA of .238 kind of loses it's negative feeling (for those who care a lot about that stat) when his OPS is over .800. More room to grow. Also his BABIP is about 40 points lower than league average.
  5. The majors are harder than the minors. If you compare certain minor league numbers to major league numbers, you will very often find minor league numbers better. Almost all players We don't know what Berrios is in the majors yet and I wouldn't say Gibson or Baker was great in the minors. I'm not saying our major league staff is good, but, IMO, I think our development in the minors is more of a problem. I think isn't an organizational thing.
  6. Berrios likely should have been up for good last year, and definitely for good this year.
  7. I was having the same conversations last year when I was being assured he had turned a corner. This could be the year, he'll only be 29 going into next season.
  8. http://www.masslive.com/news/boston/index.ssf/2015/01/black_lives_matter_protesters.html or because...
  9. I only asked becausehttp://www.allenbwest.com/matt-palumbo/black-lives-matter-block-highway-when-ambulance-tries-to-come-through-and-then
  10. If a ton of protestors block the highway, and an ambulance can't get to a person who needs it, or can't get a person to the hospital, can the protestors be charged?
  11. Shouldn't the police also be about trying to prevent crimes from happening? Let's say the car is stolen, but hasn't been reported yet because the owners don't know it's been stolen, and the detectives show up at the owners house. Car is long gone by then. Or let's say that by the time the detectives get to the house, the crime has been completed and everything has been all tidied up as the detectives come and try to figure out if a crime was even committed at all. What reason, at that point, would a judge give a detective a warrant? Based on a patrolman's gut intuition hours or days ago that maybe the driver was up to 'something but no idea what'? I think your idea is good in a classroom theory sort of way, but doesn't have real life application that shows any understanding of what law enforcement is about in it's entirety.
  12. See how much we've let expectations drop. We've seen so much bad for so long we lower our expectations to be happy. This is no shot on you, it's just that this is what we've had to do as a fan base. I remember in the offseason before 2010 being over the moon happy with getting aging Hudson for 2B, a castaway in Hardy, and an old Thome. Felt like hitting the lottery. Offseasons like that, really, aren't anything big but for us, WOW! Now, we're to the point of accepting the fact that this team will never sign a true ace, and can't seem to develop any, so we say let's be happy for a bunch of threes because it'd actually be an improvement.
  13. Poor Man's Lucroy, huh? I don't know how many GMs will see that, but I hope there's at least one and he calls Ryan before Ryan offers Suzuki a 3 year extension.
  14. Don't forget Jay and Stewart. Powerhouse rotation coming. Just wait. Hey remember the debate last year about Gibson and how so many thought he had turned a corner and we'd see great things this year? Yeah, about that. But hey, he's still young too. Patience.
  15. Well, yeah, they are easier to find. Teams have more of them than any position, so FINDING them is quite easy. Past finding them, say, to the point of actually signing good ones to make a good BP, therein lies the problem :-)
  16. By media, do you mean Twins media because nationally, I'm not sure I saw too much comparison to Trout. In any event, we are seeing quite a few youngsters on other teams come up with hype and actually perform right out the gate. With as high of rankings as he got in the prospect listings for years, I don't think it's unfair to be disappointed by what we've seen so far (while still believing he could be a very good player one day). If he was just any 22 year old player, that'd be different, but he was a top 2 prospect for 3 years. Combining that with seeing youngsters dominate the sport today, it's a bit hard to see him be so outmatched at the plate most of the time. Ther was a time I was thinking he could be a Eric Davis type player (but healthier). Now I'm thinking, perhaps more like Franklin Gutierrez. Amazing defensive CF for years, but not much of a bat.
  17. I'm not sure getting an ok reliever in the middle of a playoff race, and nothing more, constitutes a push for the playoffs. It beats selling in the middle of a playoff race, like 2007.
  18. and that will turn out the same way priority #1 last offseason did :-)
  19. I just want to know how long before we can be bothered this team is so bad. How long should the patience last before we stop getting told to be patient? In the bigger picture. 25 years since we won a World Series. We've made the playoffs SIX times since then. It's been 14 years or so since we made it past the first round of the playoffs.
  20. But weren't you last year praising Ryan's efforts and saying we were true contenders, that we had reached the contender window, and would continue to be contenders this year and beyond? If you were one of the people here saying that, then how can you now say it was obvious we were not anywhere near the point of maintaining contention so a big trade for a proven player would have been absurd? Having said that, I am glad we didn't trade Kepler or Berrios for sure, never thought we should, but still.
  21. They had more than their fair share of breaks. The sequencing they had last year was unsustainable that's why many people saw that their roster was mostly the same going into this year and we'd see a fall back (though not THIS far of a fall). Can't blame them not making the playoffs on a few breaks not going their way, you can say they had a lot of things go their way to put this team even in the 2nd wild card race last year to begin with.
  22. If you haven't seen/heard it yet, Samuel L. Jackson did a beginner's guide to Game of Thrones where he recaps the series in about 7 minutes. It's so awesome!
  23. Good Wife wasn't on USA though, It was a prime time show. Suits was good, though and White Collar was very good. Psych was fun.
  24. Also, Ramos hasn't exactly been the model of health since he's been gone either. This is his 6th season away, this year will be his 3rd one with 90 or more starts. In the 5 1/2 seasons, he's accumulated less than 10 WAR.
