  1. According to pitchtrax that 3rd called strike on Span was a definite ball. Liriano has had several closer pitches all be called balls.
  2. I want to believe this, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Most fans were saying the same thing about Valencia his rookie year. Things change and too often for the Twins they change for the worse. But let's enjoy his play today and hope that it continue for many years.
  3. Looks like Liriano will bring his ERA into the 4s today, if all continues to go well.
  4. Prediciton: Butler breaks up Liriano's no-hitter in the 6th. After what Chen did to us last time, I'm not giggly about scoring more than 2 runs this game.
  5. I think it's clear that the Twins will not be using the DH more and more as a 'day off' -- an unconventional use of the DH for sure and without much evidence to support this use of the DH.
  6. The fact that several Twins players are having All-star quality seasons so far shines a huge sun-bolt of light on how devastatingly bad other players have been in order to justify our still currently super record.
  7. Twins had better only be looking to trade for potential or clearly successful starters who have decent contracts and with at least 2 years remaining. Otherwise wait for free agency.
  8. In a perfect -- scratch that -- ahem, in a better world you would be correct, but with Blackburn's contract and no room in the pen, he stays, and stays, and stays....
  9. Nice outing Cole. Don't know how he does it, but he finds a way to be successful.
  10. Missed game one and just now looking at the box. Noticed just what you mention. Why waste Perkins in a 5-run game? Am I missing something or is this just stupid as heck?
  11. Kubel is a better hitter, but Doumit's 'ability' to catch makes this a good deal to use him as a DH mostly. Though, this does mean that Butera is also a lock on the 25 man for the next two years, but if he continues to play like he has this year, I can stomach it while still disagreeing with the 3 catcher model.
  12. Yep, we've already got you down for that. Let us know if anything changes.
  13. Count me as one becoming disgruntled with the interface/experience of this site. While the sites had problems all week, for the first time today, it wouldn't even load the home page, not just the thread deformities.
  14. All it takes is a hidden ball trick play to get our base runners out. This is the third baserunner of ours to get caught between bases this week. Horrible.
  15. This is an outrage. Umps have been horrible this season especially. Is it also just a coincidence that another blown call helps the Yankees. And then the ump throws out a player just because the player calls him on that bull. Amazing.
  16. Please don't be PC, that's the point. It was just a throw away line.
  17. Not just elves, Narnians everywhere are gnashing teeth about the trees.
  18. I make the wise crack because they are not the same, and one is definitely a euphemism.
  19. Ahem... I think you mean climate change
  20. Re-posting this from the game thread tonight: Well, we got some answers to our questions about the bench players tonight. Parmelee's job is to get hit by pitch when down in 0-2 counts for which he's a pinch hitter in unlikely ninth-inning-rallies. And Martroaianni's job is to pinch run and score from second on OF singles, again.... when fighting for the unlikely 9th inning rally. So there we go. I'm satisfied. No roster moves necessary.

  22. That was the second strike he hit. No fault to him there after getting strike one called very low.
  23. Carroll with the grand slam, here we go.
  24. Hammer and Morneua get on for Plouffe who ties it with a big fly.
