  1. I hear jo-AHN DUH-rahn. I think. That was fast.
  2. Don’t forget the K. No - I’m not talking about strike-outs, I’m actually writing anyways. And I’m writing about spelling. It’s Kyle Garlick. Like he’s licking a fish.
  3. Forget Groundhogs and Robins. This is the true first sign of Spring. It’s even starting to get warmer up here on the tundra. Go Twins
  4. Please - Can somebody give us the correct phonetic pronunciation of his name???
  5. For those who have received the vaccine and are not symptomatic, the ballparks should open up. Play ball.
  6. Many of us over 65 have received at least the first shot of Pfizer or Moderna. I’m fully vaccinated on March 1rst and hope to catch the March 4 game in Fort Myers. The vaccines are 95% effective 10 to 14 days after second dose. Study in Britain showed AstraZeneca vax greatly reduced transmission of virus (unlikely the other vaxxes are less effective). The need for masks and distancing for the fully vaxxed with no symptoms is dropping - soon, no new normal.
  7. $2 deal is low risk. If he can prove himself and win a spot, that’s good. If someone else beats him out, that’s OK too
  8. Not Presto, Pesto!!!
  9. Only playing five teams: Red Sox, Orioles, Pirates, Braves and Rays. Limited seating, masks ...
  10. After a bad at bat, take a powder.
  11. Agreed. That is a ridiculous contract, snd I hope it backfires for the Dodgers. Amassing a group of good, improving younger players is a better strategy than overbidding for aging players who have been good in previous years. The Twins can sign Andrelton Simmons to improve SS for a year, but the future for this team is developing a talented SS - hopefully Royce Lewis, but maybe someone else in the system. That is true at every other position (with exception of DH). I was NOT a big supporter of the Josh Donaldson long-term contract, for example. I hope I’m wrong on that. I have less problem in signing aging players at DH (Chili Davis, Thome, Cruz) to one and two year deals, but thought it was time to move on from Cruz this year. The future is with amassing talented, younger players.
  12. Barber is the obvious pick. But another one to consider is Taylor Rogers.
  13. Barber is the obvious pick. But another one to consider is Taylor Rogers.
  14. Twins should sign one more vet reliever (Clipprd level) and that’s about it. I like the roster as it stands. If Father Time catches up with Cruz, the Twins have to pivot to their hitters playing over in St. Paul.
  15. I am over 65, and now scheduled to get my vaccine doses soon enough to go out to a game in Mid-March. More and more of my group will be vaxxed in the next month and then it progresses from there to younger groups. There is light at the end of the tunnel. And that tunnel is the one that leads to our seats at the ballpark. Play Ball.
  16. I’m another naysayer. I would have preferred promoting Larnach or Rooker and giving DH/rest to Donaldson and some DH days to Polanco and Arraez. I hope I’m wrong and Cruz continues to be the elite Boomstick in the lineup.
  17. Mitch Garver should be at the top of the list in this conversation.
  18. All but two were New York City Centric. He couldn’t even list the 1980 Miracle on Ice because Lake Placid NY is too far from the big city.
  19. If the Twins bring Cruz back, they must be willing to limit his at-bats or DFA if Father Time catches up and he is not producing. If he continues to defy time, that is better. But if he slides, they will have bought some time to see who is producing in St Paul.
  20. No need to sign Cruz. The FO already says it will be putting Donaldson at DH more to limit injuries. Then get at bats for other players (Rooker,Larnach...)
  21. Reusse needs to appoint him the new leader of the Turkey of the Year Award.
  22. I looked and didn’t see this on Twinsdaily. Like a great baseball writer before him (Reusse), LaVelle E Neal III is being promoted from beat writer for the Twins to columnist. Best wishes.
  23. Bonds is not personally liked by a number of the the Sportswriters. That is as much of a reason as the ‘roids. Are nice guys with lesser numbers more deserving? If so, then Torrii Hunter and Michael Cuddyer should be at the head of the class. I think the Hall is more interesting with a rogues gallery, anyways. Ty Cobb and Cap Anson are in it. Schilling’s numbers are worthy., so don’t let him be taken out snd vote him in anyways (his sour grapes induction speech will make the Hall more interesting). Maybe I’m crazy, but reinstate Pete Rose (another guy with a less congenial personality - especially compared to his teammates Johnny Bench and Joe Morgan).
